Las Vegas Shooting

From Fox News an hour ago:

The one person who can provide insight into the Las Vegas killer's warped mind -- and potential motive -- remained out of reach of U.S. authorities Tuesday. But they want to talk to her. Soon.
From yesterday:
Authorities say they located Danley outside of the country, interviewed her and, according to the BBC, she is “no longer being sought out as a person of interest.”

Multiple sites are saying she's not a person of interest any more. Do you really think that would happen if they hadn't talked to her?

Well I guess we have conflicting news stories - no surprise there.

Also, she may not have been involved in the shooting but I would like to think she could give a little insight since she lived with the man.

If I may offer an opinion, part of the problem facing us is keeping guns away from criminals and threatening individuals in general. The wider debate about gun control in general is for another day.
This man wasn't a criminal and wasn't flagged in any way as a threatening individual.

My opinion is this guy wanted to prove he was the best terrorist ever. He probably spent years thinking of his plan.

So could, presumably, his brother and his mother and any close friends he might have had.

I'm sure she's told them everything she can, over the phone. And, if I were her, I sure wouldn't be returning to the US any time soon. There are undoubtedly people who would target her just for having had a relationship with the man.

I am assuming that at first they were looking for her because her ID was used by him at the resort.
Now I would assume that while they don't think she was involved they just want to question her about him in general. They have searched the home they shared so they may just want to know what she can tell them abut what they found.

No doubt. Plus all the rumors, conspiracy theories and bad information being spread. I'd be very afraid of coming home if I were her.

He could've choose to high jack a semi, bought a truckload of fertilizer, used preassure cookers and nails or simple used a car to senselessly murder innocent bystanders. It's the depraved mind of an evil soulless individual that's responsible for these deaths.

I thought I read that he did have fertilizer in his car. At the end of the day though, that's not what he used.

Maybe I'm a skeptic and looking into things too much, but it's a little convenient that this woman just happened to be out of the country when this happened, and is a foreign citizen so doesn't have to come back. I am sure police are investigating this more than what they are telling the public, but I wouldn't just assume that she's provided all the information to police that she knows. I'd be digging in that hole a little more.

I praised the Police for narrowing down on the suspect's location quickly. Now I know how they were able to:

While I'm not criticizing the police, I'm not sure the the fact it took over 70 minutes to locate a shooter spewing out automatic fire should be described as "quickly." Rather, the authorities did everything possible under difficult circumstances to track him down and end the carnage as rapidly as they could.

A friend posted a link to an article regarding the media & their coverage of mass shooting incidents. I wish I had bookmarked the article, so I could link it. The premise of the article was that the media gives too much attention to the shooter. One trait all these shooters have in common is that they're narcissists. And, if the media would stop giving them attention, these type shootings would decrease exponentially within 2 years.

I tend to agree. However, at the same time, the particulars of Sunday night's shooting are so bizarre to me that I want to know more about the shooter. He doesn't seem to fit the "mass shooter" profile. He was a retired accountant with, apparently, some wealth - he had a pilot's license, went on numerous cruises, owned different properties, etc. He didn't have any kind of military background. But what he did took some precision & planning.

I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist, but did someone get to him?

Also, DH & I have handguns, but I can't imagine why anyone would need 43 firearms. Are there no kind of flags that pop up when a person is buying several firearms? Why it is so easy to convert a basic firearm into an automatic?

Sounds like Randy Sutton either made something up or didn't get good information from his sources.

I don't know who's right or wrong. It's not like they sat down and had a briefing on what they'll say to the reporters. I wouldn't accuse anyone of making anything up too. In such a distress and emotional state people understand different words than the worlds they were spoken to.

The reason I “bought” this story? After reading where the gunman was shooting from, when watching the posted videos of this happening, I specifically look for “light flashes” of the firing weapon where the gunman room was located & I didn’t see any. I was puzzled by it a bit.

Yes, you are being too much of a skeptic and looking into things too much.
Instead of letting your mind run and looking for theories and whatever based on nothing, you really need to just let the investigators do their job and go with the information they provide.

I know I feel this way when I'm on vacation too, but people have lives they have to get back to. Jobs, bills to pay, things to do, etc. How long can she stay away? It's not like people are going to forget....

ETA not saying she's on vacation, necessarily, I don't know where she is or what she's doing, just saying that's how I feel sometimes.

Another thing I'm unclear about. Reports are that he checked into the hotel using her ID (which is supposedly why it was in his hotel room). How does that happen?

This is a discussion forum, so I am discussing. We will find out more as investigators release the information.
