Las Vegas Shooting

The ultimate question, was Paddock a loner or not?

...
In a press conference on Wednesday, Clark County Sheriff Lombardo was asked if he saw evidence that Paddock had planned to escape after the attack.

The sheriff said "yes". Asked what it was, he said: "I can't tell you."

Sheriff Lombardo was asked by a reporter if he thought Paddock had carried out the attack alone.

"You've got to make the assumption he had to have some help at some point," the sheriff replied.

"Maybe he's a super guy, maybe he was working out all this on his own, but it would be hard for me to believe that."

The possibility that Paddock could have had an accomplice is a twist in the investigation.

...

But they're not embedded. At least none of the ones we have had. They are in a plastic egg which is covered in chocolate.
FTR we never buy them. The chocolate isn't very good and the toys are worse then McD happy meal toys. Little bits of junk that kids throw out within minutes.

I think technically they are embedded because the chocolate covers the plastic.

I’ve never tried them because I don’t enjoy cheap chocolate.

Galaxy. Why accept cotton when you can have silk? Most yummy chocolate ever, probably a bit sweeter than most US chocolate. You can buy it in the England pavilion - for a price!

Is that what they are, a plastic egg with a toy, covered in chocolate?
I've never had one but I always assumed they were hollow chocolate eggs with a toy inside.
I bought a plastic egg covered in chocolate with a toy inside at Market Basket earlier this year. Weird.

Basically you get an egg of chocolate - milk and white layers - then inside an empty space is a plastic capsule. In THAT capsule is a toy of varying description. It's very hard to ingest the capsule, although I could see the toy as being a choking hazard, if you managed to get the capsule undone, which is tougher than you'd think. The chocolate itself is rather thin, not much there.

Are you talking about Kinder Eggs? I haven't read the whole thread.

Kinder Egg ...the chocolate is shaped like an egg , hollow inside so a plastic capsule sits inside that has the toy in it. We love the chocolate here and some of the toys are cute. Some puzzles some are animals, some you have to put together. Bigger toys and eggs come out at Christmas and Easter.

I type too slow...lol

Someone else brought them up and several posters have described them.
I was surprised by what they described.
Maybe read the last page of the thread next time.

Piers Morgan brought up the Kinder Eggs on Brittish TV yesterday as an example of something harmless that can’t be purchased in the US whilst guns are easy to buy. So it is realated.

FWIW the candy is illegal because of plastic toy being embedded in the candy, not the size of the toy.
Is it harmless though? Aren't warnings put out all the time because of small parts in toys?

i will check out Galaxy in December!

They said one of the most disturbing things is that he doesn’t fit any profile. Usually they can profile someone and work from that but this guy, he just doesn’t fit any of them.

His family can't seem to fathom why he did what he did. They noticed nothing out of the ordinary and I think I'm right in saying that just before he went off-the-rails he actually texted his brother to ask after his mother? I could be making that up, with all the haze of information and misinformation I don't know what's accurate anymore!

As I did comment before, he's a man with reptile blood flowing thru his veins...

He texted his brother asking about his mother a couple of weeks ago after hurricane Irma.

And, it was the first thing my German exchange student mentioned in seeing the news. She didn't see Piers Morgan. Just applying her POV to the facts at hand.

As the investigation continues:

Vegas Shooter's Chicago Hotel Overlooked Lollapalooza Crowds

CHICAGO — Stephen Paddock, the man behind the mass shooting that left more than 50 people dead and 500 wounded in Las Vegas, booked hotel rooms that overlooked Lollapalooza in Downtown Chicago, according to a report.

TMZ reports Paddock booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel, which has a view of Grant Park — where Lollapalooza is held — before and during the festival in early August. The festival draws hundreds of thousands of people to Grant Park, including about 400,000 people in 2016.

Citing anonymous sources, TMZ said Paddock had never before booked a room at the hotel but requested a "view room" that would face Grant Park.

Paddock never checked into the hotel rooms, though, according to TMZ's sources.

A representative of Blackstone Hotel declined to comment.

Yes, in fact Kinder Egg packaging has all the standard warnings "not for children under 3" "small parts" etc, that you'll see on any other toy with small parts.

The "Kinder Joy" American version gets around the regulations by putting all of the chocolate in one half of the egg in a sealed container, and putting all of the toy on the other side of the egg, also in its own little separately sealed package. In this way the toy isn't "in" the chocolate, and it's legal. However, it's still ridiculous to think that any American would actually try to shove a whole entire Kinder Egg in their mouth, and then somehow choke on the rather large plastic capsule inside it. It's pretty much along the lines of Peter Griffin wearing water wings so he doesn't drown in his soup.

You won't believe this, but I'll try...

Some poor misguided soul actually killed himself trying to chow down a Big Mac in one bite. Ouch.

The ultimate question, was Paddock a loner or not?

This really bothers me, is the sheriff saying this because there is actual evidence that he was working with someone, or is it just a feeling he has because he can't fathom Paddock did it all on his own? I can't imagine how he personally feels about what happened in his city, but he is still a law enforcement official and IMO they should be reporting facts, not personal speculation. If there is evidence, report that they have evidence that he was working with someone. If there isn't at this time, he can just say they are investigating it.
