Lanyards still being handed out?

We got Inaugural Wish lanyards on the MV- they were hiding inside the bag they gave out the first day- took me all voyage to find them lol. But I like them a lot.
We're cruising next week (I think it's #8 for the Wish). I'm not expecting anything special, but that would be cool. I'm glad you found them. I would have probably done the same thing! :)

I like getting them... and I liked wearing them.

I remember back years ago when we first cruised...most everyone had them on. I think it's great, on deck and at Castaway to just have the lanyard with KTW Card and DL.

But I'm over 50... really don't see the point in needing a DL to drink at this point.

Speak for yourself. I'm 58 and I don't look a day over 19. :rotfl2:
(As I step aside to avoid the lightning bolt coming down to strike me down in my place).

This makes me happy. Our cruise on the Wish next week will be #6 and, even though it's a little thing, we are looking forward to getting them! Hope you had a good trip!
Same here, our next sailing on the Wish this August will our 6th Disney Cruise, first as Gold so we would love to get the gold lanyards.
Have a great cruise and please let us know how things went 🚢

The lanyard that we got on the MV is actually a Maiden Voyage Lanyard and not an Inaugural one. We got one bag per person in the room and each one had the lanyard. We actually didn't get anything at first so I had to ask on the third day because it was clear nothing was coming. At this point I'm not sure what was a Maiden gift and what was Platinum - or if they were all Maiden...

Same - our cruise Aug 8 will be our 6th. Sounds like Castaway Club lanyards are safe...despite the weird MV situation. Fingers crossed! I'll report back!
Enjoy your trip as well!

We only received one bag and one MV lanyard for two people and a family I spoke with only got 1 bag and MV lanyard for 4 people. Really no rhyme or reason. I agree IDK what gift is for what.

Seriously? Eve more cutbacks? CC already barely has any rewards. Lanyards can't cost Disney all that much and they're incredibly convenient.

Maybe they just didn't have enough supply for all the platinum folks on the maiden voyage.
It seems like not cut yet based on reports here. But, when it happens, it will be pitched as another environmentally friendly move.

Someone should explain to DCL the social and environmental impacts of the mining of precious metals and gems. Maybe they'll stop placing high end jewelry shops on their ships. Since they care so much...

That's what people said about the paper Navigators. Now they're history.

Taking away lanyards would be a particularly low blow, however. Kids use them to be able to get back into their staterooms independently, and would probably lose them without the lanyard.

Given what we pay for DCL cruises, they can certainly afford to keep giving us lanyards. There's no excuse for any of the petty cost-cutting Disney has been engaging in lately, besides greed.

I hope they don’t cut them entirely. However, I wouldn’t mind if they just gave them to us for our first cruise at a certain level (and maybe have the option to get a replacement if you forget yours.) My family didn’t need 20 silver, 20 gold, and however many platinum lanyards we will end up with. I’d be fine with bringing them back each time.

They wear out over time. The plastic holders for the cards, especially.

If lanyards are going away, maybe it's because they will shift from key cards? In June, there were contractors on the Wonder doing a lot of cable work. One of them said they would be on the ship for more than a month working and it was for Magic Bands. I do not know how accurate that is, perhaps the work was just improving the internet connections on the ship. But, if we have a Magic Band then we would not need a lanyard.

I'd rather have a MagicBand than a lanyard if they're taking suggestions. I'd even pay real USD cash-money for them. Heads up, Bob.
