 oh Tracy!!!

I too had a bike encounter..

I was 12 and was spending the summer with my father who lived in Brooklyn (I lived in TX with mother and step-father). It was the first time meeting his new wife and her two older daughters. They borrowed a bicycle for me from a neighbor so that I could ride to my grandma's house. She lived sooo far away that I now wonder why I was going to be allowed to ride. Anyway..... It was a man's bike and I am very, very, very short... I get on the thing and within 30 seconds fall... straight down on the bar. OUCH!!! It hurt sooo bad!!! No one was outside with me so I just put the bike down and went inside. I was in pain for about two days until one of girls heard me in the bathroom kinda crying. I was doing my pp business and it burned and burned and burned. I was mortified to say anything to my father (who I only saw during the summer) or these new ladies in the house. Well, the one daughter did tell them that I got hurt and probably needed to go to the drs. They took me to the ER and I had to get stitches you know where. Yes, there.

I was mortified. mortified. And it didn't help that the ER doc was a hunk!! I was sent home back to TX as soon as I was healed enough to walk. I didn't ride a bike for a long time after that (and I lived for my bicycle). But I have finally gotten back on but I am always a little anxious still.

OMG!! Liz you poor thing.
I hit that bar a time or two trying to ride by brothers bike but nothing like that.

well I am just back from school! Brandon had a rought start to his day :(

He has to ride a bus to school so what I did was get him on the bus and then followed the bus to school. I had to park in the lot and then Grif and I ran to the front to try to meet him. Well I couldn't see anyone there. So I go in and he's not in the lobby, so I walk down to his room... NOT THERE!! His teacher and I go looking for him and we found him all hunkered in a corner by the cafeteria crying!! He just shut down and wouldn't talk to us at all. He was crying, I was crying. It was a big mess.

I noticed that he didn't have his backpack so I asked if he left it on the bus and he said that someone took it! Poor guy!! Well it seems that it dropped to the floor and some girl picked it up. We think that she was just trying to help, but in his mind she was taking it. It's still not found, but a bus reported that a backpack was left on it, so we're hoping that it's his. They said that it will be brought to the school after lunch. Thank goodness his lunch wasn't in it. I don't care about the bag, but it just breaks my heart that he had such a bad experience on his first day.

The principal, guidance counselor, his teacher, another classmate and I tried to get him to open up, but he just curled himself up in a corner, covered his head up and wouldn't talk or anything. It was breaking my heart. After about 20 minutes I thought I got through to him and he was almost walking in the class door, when he started walking backwards and then out the front door!! The principal and I kept saying Brandon don't go outside, etc, but he just kept going. He stormed off down the sidewalk. I was both mortified and upset. I didn't yell or anything, but I tried to explain to him how wrong that was. How dangerous it was. How scared I was.

Well I finally got through to him and got him in the classroom. The teacher was kind to him. She had explained to the other students how he was feeling and they were sooooo sweet to him! He instantly got surrounded by a group of girls who were hugging him, rubbing his back, etc. They were practically fighting over who got to sit by him on the floor.

I sat in his classroom for about 25 minutes. He seems like he is doing better. Before I left I asked him if it was ok and he said yes.

I am nervous about his bus ride home. The good news is that one little girl who was attaching herself to him is on that bus also! So I know she will make sure that he is on it.

Well now I am just going to sit at home with Grif and hope that the phone does not ring!! I am hopeful that the day is only going to get better and he'll come home with tons of good stuff to tell me about!
:grouphug: I am so sorry he had a rough start...I am getting teary reading your post :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I think you are so wonderful that you followed the bus to school to check on him ...you need some hugs too:grouphug: :grouphug: hopefully by the end of the day he will be having fun... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Well when you are sick you can't help it.

But when I go on vacation I had to work twice as hard to get things ready for me to go and than when I get back I have to work twice as hard to get things caught up.

yep, I don't think I could have driven to work, much less been productive or awake

That is one of the good things about where I work...for years I covered for one of the other guys when he would go on vacation..and then I covered for my boss a lot when we were short one person....so now they are really nice about covering for me when I am gone on vacation... at my previous job, it was very hard to take off. When I asked for time off when I was getting married, they didn't want to give me time off before or after the wedding...the rational was that I was getting married on a Saturday, so I could be at work on the Friday before and the Monday after :sad2: Thank the Lord I don't work there now...I could never be happy there with my family life as it is now.

we're back from school and all is well!!!

He made it fine on the bus ride back home and had his backpack :)

He wasn't interested in talking too much about it b/c he wants to play on the computer but I did get this out of him. I gave him a 5 point scale:
5: Wow that was GREAT!! I can't wait to go back!
4: That was pretty good.
3: It was ok..not good but ok
2: I didn't like it that much at all
1: I H-A-T-E that place (Brandon spells everything!!)

He started the day off at a 1... those were his exact words in the office this morning, in front of the principal, and councelor

This afternoon he gave it a.......... 5!!!!!! He said he really like it!! And kids in his class were fighting over who got to sit by him at lunch :earboy2:

Oh.. such relief... I can breath a little better now. Which I mean literally.. this morning I had to take my inhaler b/c I was wheezing, which rarely happens anymore.

Thanks for all the  and good thoughts for Brandon :goodvibes:

I will do my wave now :wave2: in case you speed out of here...it looks like it is close to your quitting time :hourglass
