there a show on HGTV called Cash in the Attic and what they do is auction off stuff from people's places so raise money for different home improvements that the family wants down....it is really cool when they go to the auction and people bid on their stuff.

the bad thing is we get rid of everything right away. I hate having clutter in the house, so we're always giving stuff away. we give all the books to my godmother, and all of our clothes to my sil for her cousins, so we really don't have much, unless I just start pulling pictures off the walls

I have bought used books from Amazon in the past...people list it with Amazon and they ship it to you directly.

Is there any way you could help your family "save" that money in a month or two. Like I was saying before, about how DH and I would eat out a lot. Then, I started to eat/cook more at home and watch how I shop and then we used that money for other things.

DD was playing Old Maid and Go Fish on the laptop and all of a sudden I hear the computer - "Check" - "Call" - "Raise" - "Fold". Well this goes on a couple of times until it hits me. I turn around and ask her what she is playing. She looks at me and says "Poker - and I am winning".

i don't think there is much we can cut out, I was always the one who would pay for the fun stuff and since I'm not working anymore, we really don't go to the movies or out to eat much anymore
