I get a lot of people who ask me what Kungaloosh! means, so I figured I'd start a thread. :)

"Kungaloosh!"

It's an all purpose word meaning hello, goodbye, how's it going etc. from the Adventurer's Club at Disney's Pleasure Island.

A Kungaloosh is also the official drink of the AC. :) It's a tasty tropical concoction served in a cocunut head with a straw. It's very silly. ;)

The Adventurer's Club is GREAT. It's like you just get immersed in this other world.

It's supposed to be like an early 1900's explorer's club. They have actors who walk around, put on shows, interact with the guests. It's not a nightclub or a dance club. It's a place where people can just sit back and have a drink and chat with the cast, and other guests.

You do usually end up talking to people too. There's just something about the place that makes everyone want to talk to the people sitting across from them.

It's sort of hard to explain. They put on shows, and they have these neat effects, like the wall masks talk to people but it's not prerecorded, they just intereact with whoever is in the audience. :) There is also a cool effect of a disembodied genie head in a case in one of the rooms who also talks to people. He's not scary, he's just funny. Also, the Colonel. The Colonel is like this animatronic puppet who also interacts with people.

It's just such a neat place. Words don't do it justice.

Here are the words to the Adventurer's song which they have sing alongs of all night while you're there :) They also teach you the Adventurer salute.

Marching along we're adventuers...
Singing the Songs of adventuers...
Up or Down...
North, South, East or West...
An Adventuer's Life is Best!

Everyone gets really into it. Here is a web site about it!

Kungaloosh!

I have never been to the Adventurer's Club! I guess I need to go one of these days, but with two kids, it has just never come up! LOL

Neat! I always wondered what it meant too. :) That drink sounds yummy!! The genie head reminds me of PeeWee's Playhouse.

I always wondered what it was until last week. I was reading my grandmother's Disney magazine (yes, she's a disneyaholic too) when it had a little thing about AC in there and said Kungaloosh was a favorite drink of the regulars. A lightbulb went off in my head and I felt so "in the know" after that. ;)

I was curious, too! Thanks for the description! I am hoping to reap the rewards of PI when my kids are older!

Kungaloosh, EsmeraldaX!!

Our second favorite place to go on PI......the first being the Comedy Club. LOL

I wonder if anyone remembers when they did different shows in the main theater through the evening? Now I believe they ONLY hold the telethon in the main theater there....but the other shows were every bit as funny if not more so. I miss that.

Esmerelda, I'll think of you next week as I Kungaloosh my evening away!!! :Pinkbounc :teeth:

And here I thought it meant what happened after Monty Dog ate the plastic flowers........

what??? are you kidding???

if that is true, that really sucks! :(

We'll be heading to the Adventurer's Club Friday night right from the airport. We can't wait!

You are reminding me of Hitchhikers Guide and the many uses for a towel.

Sherri, I know you know this- What is the answer? 12? You know the Earth ended at the same time that little girl figured out the question involving the meaning of life? I really cannot remember the answer that the book furnished.

Hey, E--thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to go to the Adventurers Club but I was uncertain about taking dd there. Do you think it would be weird to take a 14 yo? Can she even get in?

If not, <sigh>, I'll have to wait till she's old enough to come along! I can't leave her sitting alone in the hotel room till we come back.

Sheri, when I was just there, they of course sang the song. When we Kungalooshed mine was to you. My daughter just rolled her eyes. It made me enjoy it all the more.

I also couldn't belive some of the same CM were still doing the show.

Caity, that is not true. We caught the Bolderdash show. I was pompus boys object of affection. :p

--------Oh Fletcher Hodges!!!!!!!!!! I walk around calling my son that way.........

I'm excited - this is something I've missed every trip and even when I lived down there I didn't go. It's on the must do list for next week! :)

I've been going there since I was a kid just following my parents in there. I still LOVE it! My DH and I are new parents and find it hard staying up late w/ the little ones. So we haven't been there in a few years. But I look forward to the time I can visit the AC once again.

Kungaloosh to you!!!! Thanks for the smile.

When I was there in Feb, they had various shows in the main room, the theater and the mask room and the room with the genie head. :)

I'd say for the most part it's PG-13 but occasionally, it gets a little risque (you can't really control what someone in the audience says). It really depends on the kid. :)
