LARRY!! 2 Pros and 2 Newbies Hit WDW Jan/Feb 2012...Update 6/3

:rotfl: I LOVE your Dinosaur picture! Reminds me of my friend Annie -- she is scared the whole time...

9AyCK.jpg

...she's the third one in, screaming her head off and hanging on for dear life!

Loving the TR so far...keep it coming! :goodvibes

What - You didn't stare down the dinosaur! :rotfl: We went on that ride 3 times in December and my DS did the fake scream while looking at the dino each time. Those pictures were so funny!

So glad your friends liked dino, bug's life, AND EE! :cool1: It's so great when you see newbies really enjoy themselves!

*Referring to the above posting comment on Pop:

I know we will love Pop.. as we've stayed there before and we fell in love.. not with all the theming of the buildings but definitely with the quality. We want to upgrade so you will hopefully have a better chance at our "requested" buildings.. it never happens... and it would be really nice to be close to the classic hall and really close to a pool for a change.

EE always gets me the 2nd time. The first time is always ok, but when we ride it again right after- I always get a headache and my tummy is upset.. its the same for Austin. I actually always hold my head against the back of the seat and hold onto the head of the seat by my right hand and I don't feel so "shook" up.

I'm glad they are enjoying the trip so far- hopefully they fall in love with disney.

DH and I played that same trick on my bff last May at Bugs Life-- with the bee stinging.. hehe I laughed really hard when she said "ouch" and jumped. hehe:laughing:

Ahhh, I love ITTBAB! Glad Sam and Joe did too-- and that they enjoyed EE! The park part of your day definitely sounds like it ended on a high note!!
Haha, Dinosaur ride pics are always my favorite! There's always someone in the car who has the funniest, freaked out expression on their face!

Great start so far. Already had a few "Uh-oh...this may not end well" moments reading along. Glad to hear it is all chugging along okay at this point. Anxious to see if they stuck with your dining plans.

Fun Dinosaur pic! I know it's a little mild and dorky, but I love that ride!:thumbsup2 I'm glad Sam and Joe decided to brave EE!

Thumbs up :thumbsup2 on both of those things. :)

It was definitely a good feeling not having to pay for the TiW card and it's already saved us so much money. We'd also been pretty lucky as far as the buses went so far!

Oh how I love DAK! :goodvibes But I hate that stinging feeling at ITTBAB. Ouch!

I agree about Dinosaur being a must-do. Even if it is a little loud and freaky. I'm glad your friends finally decided to try Everest. One of the best rides!

I can always count on you to love DAK and all the little details :) I sit away from the seat on ITTBAB lol

I can't imagine not doing Dinosaur! I just plus my ears (obviously).

i will defintly be following your trip report! i was actually at that hotel 2 weeks ago! i love it... so disney!

Thanks for joining in! We love Pop!

That's great they finally went on EE!! Im glad it's looking like their starting to let themselves enjoy it somewhat :) Can't wait to see if they were ready on time for dinner :) My kids insist on going in ITTBAB and I laughed when you said you sat up because I do the same exact thing! LOL , I see Disney Fantasy Arrived in NY so are you thinking of doing a cruise in the future yet? :goodvibes

I was happy they chose to ride I just wish Joe wasn't such a wuss lol they were enjoying themselves but they didn't like the fast pace so far. Even though I love ITTBAB, I still sit up too lol

No Disney cruises in the near future...they're just too darn expensive I haven't been able to justify the major price difference between DCL and Carnival or Royal Caribbean!

I can't do ITTBAB! I'm SO afraid of any stinging bug that I'd probably have a nervous breakdown in there! But I like hearing about it, so I love your update! :thumbsup2

Haha, I love your Dinosaur pic! :rotfl:

Ugh, Brandon had that same boot he was supposed to wear on our October trip! He said there was no way he could hobble around Disney in it, so he didn't even bring it, I'm surprised Chris didn't have a problem with it!

Yay for riding EE so many times! Love that ride! :woohoo:

Just sit away from the back of the seat! Everyone else will be yelling and you won't feel a thing! lol

Chris was getting annoyed with the boot but he wore it. At that point he was in pain if he walked a lot without it so it kept him out of pain. The bad thing was at home he was always in pants so the boot was over pants...here it was on his bare leg and was bothering him!

:rotfl2: That's great! I love the kid in front of you FREAKING out!

There's always one person in every redneck pic lol

I am sad to say I've never done ITTBAB...I'm too scared! :rotfl: I have an irrational fear of beetles and I'm terrified of any bug that stings. I just can never bring myself to do it.

I love your Dinosaur picture, because I do the same thing you do. I absolutely hate loud noises, I spend pretty much the entire ride with my ears plugged!

I think you should give ITTBAB a try just once! It's short so even if you freaked out, it'd be over soon lol

I'm glad I'm not the only grown adult who plugs their ears on Dinosaur!!

Bahahaha, I do the same exact thing in ITTBAB! When I went with one of my good friends back in 2008, I was sitting forward with my feet up on the back of the seat in front of me and my friend couldn't figure out why. She kept asking me if I was feeling okay. :rotfl: She soon realized exactly why I was doing it at the end!

:thumbsup2 for so many rides on EE! Looooove that coaster so much! I'm glad Sam & Joe finally went on with yall.

You're so cute on Dinosaur!

Gahh... WE MISS YALL SO MUCH!!!

I PICK MY FEET UP TOO IN ITTBAB! lol I'm not sure why but I do, plus sit off the back of the seat. It's so funny to scare the newbies.

It was great getting that many rides on EE! And thanks!!

WE MISS YOU ALL TOOOOO! We lovedddddddd Mal's 1 year old pictures!!

hahahaha I love the picture! I'm glad I'm not the only adult who gets scared lol

Idk why I'm so scared to look at the dino! Those pictures sound hilarious!

It was funny because I think they liked ITTBAB the best when in my opinion, that's the least fun of the 3 rides!

*Referring to the above posting comment on Pop:

That's a good idea! It's probably not a ton more per night to just stay preferred either!

EE always gets me the 2nd time. The first time is always ok, but when we ride it again right after- I always get a headache and my tummy is upset.. its the same for Austin. I actually always hold my head against the back of the seat and hold onto the head of the seat by my right hand and I don't feel so "shook" up.

That's what happens to me too! I'm ok the first time but then after a 2nd or 3rd time I get queasy and a headache!

I'm glad they are enjoying the trip so far- hopefully they fall in love with disney.

DH and I played that same trick on my bff last May at Bugs Life-- with the bee stinging.. hehe I laughed really hard when she said "ouch" and jumped. hehe:laughing:

I loved tricking the newbies lol

Ahhh, I love ITTBAB! Glad Sam and Joe did too-- and that they enjoyed EE! The park part of your day definitely sounds like it ended on a high note!!
Haha, Dinosaur ride pics are always my favorite! There's always someone in the car who has the funniest, freaked out expression on their face!

The park part of the day did end on a high note, everything was going good so far!

You're right! There's always one person showing how TERRIFIED they are lol

Oh and our man won today, woot woot!!

Great start so far. Already had a few "Uh-oh...this may not end well" moments reading along. Glad to hear it is all chugging along okay at this point. Anxious to see if they stuck with your dining plans.

Funny you mention them sticking with my dining plans...stick around.

Fun Dinosaur pic! I know it's a little mild and dorky, but I love that ride!:thumbsup2 I'm glad Sam and Joe decided to brave EE!

I really don't think Dinosaur is mild! I love it too!

I am enjoying all of your Animal Kingdom fun! :cool1:

Thanks MeMom :)

 Do you see what I see?!?! Little Guy's Splash Mountain face!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I can't believe I didn't even notice that until you said it! FATEEEEE!! I do remember texting you to see if the woman was Mrs. Huxtable or Mrs. Winslow lol

Ok so in reading back this update to myself and to Chris, he made me realize I'd left out a huge part. Like HUGE...the explanation of the title! Clearly you all understand the "2 Pros and 2 Newbies" part...but I'm talking about the "LARRY!" part! It started this day at AK so let me add this little bit in.

Does anyone watch "Impractical Jokers" on truTV? If you don't, get yourself on youtube right now and type that in and be prepared to laugh your butt off. Seriously, one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Anyway, it's basically 4 guys from NYC who do the most hysterical pranks. In one episode, their "mission" is to cut this LONG line in Times Square of people who are waiting to buy discounted Broadway show tickets. If you've ever been in Times Square, you can't miss this booth and the long line that accompanies it. Let me give you the link and you all can see for yourselves. Just watch the first minute and that's the LARRY! part.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx2a-BYBetc

:rotfl: I die every time I see it. If you want to laugh youtube "impractical jokers white castle" and that one could make you pee your pants. Anyway, Chris, Sam, Joe and I are obsessed with this show. So in the middle of AK we had gotten a little split up from one another and we just hear "LARRY!! LARRY!!" from behind us. We turn around and it's Joe speed walking to catch up to us. Of course we found this hilarious so for the rest of the trip we'd just start yelling "LARRY!!" at the most random times.

So there you go, that's the story of Larry. The yelling lasted the whole trip although we never cut or attempted to cut any lines. Enjoy the last hours of your weekend TR readers!!

Yay! So glad to be all caught up! I must say, I totally get the "frustration" with those not willing (or understanding) to keep up the pace :) My own family is like that.

Second, I have been giggling here at my computer at your redneck pictures. I love that Chris is all "I think I'll take a nap now" in both of them. And I too, scream out loud and duck my head in Dinosaur. EE is my absolute favorite ride in Disney, with ToT right behind it. I couldn't ride ANY of them because I was preggo last trip so I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Great TR so far...I can't wait to hear more :):thumbsup2

I'd personally much rather roar than bleat lol I totally agree, we tried to tell them they wouldn't get sick but they wouldn't listen!

Rant: I have been in the Lion section EVERY SINGLE TIME and they never pick me to roar. I know I'm not a little kid but I would give the best roar ever. They do the show a million times a day, can't they pick a goofy 20-something year old just ONCE one single measley day?

Oh I miss EE. That is the greatest ride ever. I am jealous it was such a walk-on! Clearly I need to go to WDW during this time. I bought one of those snowball-looking yeti's on my 2nd trip. Landon and I "fight" over it...I truly don't need or want any stuffed animals except the yeti, obviously. So he knows its a yeti. I thought he knew that specifically was a yeti, but apparently he thinks that snowball shape is a yeti. You know how they have other round characters like that? Well one time one of my youth group kids got Landon a round Buzz...and now Landon calls it Buzz-Yeti! :rotfl:

You are a smart, smart girl about putting your feet up to eat! When I was eating at Flametree BBQ, I was all paranoid and Stephanie thought I was crazy and guess who got bit? Steph! Maybe you shouldn't go making fun of Kimmy :rolleyes1 lol

I recently put up a bunch of pictures of our last trip in a collage picture frame in my living room so I can just look up and see it all the time. I'll have to send you a picture of it. I'll have to send it from Garret's phone though since mine is completely done. (He is slowly accepting that his phone is pretty much shared now ) So at least we'll be able to talk again! I miss having you to text.

Can't wait for more my love!

I hadn't seen that show but that's too funny! Although I do have to say, if I had been in the line when the second guy cut in and said, "I don't wait on lines," I would have lost my you-know-what! :lmao:

Bahahahha. WE LOVE THAT SHOW! I clicked on your YouTube link to the Larry prank and Josh knew exactly what I was listening to all the way from our room.

Guess who's watching episodes On Demand now? :thumbsup2

It was definitely a good feeling not having to pay for the TiW card and it's already saved us so much money. We'd also been pretty lucky as far as the buses went so far!

With a big group, the Tables in Wonderland pays for itself very quickly! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more of your Disney fun soon. You guys have a great weekend!

I last left you all wondering whether Sam and Joe would be ready in time for our dinner reservation. We got back to the room and had about an hour and a half to get ready. Chris got in the shower first while I unpacked. This was the first time we’d been in the room since our luggage had been delivered and we were not about to live out of suitcases for the rest of the trip! By the time he was done, I was all unpacked and showered myself. We were all ready to roll at 7:00! Joe and Sam were just a few minutes behind us, so that was good and avoided anxiety for me. We got to the bus stop at 7:10 and waited for an Epcot bus. We were the only ones and the stop and took some pictures while we waited.

100.jpg

After about 10 minutes, a bus showed up. We took off for Epcot and then planned on taking a bus to the Swan for our dinner reservation. Some people probably know right there what we did wrong. We got to Epcot, off the bus and went looking for a Swan bus. ROOKIE MISTAKE, KRISTEN! There are no buses for the Swan at Epcot! I really should have known that! Since Sam and Joe didn’t have park hoppers, we couldn’t even cut through Epcot. So stupiddddd of me!!! Our only choice at this point, since our reservation was in 5 minutes, was to hop in a cab. $15 later, we were at the Swan!

I’d never been inside the Swan or Dolphin resort before and it was just BEAUTIFUL! Very upscale looking and I know they have teacher rates which may come in handy to me at some point! I’m just not sure it was “Disney” enough for me. At any rate, we quickly found Il Mulino and headed through the bar area to check in. We were seated right away. The restaurant was also very upscale looking, despite some people being dressed like us…jeans and nice shirts. Because of the atmosphere, I don’t have any food porn from here, sorry!!

We began looking over the menus and Joe says “I hope this place is better than the place we ate at before!” I looked at him, confused, and said, “Are you talking about Yak & Yeti?” He was! Wow, he could have fooled me. He ate all of his food there, plus the remainder of Sam’s. Apparently he didn’t believe pineapple or peppers were supposed to be in sweet and sour chicken and he thought it was gross…I just kept my mouth shut. This would begin 5 days of non-stop complaining about food. Needless to say, I was hoping Il Mulino would blow our minds!

The four of us ordered our drinks…wine for Sam, beer for Chris and Joe and an Amaretto Sour for me. We also ordered rice balls for our appetizer. There was a spicy focaccia bread with olive oil on the table for us which we all devoured and loved. Our waiter was an older man and from the beginning, wasn’t super thrilled about serving us. I guess he saw four young people an automatically thought we couldn’t tip or something? He was slow but finally brought us our rice balls…without any plates to share. Luckily, a younger female waitress started taking care of us as well and she was quick to bring us some plates and more bread. The rice balls were delicious!! Soooo yummy!

While eating, the waiter came and took our orders. I ordered manicotti, Sam ordered tortellini, Joe ordered chicken in a white wine sauce and Chris ordered chicken parmesan. We’re all Italian and live in NY so we know Italian food…and this lived up to our standards! Everyone really loved their dinners. The only problem was, Joe’s chicken came in some type of red sauce, not a white wine sauce like the menu said. He liked it so it wasn’t a problem, but he caught the attention of the waiter and said that the menu said a white wine sauce and clearly, this wasn’t a white wine sauce. The waiter said “Oh, they don’t use a white wine sauce anymore, they use a red wine sauce.” He then just walked away. Ok, don’t you think he should have told Joe that PRIOR to allowing him to order it? That was the last we saw of Mr. Rude Waiter Man and for the rest of the meal the waitress took care of us.

