I just got a call from my best friend. She and her husband are just getting back from vacation and she called in a panic wanting to know why she can't get home. She lives just down the road from where this is going on and they have a roadblock set up. Her son is best friends with this man's son so naturally she's scared her son might be there.

I know DH will call as soon as he can but I'm so scared. Sometimes he goes out and I'm okay. Sometimes it really gets to me. This is one of those "gets to me" times.

I just talked to my best friend again. They made it home using the back roads. She hasn't been able to get in touch with her son. He's not answering his cell phone. He's 19 and he lives at home with them. She doesn't know where he is and she is so scared that he is over there.

Another friend of mine just called to see if I knew what was going on. DH never wants me to talk about what he's out on so all I told her was there was some sort of stand-off (which she already knew) and that he and the Tact team were called out (which she already knew). She asked where it was and I only told her the street (again - which she already knew). News travels fast in this sleepy little community! I told her I didn't know any more details. I hate to lie or be evasive but I also don't want to "gossip."

My best friend just called and she finally talked to her son. He was at a movie with his girlfriend and turned his phone back on when he got out of the movie and he called her. So she knows he's safe!

IT'S OVER!!! And it all ended peacefully!

DH just called and his phone was cutting out but he said he's on the way to the office and he would call me later. He said that they have the guy in custody but other than that I don't know any details.

THANKS KELLI AND KAYLA FOR BEING HERE FOR ME! It really helped me out to know you guys were here tonight. I was going nuts with worry. When DH called and I heard his voice I just started to cry.

And he still doesn't understand when I tell him that it's time for him to retire! I know he never will, though.

...well, anyway, if anyone does check in here....please keep DH in your thoughts. They just called him out with the Tact team. It's some sort of situation with an armed man - not sure about hostages - and the man with the gun is someone we know. Not a good situation. So please think good thoughts for us. I am a nervous wreck!!!

I am thankful there are guys like your DH out there
but I know that it is hard on their families when they are in situations

Thanks again for you support for last night. DH has to go in early this morning to do tons of paperwork. I wonder if people realize how much paperwork they create for people when they do things like this.

I have to work today but I should get off by 2:30. I'm too close to overtime and the boss isn't in the overtime paying mood.

I feel like such a little kid today! my mom made me stay home from school b/c I'm sick. I needed to go today, but I really won't be missing too much, but I'll need to go to the math tutuor tomorrow. Good thing I'll have the whole day. but thank God she made me stay i feel HORRIBLE!! and i look like walking death
