Ladies,,need Help Please

I was told today (after having an ultra sound done on my legs) that I need to wear COMPRESSION STOCKINGS ---either thigh high or panty hose....this is freaking me out....the Dr said it was do to poor blood flow inmy VEINS NOT my ARTERIES..(which he said was the good news) said this will not cause Heart attack, clot, etc...but that I NEEDED to wear the hose, cause my feet have been starting to swell....has/does any one have any thing similar to this??? I am a POOH size gal,,and can not find any THIGH highs to fit me,,,have to order themand they are going to be over a hundred dollars,,and of course I need more then one pair......I did have 2 different Drs say 2 different things GREAT!!!,,one said I could wear them at night when it was cool,,,the other said all day......if it not a thing that can KILL me (thats what he said lol) then I am just thinking if i need to spend all that money--

any help would be WONDERFUL..

Do you have a medical supply store available to you? Have you called your insurance company? Some insurance companies will get them for you for a reduced rate, and a medical supply company would be cheaper than some type of catalog. My friend (also Pooh-sized) has to wear these. We rarely see each other any more, but if I do see her I will ask where she gets hers. Good luck!

My MIL had to wear them, yes they are costly. She ordered her's through AARP and saved alot of money. See if you know someone who has the AARP catalog.

I was looking at a nursing catalog just the other day & saw something, I think it was nursesstation.com Let me check around. Our patients wear Teds, but I'm not sure where they are ordered from. I'll check a couple of site real quick though.

Very familiar w/ these. The valves in my veins either work very poorly or are nonexistent per my doctors. I should wear the stockings but don't...have had the veins stripped three times, am thinking I need to get it done again. The stockings ARE comfortable, and I'm always amazed by how much better my legs feel...they've hurt for over 30 years so I am just used to it...and I do get the stockings for free...insurance...but I don't know, just don't bother. If you aren't at the surgery stage...or now they have a new laser thing they can do if you haven't had the saphenous veins stripped...you should probably wear the stockings...postpone the other garbage until you have to.
