Labor Day Weekend, a labor of love?

Today was not the best day...so I had to share. We are doing some remodeling in our house. One room is empty and it is a fairly large room (about 20' x20') Because all the furniture is out, it made it so Zoe was inclined to "monkey around" in there. It is a sunken room and up on the step we have a cabinet that is normally in the room, but since we needed everything out, it had to be in the hall above. Well, in Zoe's scuffling about, she came upon the step too quickly and ended up doing a face plant onto the cabinet. She knocked out one front tooth and almost a second. (the second is loose now) Cuts and scraps..and a trip to the ER....what an evening. We had hoped that they would just put the tooth back in(it had the root attached still) Our primary doc said we could do it..or take her in. Well, they wouldn't help. (they were happy to take our copay though) They called a dentist who said he would be happy to see her and prep her for a fake tooth. :scared1: She is only 5... I wish she was a kid who would get a new tooth soon, but all my kids lost their baby teeth at late ages, so I figure she has a few years until her permanent tooth comes in. I am so sad by this. I have such a tooth/dentist phobia that this has just sent me into a panic of sorts. Luckily, Zoe seems to be recovering... :guilty:

Poor Zoe! I hope she is feeling better. I took the girls to the dentist a few months ago for just a checkup and they were just as nervous as me. However, it turned out to be a great experience and they really enjoyed it. If you can, try to find a kids dentist for her. That's what we chose and it really worked out. Haylee ended up having to have fillings and get nitrous. I was super nervous as was she but again, there was no reason. The dentist and assistants knew how to take care of her and relax her.

In the end, I think it is fine. I hate to miss block party though, so I might call to see if they have a later ADR available. I have never eaten at 50's prime time. Sci Fi I have twice...and really I am not so sure why. Food isn't excellent... atmosphere is kinda neat...kinda....

You are the only person other than me, I've ever heard say that about Sci Fi. My friend and I who ate there felt exactly the same way. We were under the impression the screens would be playing movies not continuous mini clips so we were slightly disappointed. The atmosphere is exactly the way you described and the food was ok but when I can get better elsewhere, I'd rather skip it.

Poor Zoe! How is she feeling now?
I broke my arm and front tooth when I was 9. It was a permanent tooth, so I had a cap until a few years ago when I finally got it crowned.
At least she can look forward to her adult tooth eventually coming in- just tell her to be careful with them! Does she need to get the fake tooth? Most of her friends will start losing teeth soon, so maybe she won't feel so out of place?

She is doing fine. I think I was the one more upset by it all. We saw an orthodontist today and everything looked good. The permanent teeth do not look damaged..it does appear she may loose the second tooth, but that won't even be the end of the world. Xray's looked good...nothing broken. I am very relieved.

I'm so sorry, but so glad she's OK. And this kind of stuff is always so hard. No one wants to see their baby in pain.

Yay, made the final payment on the trip! Getting closer... :)

:thumbsup2 Congratulations! That is the best feeling...

I am starting to see that 9/1 will be here very soon. I still have some things I need to accomplish.

I want to make a countdown calendar with the girls. I had thought that the 50 day mark would be a good day to start, but obviously that has come and passed. My hope now is to have it ready by next week.

I need to finish my planner. For this, I need to get ridemax. I had toyed around with organizing one day each week. (just to drag it out) Since we have 7 weeks left before the trip, and really 7 days to organize, that might work out just fine. That would mean that in the last week though, I would have to get the planner finished. I think I would prefer to get it done sooner.

I need to make mousekeeping envelopes. I have one left from a previous trip. I am hoping to just copy it. I need to make a total of 7 and then stuff them. I know it often comes up on the boards just how much to tip, so I might as well say it now... I plan to tip $5/day.

I am undecided on if I need to make other tip envelopes. I might since I will need more tips for other cm's. I can only think of bell services for when they bring the luggage. Anyone know of others? Who else is on your lists to tip? I know at TS restaurants, but I won't do envelopes for them. I mean, it is a nice idea and all..but I am sure that the poor servers are rushing around way too much to deal with a little decorated tip envie. Plus, I have done the cash tip at TS and just using the KTWC. Putting everything on the card was so much easier...but a bit of a surprise at the end. :scared1: Cash is nice to know where you sit. And on the perpetual question..how much do you tip bell services? I am not clear on that. $3 a bag, $5 a bag..??? So, bottom line is I need to know what I am doing to take care of other cms.

I need to buy the rest of the items needed for the trip. I had started a list of things, and while a lot of those items are still relevant...I am always coming across other items and thinking "oh, I need that..but didn't put it on that initial list". Things like pop up boxes to use for storage in the hotel.

Once I have everything needed, I will start to pack. First I will pack the personal bags for the flight. Next will be the checked bags. Last I will pack our carry on.

Okay, now that I have listed some of my goals..maybe I will put some deadlines to them.

So maybe this is why I am at good at my job. I love to plan out deadlines and then work by them.

So here is my plan..a count down of sorts to when I leave.

7/18 have supplies purchased for countdown calendar. I know...a count down to show the count down. I am ridiculous :rotfl:

7/21(6wks from departure) have countdown calendar finished and start on that day!

7/25 have purchased and installed ridemax

7/28 (5wks from departure) settle on schedule for all days.

8/1 have purchased remaining items to complete planner.

8/4 ( 4wks from departure) complete planner.

8/8 have purchased items needed to make tip envelopes.

8/11 (3wks from departure) complete and stuff tip envelopes.

8/15 have purchased everything needed for personal bags to go on plane

8/18 (2wks before departure) have purchased everything needed for room (storage, decorations etc.).

8/22 have purchased everything needed for girls and I (snacks, clothing etc.).

8/25 (1wk before departure) have packed personal bags for the trip

8/29 (3days before departure) pick up mom from bus station

8/30 (2days before departure) have packed bags to be checked.

8/31 (1 DAY until departure) have packed carry on luggage.

9/1 DEPARTURE DAY !!!!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

So in the heat we are having, there is really nothing I can do but sit behind my computer and tinker with my plans :surfweb: In my latest, sitting looking at all the entertainment on the given days we will be in each park I came to realize something that has me sad. Well, only a little. I am sure it can be fixed or dealt with. I had decided that booking the fantasmic dinner package was a must with my mom. I thought priority seating would be a great idea. 9/2 (our first real day) will be our ONLY day in DHS. This in and of itself not a huge deal. We can totally do this park in a day. However, I did not want to miss Block Party Bash. However, I made our ADR at Mama Melroses for...you guessed it...exactly when that is going on. Now, I could book a later ADR..they are not full. It would not be the dinner package so I have to decide if that means more than the Block Party Bash. The other thing is that they have changed the menu just since we were there in February. I loved..loved...LOVED the honey hazelnut cheesecake. It was one of the reasons I wanted to go back there. It is NOT on the current menu that disney's site has. So now, the draw to go there is less. Really though, where else would we go. I am afraid it isn't the best us of TS credit either. Oh...what to do, what to do. Kira is off at work right now, so I can't even run it by her. I am sure she has a good opinion. Maybe I will post on the dinning boards to see just how worth it the dinner package is....

Ya know, the Fantastmic package is not really all that. Priority seating just mean you get to sit in a special roped off section, it doesn't entitle you to get into the stadium any earlier. Honestly, it didn't look like there was a bad seat in the house, and I prefer sitting further back than front anyways, so even with the passes you have to wait anyways. So I would probably just change your ADR so you can see both the Block Party and Fantasmic!

Today was not the best day...so I had to share. We are doing some remodeling in our house. Oooh, where do you get your design for tip envelopes? Usually I just lay out cash and a note, but I would like to leave a cute envelope if I could!

My way of packing with my busy schedule is to have a huge tote bag sitting near my closet that I can "drop" clothes and other items that I might want to use for the trip as I come across them every day as I get dressed, or fold clothes etc. As you can see I will usually end up with an overflowing tote bag of clothes! A week before we depart I will actually start to pack based on all the items I've narrowed down in the tote and then actually organize stuff into the suitcase from there. I don't usually bring daily "outfits", I bring "options" which means I usually have a rough outfit planned, but I bring things which are interchangeable, like tops that I like to wear when it's cooler, or warmer, or cover-ups I can wear on top of a bathing suit when I know I'll be a Kali River Rapids, etc. I usualy like to dress once I know the weather each day. Well, I am pretty sure each day will be HOT, but I have different things I like to wear if it's rainy vs sunny. LOL.

The only reason I can see to keep it...you get an appetizer with the meal. Not a huge deal, but might be nice.

Oh no! Poor Zoe! She must have had a rough week! Ouch! I hate going to the dentist too. She sounds like a real trooper though! Hope she feels better!

She is doing much better. The swelling is really going down. The tooth that was knocked loose, but not out is dangling low though. The ortho said it would possible fall out due to all the trauma. At first I didn't want that...but now that all the swelling is going down that tooth sits way lower than the rest and looks like a monster tooth. Maybe it would look better out. :sad2:

Oooh, where do you get your design for tip envelopes? Usually I just lay out cash and a note, but I would like to leave a cute envelope if I could!

I have spent way too much time on the computer today..I have to get busy. I will try and post a picture later. I know there are sites to download graphics..but I just did it myself with ribbon and paper and a stamp.

