large party reservations

I'm not yet in my 60 day window but I was testing out the reservation system 60 days out..
We have a party of 7...
There was lots of availability for parties of 6. But 60 days from now, I couldn't find any reservations anywhere for parties of 7..

Has Disney unofficially adopted a 6 person max for ADRs? Or reduced availability of tables larger than 6? Or did I just hit a period of bad luck?

Pretty sure they are limiting it to 6 per table right now.

We had a party of 9 in December and all sat together, but our ADRs were booked as split parties (6+3, 7+2, 5+4) and we checked both parties in at the same time, in person, not via mobile checkin. Most of our ADRs were made by calling (based on a pop up I got when trying to book online for 9), but before you call, try booking for 8 people instead of 7. Disney’s system seems to prefer even numbers, and if you book for 8 and show up with only 7, there’s no penalty. The only restaurant that couldn’t seat us together was Sci-Fi, because their cars only seat 6 max. We sat together at B&C, Mama Melrose, Biergarten, LTT and Homecomin’.

I just checked for late April for our party of 8 (not going until May, but trying to get a feel for availability) and there were several restaurants I could have reserved. I feel like it's possible they are increasing capacity, because last week when I was checking, there was nothing at all for parties of 8.

I think they may have just made a chance very very recently. Because now I'm finding decent availability for parties of 7 or 8.

... they may be preparing to expand restaurant capacity soon.

We traveled in mid Feb with a party of 16. We were able to book online for tables up to 8 people. So I would assume it's an availability issue and not the table size. For many meals, we had multiple reservations and asked to combine at check in. Of course, that is never guaranteed. Most restaurants tried to accommodate us and sat tables up to a party of 10. I have found that when searching for reservations, putting a time search and not the generic "lunch" is helpful
