Hello. I'm looking for a laptop under $250. NOT a Chromebook. I just need to be able to move photo/video files between storage types, browse Internet, run an online typing class. No streaming or gaming. Any ideas? Thanks

I automatically went to Chromebook because DD has one for school. 😆

Asus and Lenovo make good laptops at that price level.

If you check some websites like BestBuy you can find PC's for $200 and up. I have a basic laptop for home use and basically just need internet/email and think it was about that price when I bought it a few years ago. Most PC's have WAY more features then you need for typical home use. HP & Dell make a variety of models and the basic difference is the screen size. Too small of a screen can be annoying even if for occasional home use.

Walmart also carries refurbished laptops.
We bought ours at a local place that had a huge sign that said laptops starting at 100.
I am retiring that and I'm getting a surface for 399 in so done with laptops.

Thoughts:

- Can you wait until Black Friday sales? Laptops have become "a staple" for those sales.
- I agree with above posters that IF you can increase your budget a bit, you'll get a much better product.
- What do you have against Chromebooks? If you get one with a couple USBs, you'd have storage. They have some real pluses, and price isn't the only positive.