I am already using this method. I have bags with stuff placed in them already. I need to get things cleaned up and organized. I do pack the same way..with options. I never know until the day of what I want to wear. This top with this bottom...I may have thought originally that I would do a different top and bottom..but often it doesn't turn out that way.

I love how organized you are. I wish I could be that way, too. I still have so much more to do in such a short amount of time.

YAY for 7 WEEKS!!! :cool1: I need to start organizing more, too. I have to say as time is getting closer, I feel completely overwhelmed by all that I still need to do.

I love how organized you are. I wish I could be that way, too. I still have so much more to do in such a short amount of time.

Thanks so much, I am trying to get organized. I have so much between work, the family, the house...I thought if I could break out what I need to do then maybe not only will it give me something trip related to do, but will help me to not get overwhelmed by it.

A few days ago I paid off the remaining balance on the trip. I did this online. I like the fact I don't have to wait through the automated phone system, but I know that their online system leaves a bit to be desired. Twice, I made a payment that never showed and I had to call it in anyway.

So now I am worried something has gone wrong with my final payment. Why?

Because here is how my emails have gone.

Monday 7/12 " Your reservation confirmation" - doesn't show payment just the fact I have made the reservation. I am not sure why, but each online payment has triggered a new reservation confirmation. All have the same reservatioin number.

Tuesday 7/13 "invoice reservation" - shows payment history and balance of 0

Thursday 7/15 "invoice reservation" - shows payment history and balance of 0

Thursday 7/15 "invoice reservation" - shows payment history and balance of 0

I am afraid to log on and see what I find. They all have the same reservation number. I am just not sure what is triggering the multiple emails. Maybe Disney just wants me to be extra excited that I have the package paid off? :rotfl:

At least they are all saying the balance is 0! Though I hope they don't think you paid 3 times!

On a similar note, all of my ADRs have our honeymoon listed as a celebration about 100 times when I log in to see my dining. I don't know how it happened, but it sure does make it look like I am way too excited about the honeymoon. Their online systems seem a bit glitchy.

I don't think I already commented on your time line- so organized! I am impressed. Sounds like you will be very busy for the next couple of months, but won't forget anything!

:rotfl: Too funny about being so excited about your honeymoon. You should be..but 100 times? Hmmm.. yes, their system seems a bit glitchy. I am always teasing dh about how he should go to work for them. (he is a software engineer/architect for an online company) Disney's office for their website is up my way... and they are almost always hiring. Sadly, dh likes where he works.:sad2: I just keep thinking...what kind of benefits would he have if he worked for Disney. :rotfl: would it mean more trips to disney???

As for my time line...I am truly not that organized. I was avoiding doing work or house cleaning yesterday and thought of a way to shrink the time I had between now and when the trip is. I noted what I wanted/needed to do and just puts dates to it. I do work better with dates in front of me. Plus it really narrows things. I mean..I only have 3 days till I have to have something done for the trip. I think this keeps me excited for the trip. (like I need help with that. :rolleyes1) and also helps me to get everything done.

Yay, made the final payment on the trip! Getting closer... :)

How is Zoe doing? Poor thing.

I"m hpoing to make final payment on my trip next week. If everything goes right.

Congrats on the final payment. That is such a good feeling to have it paid off. Once I get mine paid off I start to work on spending cash. I'm not sure how much to bring this year.

We purchase a gc to t-rex(Riley's request) along with build a dino. Dh wants rainforst and I want Garden grill. Reese don't care she is 2. I just hope she isn't cranky on the trip like she has been somedays this week.

Airtran just switched are flight I'm going to call in a few and see if we can get the later flight out on sunday. We are shceduled to leave at 730 am in the morining on the way home. Zoe is doing much better, thank you. Her swelling is almost gone.

I am trying to figure out how much for spending too. I need to have enough for tips and the oop meal. We really are not big souvenir people so I think the gift card I got will be plenty for that. I do still have to pay for our bags on the airline. I am not sure how many we will have so i am gonna wait on that. My mom says she will just use a carry on. I am not sure that will work. I think maybe we can cut down to 3 bags between the 4 of us to be checked...but not much below that.

I hear ya on the return flight. I always try to go as early as possible on the way out..and as late as possible on the way back. Course, this trip we have to leave my house at 5am and we will still not get to Orlando until 5pm. So leaving early really doesn't get us that much extra time there.

Signing on to your PTR! I wanted to say that i think I got a couple of emails when I paid off our trip a couple weeks ago. That being said, I have two reservations (one for me, one for my SIL) and I can't remember if we got two emails for each or not. I am pretty sure we did, though. One the day we paid it off and one the day after. Something must be wonky with their system!
