Ladies - what do you wear to the parks?

I'd normally wear shorts, but I am thinking of dresses/ skirts for my August trip. I live in a year-round hot climate and I am finding that dresses/ skirts are a lot cooler and more comfortable than shorts.

How practical is it to wear dresses (knee length)? I'd like to be cool but I don't want throw all semblance of modesty out the window!

This may not be as much of an issue at WDW, but I remember going to Six Flags with friends. Guys would always be looking up while waiting in lines, and sure enough, girls wearing dresses/skirts were the attraction when climbing stairs.

I usually wear shorts and tees. If we go to WDW when its super hot, I will wear the moisture wicking fabrics-anything to stay cool!

I wear dresses rather that shorts all summer too, but for WDW I go for shorts or capris. I believe some of the rides have a harness that connects to the seat between your legs.

I wear nicer gym shorts and tank tops.
Comfort is tops with me.
I would wear a dress/skirt in evenings, though.

Capris and light weight shirts. I "feel" better this way. If I wear "shorts" I feel like I am constantly tugging at them as they rise, rise rise! :goodvibes

I think the riding up of shorts is a bigger-thigh issue. I never had that when I was skinnier, but hate wearing shorts now because I feel I am always tugging them down. So linen and cotton capris are my favorites. Tank tops, loose fitting tees, etc.

I am going in December this trip, so I am going to start a discussion about that time iof year...

I found some skorts I really liked at Walmart and bought it in EVERY color.
They are more comfortable than anything else I own. I will also be bringing a
couple of capri pants. I do not do shorts.

A few of the days we are there I am planning to wear short sundresses but, I will wear bike shorts underneath for modesty and to help prevent chafing on my thighs.

Shorts and tees or tanks for me always. I wear skirts an dresses at home in the summer but not at WDW. I also like to ear comfy sandals or cross-trainers and they don't go with skirts/dresses. My feet are the thing I want most comfotable on a WDW day.

Shorts, shorts, and more shorts!!! I love the tanks with the built in support, but they seem not to be the thing to wear anymore. I found some cute tops recently on a WDW clothes shopping spree (LOVE those!). My only problem is that without the built in support, even someone as (ahem) less-endowed as myself, needs a strapless now...I hope that will be comfortable!!! I have some new ones to try out -- DH loves them, me...not so sure!!!

Shoes - such a hard one for me. I'm not into crocs (sorry - don't be offended, my feet just look HUGE in them!!). I know sandals aren't the thing to wear, but I also hate wearing tennis shoes with socks and getting that weird "white-feet" syndrome!!! Besides, my feet want to breathe!!!! I look for sporty sandals with support and comfort. Tough one to find!!!

I, too was thinking of wearing skirts this year (my last trip was in August, this year will be in September) but I live in Houston and was wearing a cotton knee-length dress recently and found that my thighs rubbing together was VERY uncomfortable! (I should note that I am thin, so this has never been an issue until I ventured out in the 90 degree heat, walking all over town) So, as much as I love the little dresses, I would be wary because of feeling like I would have chaffing! Last year I wore lots of cotton shorts and cotton tanks with crocs and my all-time fav Disney World shoes- Old Navy flip flops. I was cool and comfortable (at least as much as possible in in FL heat) Just my opinion. Hope you have a great trip!:woohoo:

Have you tried the Teva mush or the Montrail Molokini's? REIoutlet.com has them on sale. The montrails are usually pretty exspensive but the outlet has them for about 20 some less. What ever the exspense they are suppose to be soooo worth it. I have some ordered since I've had back issues and am over-weight and have high arches in the feet, since this is THE shoe that everyone talks about to walk in the parks in, these or the Teva mush's. I would check them out!:cool1:

Millie-

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check them out. We're going to be out and about today doing some shopping & I'll see if I can't find a pair to give them a try before getting online. Thanks!!! :)

I prefer shorts or longer skirts, nothing to short-short. It seems as though that Disney has turned into a 6Flags/casual park when it comes to what some of the kids are wearing: practically nothing at all!:lmao: "Work out" clothes that are tight tight just don't seem appropriate to me, although comfort is key, there should be some type of boundaries- after al, it IS a family park.. For night time, simple dresses would be adoreable, but as someone else mentioned: during the day, riding the rides in a skirt might be a pain since some rides snap you in through the legs. Also remember: the tighter the shirt, the wetter the rides (Splash, Kali), the more there is to "show" when the wind blows..

I wore all capri's (the lightest weight ones I could find) and short sleeve tops.

It's funny that I found this thread because I was planning to post the same question about skirts. I never would have thought about it but I was watching You Tube and someone had one of those short cotton skirts on. I thought maybe it would be cooler too but didn't even think about the thighs rubbing together thing...and I'm thin too. I do love the plaid/madras bermuda shorts though! They are sooo comfortable! I think I will probably get a bunch of them and then maybe bring a skirt and try it one day. We plan to break in the afternoon to take naps or swim/water park etc., so even if it's uncomfortable I won't have to be in it all day!

Usually capris in cooler fabrics (seersucker comes to mind) and tshirts in cotton. I try to stick with light colors....black is great, but not in the heat!!

We go in August and like other posters I bring a couple dresses for the evening but during the day it is quick-dry shorts, tanks, crocs and my baggalinni. It was hard to find some quick-dry shorts that weren't super short but I found some really nice ones in the golfing sections. I even have some quick dry "skorts" now.
