Laissez les bon temps Rouler...Feb 2010 2/20 MK Last part of the Night updt 9/70 pg65

So sorry about what you are going through with your mom.

I enjoyed your walking around pictures. :thumbsup2

First, let me say how sorry I am to hear about your mom. We went through a similar situation last year with my father in law. It's not easy.

Your dining room is just beautiful. I'm dreaming of that one day. We have a dining room but use it as an office. When the kids are all grown and out of the house I'll convert it back.

I enjoyed your update. American Idol is one attraction that I've never done. I'm not sure why but we just skip it. Maybe next trip.

Okay so I have a question that is completely off topic. I've always thought you looked familiar but couldn't really place it. After seeing the pictures of the wedding you posted the lady in the purple right next to you looks so familiar too. Could you have possibly grown up in Chalmette?

Thanks MeMom. I wonder where I have seen walking around picture before? :scratchin

Thanks Grumpy's Wife. Hopefully things will get better.

I'm really enjoying having a dining room finally. I like to just go in there and look around. You'll get yours too once the kids start leaving the nest.

Give American Idol a try at the very least in a cool place to have a seat.

I must have a very generic face. People are always telling me I look like someone they know. The aide that came in while I was visiting Mom yesterday told me I looked like someone she knew in Mississippi. I was born and raised here but did live in South Carolina and Texas for a while. I do have some customers from Chalmette. They lived there before Katrina but now live on the North Shore.

Hey Vanessa! I'm finally caught up again. So sorry about your mom. I had no idea she had been through so much. When life gets tough like that, I find myself thinking, just for a moment how silly my Disney addiction is. But then a half second later, I realize once again that it actually makes the carefree fun we can find at Disney all the MORE important.

The new dining room looks gorgeous! And I think after 26 years, you were due! We had our 26th anniversary this year too. Congrats!

And YEAH to Danielle for making cheerleader. Just make sure she knows one of the requirements of being on the squad is that she has to character hunt with her mom! :thumbsup2

I enjoyed my wanderings around DHS too- just taking pictures of whatever I came across. Thanks for your photo tour reminding us just how old we are! HA! J/K, I'm with Glenn, it's funny that here we are saying, "Hey! I remember that!"

I am caught up again, Vanessa!

Love your new dining room! Very spiffy looking!

I am sorry to hear about your mom. :(

Congratulations to Danielle for making cheerleading, and I love your scrapbook pages. I really must get caught up on mine. I am still somewhere in 2009. LOL.

Great pictures of wandering around DHS. :thumbsup2

Thanks Janet! Our trip in 2004 was taken right after she had her first stroke and the brain bleed. It was a much needed trip after 3 1/2 months of drama.

Congrats to you and your DH too!

If I tell her that she'll want to quit the team.

The curse of getting old.:sad2: The next thing you know we'll be talking about those long walks in the snow to get to school.

Thanks Jackie! I'm loving my clean room.

Danielle is still pretty excited. They got to participate in the spring pep rally the week before spring break. She loved it, or course she loves attention.

I wish I had more time for scrapbooking. I'm still working on our trip for New Years 2006. I'm also working on a book for Danielle from her first trip in 2002 and just finished Michelle's book from the same trip. So much to do and so little time.:sad2:

I love wandering pictures they make great pages. Next time I want to get detail pictures.

Taking our famous poses is soooo hard when you are alone !!!That's why we need DIS MEETS so our imaginary friends can take them and humiliate us all over the Dis !!!:rotfl2:Oh wait a minute I humiliate myself :lmao::lmao:

I loved your Block Party Bash pics! I really wish we would have seen this from a good spot-we always seem to forget about the afternoon parade and just catch a piece of it. I've read that the new Pixar Pals one isn't nearly as good. :confused3

So sorry to hear about all the concern with your Mom! All that is very stressful I'm sure.

Your new dining room looks beautiful! What a great set!!! And after 12 years you TRULY deserve it!

Congratulations to Danielle and her friend for making the cheerleading team!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

But it's so much more fun when Dis friends join in!

I'm really glad we all got to see it at least once. I don't think I'll make the time to see the new parade after the reviews I read. I can just see Henry dancing around to Block Party Bash.

So sorry to hear about all the concern with your Mom! All that is very stressful I'm sure.

Thanks Brook. She gets out tomorrow and now we have to have a talk with my stepfather about our concerns. I'm not looking forward to this since I hate confrontation.

That room has never looked better. Or course Danielle wishes it was still her play room and Michelle wishes it was her bedroom. The room is 12 by 22. When Brent and Hannah used it, it was their bedroom/sitting room.

Congratulations to Danielle and her friend for making the cheerleading team!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We're supper happy for them and looking forward to next school year.:cheer2:

I am pictureless now, so I will definitely be back to read later. I can't wait to see your new furniture and see all your fun world pictures.

I am sorry to hear your mom is in such poor health. I really think you are doing the right thing by contacting hospice. It is very, very difficult to make end of life decisions and family members often don't agree. Just do what you think your mom would want and put her comfort foremost in your mind. I hope she continues to have good days!

Please keep us posted.

Thanks MEK! It has been hard. We meet with hospice last week and I think we made some headway into understanding what is truly going on and to coming to some agreements on the DNR.

