My mom and I are staying at AKL (Club Level) in May and we were looking at the activities to do at WDW/AKL and we both are interested in La Nouba and Wanyama Safari because both of them are pricy and our schedule we can only do one of them.

The Wanyama Safari sounds fun, but we were wondering if it's just like the safari ride that we do at Animal Kingdom, and while we like that ride we don't want to pay for something that's exactly like the ride.

I love Cirque Do Soleil as does my Mom, and we haven't been to a show in awhile. Is it any good?

Which one is better/should we do?

I don't know...but I'd like to. I'm kind of like you...it seems like the safari would be pretty much the same as the free one at the park.

We did the Wanyama Safari last year. It was a tour through all of the savannas at AKL and provided many very up close views of the animals and a wealth of information about them. It concluded with dinner at Jiko. There was a sampler of appetizers, 3 entrees (beef, chicken and fish) and a dessert sampler. When we did it the apps and entrees were served family style, but someone who did it more recently said it is now individually plated, but still included all 3 entrees. We enjoyed our tour and would love to do it again.

We haven't seen La Nouba, but it is also very popular and highly praised.

I don't think you could go wrong with either activity.

One thing to consider is the Wanyama Safari can only be taken if you are staying at AKL whereas La Nouba can be booked by everyone onsite or offsite.

Done them both Cirque Do Soleil is far more worth the money. If you get tickets get them up higher and im the middle you get the whole experience far better. Up front you miss some of the action up high and are always moving your head side to side and up down

I have seen La Nouba 4 times over the past 15 years (I like Cirque shows). It is fabulous. And yes, like all Cirque shows, the upper tier is much better than the lower, and less costly to boot.

Join the Cirque Club online, possible discounts. AP discounts often too.

I've done both and love both of them. In 2006, I took my sister and her two daughters and did both in that trip. We are all going together again this summer and they picked the Wanyama Safari to do again and said they would wait until next time to do LaNouba again.

Only saying this to show different people like different things. I wouldn't say the Wanyama Safari is at all like the one at the park.

I did the Wanyama Safari last march and it was well worth the cost! I wrote up a pretty detailed report on the safari (the link is in my Signature).

One change I've read is that the dinner is now served individually (i.e., not served family style). All safari guests are still seated together, but food is served on individual plates.

We have done both. We did Wanyama Safari in August for our 20th anniversary and had done Cirque prior to that. I would definitely vote for the safari. It is not the same ride you do in the parks and is absolutely amazing! The ride through the savannas with the keepers is so great and informative. The dinner was fabulous and we felt so very spoiled by the whole experience. My kids loved it and couldn't stop talking about it the whole trip. It was great to look out on the savannas and know all the stories about the various animals out there. We liked Cirque and have done other Cirque shows as well. It's a great show but you can do Cirque without staying at AKL. The safari is a perk for staying there and I would definitely take advantage of it!

We haven't done the safari but have done the circus. I did call and inquire about the safari a few days ago and I have to say, the description given made it sound amazing. However, we will be a party of 5 and the cost was a bit steep; $190.00pp. I am sure it would be worth every penny as it includes a fabulous excursion through the safaris of AKL (not the park) at dusk as well as a delicious dinner at Jikko's. If you can swing the cost, I'd experience the safari and do the circus another time. Like other posters stated, you can only do the safari if you are staying at AKL so unless you stay there regularly, you may not have a chance to do it any time soon. You can book the circus no matter where you stay, though, I must admit, it was a fabulous show and you couldn't go wrong if it better fits your budget. If you book the circus, you can always add a nice dinner to your evening, thus creating your own dinner show.
