Ladies over 30, do you remember this?

I remember when I was much younger you used to be able to buy your favorite perfume scent in a loose powder form. It came in a round box with a big, fluffy powder puff. All the fragrance counters had them to match every scent. My mother used to always buy the Jean Nate scent for herself. A young (23 yr. old) co-worker of mine said she has never heard of such a thing.

Am I dreaming, or did this really exist? If it did, why did they stop making it?

Yes, it did exsist! I remember it well, in fact, my MIL still has some of it!

I'm 27, but I remember those. :) My guess is that they (most of them, anyway, I'm sure you could still find a few) got discontinued because they were a HUGE mess! I remember my grandma having some of them, and boy, if you opened that thing at a *slightly* incorrect angle, you had that stuff EVERYWHERE.

I think you can still get it in some fragrances! I have an unopened gift basket of White Linen..by Estee Lauder, and there is one in it!! I think dh gave it to me last year..maybe it was 2 years ago...

Does that knowledge come from personal experience?:) I know I spilled my grandmas!

I am nearly 29 and I remember them! My mom had some and I remember using it a few times. I think my stepmom had some too in Chloe scent. I completely forgot about those!

My grandmother had a powder puff music box sitting on the back of her toilet. She filled it with Jean Nate perfumed powder. She let me cover myself in it whenever I came over. When she moved into a retirement community, she gave the music box to me. I gave it to my DD and she loves it. I need to look for some powder to refill it - we love to listen to the music. It comes on whenever the lid comes off the box.

another twenty something who remembers her mom having it. and yes, it was messy! :o ;)

I remember the Love's Baby Soft ones. That was my fav back in 5-6th grade. We are talking 25 or so years ago. Boy do I feel old!!

Only about fiftyeleven times! She spilled it herself too, though, so she didn't get too upset. :)

I got some last Christmas. Came from Victoria Secret but it was more glitter powder than perfume powder. Same concept though and very messy, especially with my littler one's!!

I had Pavlova, in the musical powder box that played "Swan Lake" every time you opened it! :rotfl:

My mom used to have those. I think hers came from Avon? I think powders in general might have been used more back when people didn't bathe as often. I remember only bathing once a week (Saturday night, to be pretty for church) unless we got particularly dirty.

My brother and I bought my mom one of these every year for Christmas when we were little. She wore "Heaven Scent"...no IDEA who made that! Light blue packaging though.

I believe COTY put out Heaven Scent.?? How about "I can bring home the bacon, fire it up in a pan, and never never never forget your a Man--cause I'm a WOMAN--Enjoli!" Thats from the 70's I believe.:p

My mom and grandmother used to wear "Evening in Paris" cologne (I think that was the name) and they always had the matching talc in the round blue box with the puff. I used to sneak in and use it all the time....my mother always knew because there would be powder all over the hardwood floor in her bedroom and you would slip on the floor in your shoes!:teeth:
