Las Vegas Shooting

At about 22:30 the Sheriff describes how they were able to locate him. What you posted is a theory.

I don't know if it's theory or not, I got it from HERE:

Also, the Sheriff has not denied or confirmed this when asked by the someone, he just stated that he wasn't informed of any smoke alarm story.

I've read that housekeeping was in his room and didn't notice anything out of place. If he had them in bags no one is going to look through his bags.

Here's a quote from The Washington Post:

...
Among the questions they have: How a former accountant with a penchant for high-stakes gambling obtained a weapon that sounded to those on the ground like it could fire as an automatic, and how he was able to bring it and many other weapons into a Vegas hotel suite undetected.

Lombardo said hotel staff had been in and out of the two-room suite, which Paddock had stayed in since Sept. 28, and spotted nothing “nefarious,” though he had more than 10 suitcases.

“It wasn’t evident that he had weapons in his room” before the shooting, Lombardo said.

The story will be the bump stock, the sad truth is a lot of those deaths could have been avoided with sensible laws. How did we get to the point of selling machine gun conversions legally on the interenet
I, for one, hope the story will be more than just the bump stock.

Admittedly, I know little to nothing about guns, though I do believe in the right to bear arms. But I also believe the bolded HAS to be looked at.

If I may offer an opinion, part of the problem facing us is keeping guns away from criminals and threatening individuals in general. The wider debate about gun control in general is for another day.

I am also a little curious about this girlfriend that's out of the country and what she knows. So far, police have not been able to reach her. One would think that if your boyfriend did something this heinous, YOU would be the one trying to reach police to help and give as much information as you can, unless you have something to hide.

Wouldn't have been difficult to determine which "window" because they don't open in Mandalay suites. They were shot out..big gapping holes in the side of the building.
Looking at them in the middle of the night? Yea, I'm pretty sure it would be pretty difficult. Sure, during the daytime they stand out, but not at the time of the shooting.

I thought I heard they did reach her and she was cooperating.

From USA Today:
Authorities confirmed that Marilou Danley is not in the United States and now say she is no longer considered a person of interest.

I would assume if she's no longer a "person of interest", that they've had some discussions with her.

He could've chosen to high jack a semi, bought a truckload of fertilizer, used preassure cookers and nails or simple used a car to senselessly murder innocent bystanders. It's the depraved mind of an evil soulless individual that's responsible for these deaths.

Sounds like Randy Sutton either made something up or didn't get good information from his sources.

In this case (and many others) we have someone who wasn't a criminal until he was and people are dead and injured.
We can both mourn this tragedy and discuss the fact that we have a big problem other countries don't seem to have.
Sitting back and saying now isn't the time to talk about it, does nothing to prevent the next one.

In the dark. In chaos. Looking for one broken window in a huge hotel with many, many windows. Up many floors. From the ground, as bullets are flying at you.

Now, I'm the first to admit I'm especially incompetent with a handgun, having placed more than my fair share of bullets in the ceiling of an indoor range, but I don't think any of us would have a hope in heck of hitting the gunman under those circumstance. Chances are good, he'd never even notice anyone firing from the ground, much less feel threatened by them!

I wasn't implying that civilians in this instance should have started shooting at the hotel. Rather, I was pointing out that comparing the 1966 Texas Tower shootings to what just happened in Vegas is an exercise in apples to oranges.

The Texas incident did not involve attacking a mass crowd with automatic weapons. And due to the presence of armed civilians and the fact the location of shooter was readily discernible, the response to it was more rapid than the one in Vegas. Civilians and police began firing back at the Texas shooter within 15 minutes of the start of his attack, which forced him to hunker down and limited his ability to locate and shoot at targets. It took authorities in Vegas over 70 minutes to locate the shooter and end his rampage.

That's not a criticism of the first responders in Vegas, but rather recognition that the situation they were dealing with was larger and more complex than the one in Texas back in 1966.

I agree, completely!

They have controls on cars around crowds. That is something we worked to fix to make us safer. Every government building will have barricades so cars do not get too close, Disney has them all over the place.

From Fox News an hour ago:

The one person who can provide insight into the Las Vegas killer's warped mind -- and potential motive -- remained out of reach of U.S. authorities Tuesday. But they want to talk to her. Soon.

I would argue that the wider debate needs to be happening right this very second and with utmost urgency.
All of it. Get down in the mud.. roll around and hash it out... offend one another .. it's all ok. But all of these people dying? It isn't ok.
Nobody will die from a debate. :grouphug:
