LARRY!! 2 Pros and 2 Newbies Hit WDW Jan/Feb 2012...Update 6/3

So glad to hear your dinner was good. I have never been in the Swan, only the Dolphin. My DH and I are staying at the BWV for a few nights in June and I might have to swing on over there and check it out. But I definitely do not want your waiter. :rotfl:

Cute pictures of the four of you.

I just noticed that you live in LI. I was there last weekend on a girl's trip and we rented a limo and visited a bunch of wineries. It was a blast, except for when we got kicked out of Martha Clara for showing up without a reservation. It was my first time up there and other than the drive through/around NYC, I had a blast!

An update!!

Aw..hi Kris and Chris! :) You guys look so cute waiting for the Epcot bus. I love your shirt!

Oh no, you couldn't cut through the park. At least you were able to get a cab okay.

I haven't been to eat there. Actually, I have only been to the Swan & Dolphin maybe once!

Wow, what a bummer with the waiter. :headache:

Goofy! What a nice way to end the night! Why was he walking around there, do you know?

Aw, Chris. He looks so cute in that hat!

I love your TR so far! Very fun.

And the Rangers are winning the cup this year! In case you didn't already know :lmao:

My plan to get picked for FotLK is to have Landon volunteer, but obviously he would be too shy so I'd step in. JK. lol but I'm glad my clap is memorable! yay!!

We miss you guys too! You guys are on my wall, dresser (same HDDR pic) and your save the date is on my fridge too! It's glorious! I wish we lived closer together!!

I'm glad you liked Il Mulino. Sorry about that server! I remember when I went the server mixed up mine and that idiot guys plates, but I didn't like whatever I had ordered so I kept the one that dumb a__ ordered  Mmmm I could go for some good italian food right now!

Your dinner sounds great (except for the rude waiter, of course!) I'd love to go to the Swan someday! I keep thinking about staying there or at the Dolphin, but I don't like that you can't do the dining plan if you stay there!

Ugh, the Brazilian tour groups sound awful, I'd probably flip out if I was there at the same time as them! Why can't they just go to Disney and NOT be rude? :confused3 :)

another great update...that stinks about the waiter though. Glad you had the waitress to keep your evening magical. I'm sorry to hear you had to deal with complaining! That's never fun.

Can't wait to hear more!

Awesome update, the ups and downs about Disney Transort! We had just discovered the boat from Epcot and such! We had taken it from Epcot over to DHS for EMH the night before this. Never knew there was a boat to DHS! Shows you how much I take disney transportation in the past.
Can't wait to hear about the next day!

Dinner was yummy, I'd definitely recommend eating there. If you decide to, check restaurant.com before you go. I got our $25 gift certificate for $3! That's why I wasn't super mad we couldn't use it.

Thanks!

Yea, you were here visiting Melissa, right? I saw her post a picture of you two on FB. I live about half an hour west of Melissa, closer to NYC. Can you believe I'm going to be 25 this summer, have lived on LI my entire life and have never been to any of the vineyards?! I'm definitely missing out I'm sure! Oh I never drive through the city unless I absolutely have to which was only one time!

Thanks! My shirt is from my favorite store, Express lol

If they'd had park hoppers we could have cut through! Oh well, we survived. Our waiter was just not friendly, so I hope he didn't get our tip! I hope it went to the female waitress!

I was wondering the same thing about Goofy...not sure why he was there!

Hahaha, you know Chris, always the jokester!

It looks like you had a great beginning to your trip; can't wait to read more. :)

Thanks, we did!

Thank you!!

OMG, don't even say it! I'm scared it will be a jinx for me to even THINK it! They're in a slump right now that they need to get out of before playoffs, otherwise this amazing season goes down the tubes!

:rotfl: good FotLK plan! Your clap is WAY memorable.

I'm sooooo happy to hear we're around your house! Yay! Can't wait until October to see you!

Dinner was yummy! The Swan was pretty too, but I think you're right, no DDP there.

I don't get why they're soooo rude! They have NO sense of personal space or manners, whatsoever.

Thanks! The waiter definitely didn't ruin our night, just put a small damper on an otherwise excellent meal. The complaining was annoying and it was just the beginning!

Really it wasn't even Disney transportations fault, it was my fault for not remembering there was no bus for the Swan there! :headache:

I've seen those on restaurant.com, but I also have the TIW and that seems like the better deal especially since TIW covers alcohol.

I actually went up with my neighbor whose SIL/BIL live in Yapank, which is also west of Melissa. I really had no idea how big LI was. I knew nothing. Then another DISer told me Melissa was right smack in the middle of the wineries so I texted her and she was available for an impromptu meet.

It was definitely a fun way to spend the afternoon and I bet its simply gorgeous there in the summer and fall. You should try it. But since its in your own backyard you can put it off for awhile. That's what I tend to do with anything local to me.

I did tell Melissa I thought we should do a girl's weekend up there with DISers. Those who can drive up to the area and meet up. I think it would be so fun!

I remember your clap, too! :thumbsup2 So enthusiastic.... I love it!

That clap got us a lot of attention at Hoop De Doo lol

You're for sure right, I love TiW!

I live soooo close to Yaphank, 5 mins maybe?! That's awesome! Yea, LI is a lot bigger than people realize from the tips of the forks to NYC. Melissa is the perfect location for some great wineries. I definitely would love to try them. Problem is, we ALL take forgranted the things that are so close to us. When I move to FL, I'm going to wish I'd gone to the wineries!

Let me know, I'd love to be a part of this!

Thank you all for being patient with me since I haven’t updated in too long! You know the deal; life gets in the way of DIS time. I’ve been working and going to the gym after work nearly every day! I’ve lost 6.5 lbs. and have another 6.5 to go before we go to tinkgurl’s for her bridal shower! Then I have another 10 to lose before her wedding and KEEP IT OFF until my wedding! I’m doing well and am so determined! Anyway, let me get on with our DHS day!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The alarm went off at 7:25 and I woke up feeling pretty good! We’d gotten to sleep early and slept well so we were ready for our first full Disney day. I got showered and then woke up Chris to get ready while I did my makeup. Luckily, Sam and Joe were ready in time and we made it to the bus stop by 8:30. There was a longggggg line at the bus stop…thankfully, there were two buses waiting but they took a bit long to load. We made it on bus number two and over to DHS by 8:55. I was a little upset because I’d wanted to get to the park faster but the crowds weren’t bad.

002.jpg

They’d already dropped the rope (before 9:00, I was confused and made sure to check my phone for the time) so after we got through the turnstiles I grabbed everyone’s ticket and hightailed it to TSM. I told Chris, Sam and Joe I’d meet them back by Starring Rolls. I knew Chris wasn’t going to be able to keep up with my “speed walking” in his big walking boot. To my surprise, there was not really much of a mob heading over to TSM. It made me nervous because I thought I was way behind the big crowd or something.

003.jpg

However, when I made it over past Voyage of the Little Mermaid, I expected to see the FP line stretching back to One Man’s Dream…and I didn’t see anything. In fact, I walked right up to a FP machine with not a single person in front of me and several open machines! I was literally in shock! I guess since the last two trips to WDW were over the summer, I’d gotten used to the enormous line. I mentioned it to the CM and we talked for a minute or so about how low the crowds were and she said how much more pleasant it is for everyone during the slow season! So, with 4 TSM FPs in hand, I walked back over to Starring Rolls to meet the rest of the group.

004.jpg

At this point it was just after 9:00 and, again, much to mine and Chris’ surprise, Starring Rolls was empty with every seat open outside. We decided to take advantage of this since we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. I went for the infamous red velvet cupcake for the first time. Usually I’m a Butterfinger cupcake kinda girl but this time I decided to switch it up after so many people raving about the red velvet! Chris got his usual, a cinnamon bun which is unfortunately nothing like the one at the Main Street bakery. I took a picture of my red velvet after I’d already cut into it and didn’t take a picture of Chris’ flat, but tasty cinnamon bun.

005.jpg

Sam and Joe had apparently eaten in there room before we left. Joe had gone down to Everything Pop and filled up their mugs and gotten them some food. So, they just sat with us while Chris and I ate. I didn’t finish the whole cupcake because the cream cheese frosting was getting to be a little much for me. When we were done, we headed down Sunset Blvd. to two of the best rides in theme park history!!

007.jpg

008.jpg

I couldn’t get enough pictures of this little beaut!
009.jpg

If you couldn’t figure it out, that’s where we headed first, the Tower of Terror! As we’re approaching Joe is like “Wow, you guys do everything a$$ backwards, I can’t go on this after just eating.” Ummm, sorry Joe, we’ve done this a few times and we’ll be fine. I think Sam was actually able to convince him to ride with us though this time.

We headed to the ToT line and…it was nonexistent! We literally walked right into the elevator. I was able to get a few pictures of the insane detail in this queue but there was no line so I didn’t have much time to stop and get good ones. Sam and Joe were very impressed by the detail in here.

010.jpg

011.jpg

Chris sleeping, of course, and me freaking out lol
012.jpg

As usual, ToT was amazingggggg!!!! Definitely top 5 favorite Disney rides. Wow, unbelievable how much Chris and I love this ride!!! Sam loved it as well but of course Joe “didn’t feel well” now that he rode it after eating (in the room, over an hour before we rode.)

The next logical move was to head to Rockin’ Rollercoaster, another top 5 fave!! Once again, NO LINE, none at all! However, Joe wasn’t ready to ride another thrill ride yet so he sat this one out and waited for us.

013.jpg

014.jpg

015.jpg

Ahhh, I’m getting the chills just looking at these, man I miss Disney World!
016.jpg

Chris, excited to ride, wearing one of my favorite shirts of his that he got on our last trip
017.jpg

Andddd, our redneck picture
018.jpg

Sam screamed the entire ride!! It was so great and she loved it so much! I didn’t know prior to riding but this was her first “real” rollercoaster ever! She was so happy that she braved it and wanted to definitely ride again later.

That’s all for now my friends. Our morning had started off pretty great with low crowds and quickly getting on our favorite rides. What would the rest of the day bring? Stay tuned!

Not understanding this "no rides" after eating thing?! I mean, I wouldn't want to ride TOT after I stuffed myself silly at Ohana or something, but a small breakfast an HOUR before?! I'm thinking he was just afraid of the rides.
SO JEALOUS of the short TSMM FP lines! I've never seen them empty-- unless it's with a chain and "no FP left" sign!

I am a major lurker on the dis and definitely Trip Reports but I saw this and just had to comment! Last December when we went to Disney World my friend did the same exact thing! We were waiting in line and then as we were loading she said "You guys know this is my first real roller coaster!" She was all calm about it but we were like :scared1: Very nervous for her but she went on and loved it too! I just found this ironic that we had the same thing happen with a roller coaster newbie!

Love it! Chris is "sleeping" on ToT! I'm starting to get the impression that Joe is one of those people that just needs something to complain about. He would have driven me NUTS! I hope he didn't bring you all down too much. I'm glad Sam was enjoying herself though!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Starrring Rolls Cafe. Although I'll admit, I always get the cinnamon bun when I'm there. I've never had a cupcake there, but I'm thinking I may have to try one on my next visit!

ToT is my all time favorite ride in Disney (tied with EE though). I can't wait to go on it...it's been almost 3 years!

I don't get the whole no riding after eating thing either. In fact, I would rather have something in my stomach than be really hungry when I do those rides. But - hey - maybe that's just me.

I did drag my whole family on ToT on evening after we had just stuffed ourselves at H&V fantasmic dinner. I wasn't very popular that night. :rotfl: But - hey - we had FP's to use. :thumbsup2

Those red velvet cupcakes are quite popular right now. I have seen them on a lot of TRs lately.

Too funny that you live right near Yaphank. If we ever do a girl's winery tour you are so in!

Congrats on the weight loss!

We did a sleeping picture on Test Track, but it's such a great idea to do one on TOT. So much funnier! :rotfl:

I LOVE Chris' shirt! The beach, Disney and Stitch are truly paradise for me! :cloud9: Where did he get it?

I get motion sickness on several rides, and have to be careful about not doing certain rides after eating, or not doing them twice in a row. But either Joe gets it worse than I do, either he's scared, or he just likes complaining. :confused3
