Today I have my appointment with the neurologist about my hands. I hope he can help. They've been really bad the past week.

Thanks Kathy I do feel a little better today, but I think it's b/c I finally slept through most of the night, but I have to go out in the cold today to get to the tutor

It is NOT cold here. It was in the mid 80's yesterday.

Out in the cold, huh? How cold is cold???

it was in the low 40's this morning, but it's in the 60's now

Well, I went to the doctor today. I am so disgusted. I waited about six weeks for this appointment and have really been suffering, literally getting worse almost every day. I explained what's been going on, told him that I know it sounds like carpal tunnel but even if it is I feel like there is more going on. He said that he thought it was severe carpal tunnel and "possibly" some arthritis and he wanted to do an EMG...but he's been out of the office for the past week so they're really backed up so it would have to be scheduled for next week. He said that there was nothing he could really do until he does the EMG. Well, I've heard how they do the cortisone shots and I asked him about that he said he didn't want to "go that route" until he had done the EMG. But he felt that the results would probably come back showing the carpal tunnel to be severe and then he would do the shot and send me to a surgeon. He was so quick to just jump at surgery. I asked him if he would at least prescribe an oral steroid to alleviate some of the swelling and he agreed to do that, but said he didn't think it would work much. Well, maybe it is in my mind by I've had two doses of the steroid since 3:30 and I feel like there's a little relief. I was totally disgusted by the time he was finished because I just felt like I hate waited all this time for this appointment and was walking out just the same as I had gone in! And I just honestly don't feel that he listened to me. But then I got the final insult to it all - they can't get me in until 12/19 for the EMG. And the girl that made the appointment for me had a "take it or leave it attitude" about being able to get me in "that soon!"

Sorry to complain but I just really needed to vent. I'm so fed up with doctors!
