Las Vegas Shooting

High limit rooms in Vegas have machines in them also. A casino isn't going to turn down money, particularly from a high roller.

They have them in the high roller room in our Casino's. Stephen Paddock used to bet up to $100 per hand on them.

Also Danley once worked as a “high limit hostess,” to members of loyalty club at Atlantis Casino in Reno. Kind of makes me wonder if Poker machines were the only thing he played,,

But a lot of the claims are that many of these hotels are instituting some sort of detection technology that isn't as obvious as traditional metal detectors, X-rays, or bag checks. If it ever gets "practical" it will be due to better technology.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of detection technology exists that could be deployed secretly without having any type of adverse health effects on those being exposed without their knowledge? An ordinary trip to Vegas could mean an extraordinary amount of daily exposure to this technology by most visitors on a daily basis as they make their way in and out of different resort properties for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, gambling here and then there if the tables or machines are cold, seeing shows, seeing exhibits, shopping, meeting up with friends, retrieving things from your room or dropping off purchases.

Why does that make you wonder if video poker was his only game? The fact she was once a high limit hostess in a casino and he is said to have been a frequent gambler betting high stakes absolutely makes me assume that's how they met. A casino would be quite interested in keeping a $100 a hand player returning as often as possible. Hosts and hostesses would be the key people in charge of guest retention, no matter what game the guest favors.

That is correct. Small parts in toys, chocking hazard. One of the regulations that transfers the individual's responsibility to Big Brother

Pity. In school, we would buy them all the time and actually established a Kinder Egg Land :)

How do we go from discussing a terrorist attack that left 58 dead and more than 500 wounded to talking about chocolate eggs? I know this is the Dis and threads go off on tangents, but come on.

As the instigator of the change in topic, I welcome it. This IS a Disney discussion forum and lighter-hearted discussions are ALWAYS welcome! They don't actually stop the more serious exchanges if people are so willing, but it provides a much needed counter-relief to events du jour :)

But wouldn't it make more sense in a thread on it's own? That's what I don't get. Why did you bring it up in the Vegas shooting thread? If the thread was getting too serious for you, you don't have to read it.

Piers Morgan brought up the Kinder Eggs on Brittish TV yesterday as an example of something harmless that can’t be purchased in the US whilst guns are easy to buy. So it is realated.

FWIW the candy is illegal because of plastic toy being embedded in the candy, not the size of the toy.

If there is any security video of her, given the look of Vegas escorts and prostitutes the investigators will immediately know if "mystery woman" is one.
Do you watch a lot of movies or something? Some of the assertions you make are just...ridiculous.

In any case they said last night that so far from what they can tell people seen near him weren’t actually with him.

I feel the same but I’m admittedly very sensitive on the topic.

It was entirely proper - it played on the epic contrast between the acceptability of firearms and the banning of a chocolate treat. Ironic, no?

Is there anyone on Earth who doesn't have someone in their family with mental illness? Cousin, Uncle, Grandmother, niece, daughter, etc?

Erin, you are desperately reaching. Why?

Have you ever been on medication yourself? You're separating the two instances. This man had mental illness in his family AND was prescribed Valium for himself. I also have mental illness in my family but have never needed to go on any medications myself. Also, if you have ever known someone who has experienced anxiety and/or depression then you would know the affects that these types of medications can have if they are not on the right med specific to them.

So in this case, I don't think I'm reaching at all.

The Kinder Joy are disgusting - they are like eating frosting. Not the same as Kinder Eggs. The eggs are illegal to sell in stores. I have found a few places though.

Sorry to hear that they're yucky tasting!

For what it's worth, the chocolate was never the real point of a Kinder Egg. It's really cheap, waxy, "chocolate". The real joy is in wondering if you'll get a fun toy (ie, a little car you can assemble, or a cute animal, or a tiny trebuchet) inside your egg, or a crummy toy (ie, some stickers, a printed maze with a tiny pencil, or a movie character you really, really don't like).

In a thread discussing the potential strengthening of regulations around gun ownership, I think a discussion on the banning of chocolate-coated plastic capsules containing small toys is completely relevant.

Why is one more strictly regulated than the other? Especially when, in other countries, it's often the other way around?

Well, it started with Airline's regulations, the liquids allowed on carry on. Like the shampoo, then Scotch, Sudafed and ended up with Kinder Eggs. All about good and bad regulations. Totally not meant to disrespect the tragedy, just picturing a regulation, enforced without a common sense.

I always got toys with more parts to assemble than an Ikea purchase :(

But they're not embedded. At least none of the ones we have had. They are in a plastic egg which is covered in chocolate.
FTR we never buy them. The chocolate isn't very good and the toys are worse then McD happy meal toys. Little bits of junk that kids throw out within minutes.

But those are the BEST ones!

:cool1:

I once found so many going through my children's bedrooms, that I collected them all and wired them to a Christmas wreath. It really looked good!

Oh, I totally agree. Cheap tat IMHO.