Just checking in !!! Nice sunny day here for a change !!!

Hi Rosie! It's been very sunny here and I think we hit 100 today!

So sorry that I have once again been remiss in keeping the trip report moving. I'm hoping to have an update posted tomorrow night. That should complete our last DHS day and then we'll only have our last park day, MK and our departure day left. Summer is here and things should be slowing down.

In happier news, it looks like I will have a small trip to plan for early next year. Dennis has committed but until I get it booked I won't truly feel like it's happening. I include that information in my update tomorrow night too.

Thanks for hanging in there!:thumbsup2

Now I just need to get up to date on all the pre-trip and trip reports I so enjoy.

Hang in there Vanessa. I"ll keep your family in my prayers.

A new trip to plan for sounds like a great diversion. Can't wait to hear all about it! :wizard:

Thinking about a new trip should definitely bring you some much-needed happiness. Enjoy your planning! :goodvibes

Thanks Janet! It will be a short trip but that's better than no trip at all!:thumbsup2

When I last left off over a month ago we were checking out The Animation Building and I was begging Danielle to take some pictures with the characters. Of course she told me no. As we exited the building we were once trying to decide what to do next. It was 5:30 and out dinner ADR wasn't until 7:30. We consulted our times guide. I knew Dennis wanted to see Indy and the next show was just starting. Indy is another show that I can take it or leave it. Since we didn't see it in 2009 I was due to see it again. Making a quick decision we headed off in hopes of getting in at the last minute like we did for LMA. Luckily for us we did get in and once again we were seated in the area that was reserved for people who show up at the last minute. This area was all the way at the bottom and all the way to stage left. I personally have never sat here so I was looking forward to seeing the show from these seats. We had missed the time when they pick audience members but the real action hadn't started yet. Since all the pictures I have taken in the past have never come out I didn't even try to take any, but Michelle did. She actually got some okay shots.

Overall I really enjoyed seeing the show again from this vantage point. Of course next trip I'll want to skip it again.

Okay so once again what to do now? It still was a little early for dinner. We really wanted to catch the last Idol show but since it was at 7 it wouldn't work out with our dinner plans. It was getting dark.

In the end we just kind of looked around in the shops and slowly made our way out of the park. We said our final good byes to DHS and headed for the boat launch area. Our dinner ADR was for a place we had never eaten before. We headed to the Boardwalk area for dinner. Anyone remember where we were going to eat? Since it was the first Friday of Lent we were headed where anyone from Louisiana would go, somewhere we could get some seafood. Father Blanchard use to say that during Lent the people of South Louisiana didn't suffer at all since we have so much good seafood. Who wouldn't want an excuse to eat out every Friday night? The restaurants here make a killing on Fridays during Lent. So of course we were headed for Cape May Cafe.

Since we still had plenty of time we took the long way. We got off the boat at the Dolphin/Swan landing and walked all the way around. I wish I had pictures because we really had a good time just looking around and goofing off. We went into the ESPN zone and looked around. Dennis had been looking for a shirt but he didn't really find anything he wanted. The plan was to hit DTD after dinner since compared to our other nights this would be a fairly early night. We looked in the the shops all along the Boardwalk. We watched some entertainment. We also felt sorry for the people trying to make it up the hill on the surrey bikes, but also said we would really like to try it someday. Finally at last we made it to the Beach Club and entered. It was really beautiful and so relaxing with the nice beachy colors. We were still a little early but we checked in and had a seat in the lobby.

I'm very sorry to say that this was the only picture I took. By this point I was really tired. I have found some pictures that others have taken to share.

After a short wait, just long enough for Danielle and I to check out the restrooms and take a general look around we were seated. Now as far as seafood goes we have pretty high standards and although they didn't have what we would have found here we were still pretty happy with the offerings. Dennis, Michelle and I can eat a LOT of crab legs! I also enjoyed the salads and the boiled shrimp. Danielle found enough to eat to fill her stomach. Of course we all found plenty on the dessert bars. We finally rolled ourselves out and headed out front to find our way to our next destination.

All week long we had planned to make a return trip to DTD to buy all those things we wanted but didn't buy on our first day. But after eating they only thing we all wanted to do was go back to our room. We still had one more park day and it would be in the MK so we would just have to do all our shopping there. So Danielle has to say goodbye to her hopes of getting a bath fizz ball at Basin and settle for what she could find in the MK. When we walked out my feet piped up and suggested a cab, but my cheap husband who truly enjoys Disney transportation vetoed that idea. We walked down to the bus area and decided we would catch the first but that came along, go there and then take a but back to POFQ. The first bus to pull up was for the MK. We hopped aboard and headed for the MK. It ended up being a really good thing. We weren't too far from the POFQ bus stop and only 2 families were waiting when we got there. Before we knew it our bus pulled up and we were soon back in our room resting up for the next day's adventure.

Up next. . . .

Our last park day.:sad2:

I haven't seen Indy for quite some time either, and proabaly wouldn't mind seeing it from those good seats y'all got. Nice!

Glad you enjoyed Cape May! Lots of crab legs can never be a bad thing!! And neither can a quick-ish bus! Sorry you didn't get to DTD, but do know that feeling of just being DONE.