When we were finished eating, no one had room for dessert but were offered some complimentary limoncello. The waitress brought it over and the smell alone turned Joe and I off! It smelled VERY strongly of alcohol! I’m probably just a wuss but Chris and Sam really loved it! We showed the waitress our Tables in Wonderland card and also our restaurant.com gift certificate. To my dismay, the restaurant.com gift certificate isn’t a GC in the eyes of the restaurant, but a discount…one that I was unable to use along with my TiW card. That was frustrating to me because I was counting on using both since nowhere on either did it say a GC couldn’t be used with the TiW card. The TiW card ended up being the better bet as we saved $29 using it. I turned to a table of women behind us and gave them our $25 GC to use because I didn’t want it to go to waste!

After settling the bill it was after 9…all of the parks had closed already so our most logical way to get back to Pop was to take another cab. But, as we excited Il Mulino, we ran into this handsome fella…
101.jpg

Goofy! What a pleasant surprise! While waiting for the cab we took some more pictures.

105.jpg

Our cab actually ended up being a “courtesy car” from the Swan…a Hyundai Elantra lol The guy drove us back and wasn’t even charging us! Of course we threw him some money, thanked him and headed into Pop.

At this point I was craving something sweet so we walked through Everything Pop (where Chris had to be silly)

106.jpg

to get some dessert. We got on line and I ordered a chocolate shake while Chris got a chocolate chip cookie. Sam and Joe were behind us and being bombarded by Brazilians, literally touching them while waiting in line. This was the start of some HORRIBLE run ins with the RUDE, ANIMAL-LIKE Brazilians. They quickly ordered their dessert, we ate and then headed back to our rooms. We were pooped! By 10:00, Chris and I were in dreamland!

That’s the end of day one! Sorry this update was very text heavy! Thanks for sticking around and for your lovely comments everyone! Next up: Day 2- DHS!!

Yay! So glad to be all caught up! I must say, I totally get the "frustration" with those not willing (or understanding) to keep up the pace :) My own family is like that.

Great TR so far...I can't wait to hear more :):thumbsup2

I'm glad you understand how I was feeling!

LOL Chris poses like that for every redneck picture, as you will continue to see. I agree, EE is the #1 ride in Disney and ToT is for sure in my top 5. Thank you!

Rant: I have been in the Lion section EVERY SINGLE TIME and they never pick me to roar. I know I'm not a little kid but I would give the best roar ever. They do the show a million times a day, can't they pick a goofy 20-something year old just ONCE one single measley day?

LOL You would seriously be the best ROARER they had ever seen, just like you're the best clapper!!!

Oh I miss EE. That is the greatest ride ever. I am jealous it was such a walk-on! Clearly I need to go to WDW during this time. I bought one of those snowball-looking yeti's on my 2nd trip. Agreed. You should try WDW at this time, amazing with barely any waits. OMG, Buzz-Yeti...so cute! I miss Landon!!!

OMG I would have had a heart attack if I got bitten!!! LITERALLY!

Awww I'm so happy to know I'm on your wall. You're on my dresser in our picture from HDDR. I'm glad you're texting from G's phone now...text me a lot because I MISS YOUU!!!!

I hadn't seen that show but that's too funny! Although I do have to say, if I had been in the line when the second guy cut in and said, "I don't wait on lines," I would have lost my you-know-what! :lmao:

You should watch the show! I totally agree, that wouldn't have went over well with me lol

Bahahahha. WE LOVE THAT SHOW! I clicked on your YouTube link to the Larry prank and Josh knew exactly what I was listening to all the way from our room.

Guess who's watching episodes On Demand now? :thumbsup2

Figures you guys would like that show...probably because you're awesomeeeeee :) Can I see you soon, pleeeeeeeease?!??

With a big group, the Tables in Wonderland pays for itself very quickly! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more of your Disney fun soon. You guys have a great weekend!

TiW is great! Thanks MeMom, hope you enjoyed your weekend :)

Love the "larry" video! That was too funny! :lmao:

You should watch some of the other ones too!

That video was hilarious! My family lovessss that show!

That show is priceless and makes me laugh HYSTERICALLY every time! You all have good taste in shows!!
