Krystal's FREE Pop swap! CLOSED-Thank you Pop Century for adding fridges!

I would like to be put on the list for 11/26-30 if possible. I would also love to help with organizing the swap after you Krystalleigh1 but I wouldn't be able to take over properly until after the 24th of December (we will be out of town a lot up to that point) so if you can find someone to take over from mid Sept. to Dec. I will be more than happy to take over after that!:thumbsup2

That would be great! I'll add you to the list right now for Nov. 26-30th. To confirm you can pm me the following:
1. Name on reservation
2. phone #-preferably a cell # where you can be reached while at WDW.
3. Confirmation #
4. E-mail address (also please add my e-mail krystalleigh1@yahoo.com to your address book)

As far as taking over the swap, I'm really looking for someone to take it over after I leave on vacation in the middle of Sept. I'm not going to enjoy doing this after we return from vacation. I don't want to think of all the people having fun at WDW after I've returned. :sad1: But if no one steps up to take over before I leave for vacation then I'll probablly take you up on your offer of taking over the swap at the end of December. Thank you for offering.

Organizing-for anyone else who's contemplating organizing the swap after I retire (mid September) here's a break down of what you'd do as the organizer:
1. Reply to posts and pm's when fellow DISers have questions about the swap.
2. Get and organize everyone's confirmation info. I put it all on Microsoft Works calendar. I also have everyone's e-mail address added to my e-mail account so I can do mass mailings. Much easier than pm-ing because you can only pm 5 people at a time.
3. As it gets closer to vacation dates e-mail the swappers the contact info for those directly before and after them in the swap. (This step could probablly be skipped if swappers wanted to just contact the people before and after them by pm themselves to get the contact info.)
4. E-mail any important updates or fridge swapping rules to swappers (I already have this info typed up and saved).

The fridge is already paid for so the new organizer wouldn't have to do anything as far as collecting any payments, unless for some reason the fridge would get lost or broken and you decided to buy a new fridge for the swap. If the fridge would get lost I guess the organizer could try to contact Pop, but most of that burden would probablly be on the swapper who just had the fridge, or the swapper who'll next need the fridge. Mainly the swap organizer would just organize the info. and reply to pm's or posts made by people wanting in on the swap. Pretty easy-and dosen't take much time or effort-I just don't want to do it after I leave for my own vacation.

If anyone has questions about organizing the swap please let me know. I really want to find someone to take over the swap when I leave in mid Sept.

Krystal, I can take over the organizing in September if you wish. I want to be sure it's going strong when it gets to my turn in December. I'm fairly new here, but I think I can figure it all out OK. I just hope that November gap gets filled in a bit. :scared1:

That would be great!!

I won't be dropping off of the face of the earth after vacation, but I probablly won't visit the DIS several times a day like I do now. So you can still ask me any questions you may have. And it really shouldn't be too hard. All I've had to do so far is answer questions and keep track of confirmation info. It's more of an organizational thing more than anything else.

As it gets closer to November I'm confident that the dates will fill up. Also, mmkk has agreed to take over the swap after Dec. 24th, if you'd like, so it wouldn't be a real long term commitment to organize. I could always put you down as organizer from Sept. 16-Dec 24th and then you could pass on the reigns to mmkk. How does that sound?

No problem taking over for a while. :thumbsup2 I'm here constantly trying to learn all the tricks and tips for my own vacation. Don't worry about it, go have a great vacation next month and know that everything is still going strong.

dkferret (BTW do you have any ferrets? :) ) let me know if you need to me to take over at any point, even if you just need a short break1 I am sure I will still haunt the DIS board well after I have had my WDW vacation! I have learned so many things from this board-I don't want to lose it!

Yes, I have ferrets, and the dk are my initials. I have volunteered for ferret shelters since 1989, and I am currently the treasurer for the Greater Chicago Ferret Association. Years ago I had 32 personal ferrets (I used to take home the older or sicker ones so they wouldn't have to live their lives in a cage, they are harder to adopt out), but that was too many for me to handle at home. I now have 10 ferrets, 6 sugar gliders, 2 cockateils, 1 trumpeter pigeon, 3 rats, a beagle mix and 2 mini dachshunds, all from shelters. Our shelter has about 100 ferrets. Thanks for asking. A friend of mine is going to live in my house to take care of my animals while I go to Disney.

You can probably take over the swap at the end of the year, if you like. I'll be around still too, but maybe not as often as I am now.

We have two ferrets, both were from a ferret shelter. We've had four since my DH and I got married 10 years ago. My DD (2 1/2) loves our male ferret and he loves her-she carries around everywhere when we let them out of their cage, I think he prefers this mode of transportation! I am just waiting for her to start dressing him in doll clothes!

Kudos to you for running a shelter! There isn't enough people like you in this world! :flower3:

We can talk about the switch over closer to December unless you need me before then. Thank you for filling in until then!

Have you ever been to a ferret show? We hold one in Chicago every October, and I just got back from one in Columbus, OH. Girls are walking around with their ferrets in strollers like little dolls, and the costume contests are great, people get so creative in how they dress their ferrets! Your daughter is normal in my world. Glad to see another ferret person! Ferrets are just so much fun, too bad they turn into little cancer factories when they get old. :sad1:

To everyone else, sorry about getting off topic. But hey, we are going to keep this swap running, so put up with us!!! :thumbsup2

Hey, anything to keep the thread on the first page!:thumbsup2

Thanks both of you for stepping up to organize. It really takes a load off my mind.

djferret-I'll send you what info I have in the next few weeks. Do you think we'll need to start a new thread? That way you'll be able to edit the list?

Do you think we'll need to start a new thread? That way you'll be able to edit the list?

I wonder if we should leave this thread as is. You can always put on the first page that the updated list is now on page xx, and I can post it there and be able to edit from there. You are already on the sticky and the others on the swap have saved this thread.

OR we can put a link to a new thread.

Do you have a preference? I'd lean towards leaving it here for now, unless the thread gets too long.

That makes sense. Yep, I bet the way to go would be to put that the updated list is on x page. Then I'll pm the moderators that you're in charge of the swap starting Sept 16th. (I don't know where those modorators are though, they haven't updated the sticky for about 2 months). Then maybe they can change the info. on the sticky. I hate to have a bunch of people pming me when I don't check in on the DIS very often.

The mods said they are overwhelmed by the large number of swaps going on and haven't been able to update them yet. I think most people looking for a fridge would just click on the link in the sticky to go to your thread, seeing that the last update was a while ago (at least that was what I was doing). I looked at the threads to see if my dates were open before I considered pm'ing anyone. Actually, I found this thread via a search for fridge swap, it was later that I figured out about the sticky. I wouldn't worry about it.

dkferret will be taking over the swap soon. Just wanted to let everyone know. At that time the updated swap list will not be on page one anymore-since she can't edit that. Instead, the updated list will be later on in the thread. I'll post the page of the updated list under the first post. So, in about a week or so any questions about the swap can be directed to dkferret. I'm sure she'll do a great job! :thumbsup2

BTW-Trying to fill Sept. 29-Oct 5th's spot. Anyone need a fridge then?

Welcome to our swap mh1973! :grouphug:

Now, unless someone dropps out of the swap, all of our available dates are less than 2 weeks apart for the rest of the year!!!:cool1:

Anyone? :confused3 Sept. 29th-Oct 5th? It's FREE!

I Krystal,

I'am new on this forum and I would like to participate for the fridge swap. I would like the fride from november 11 to 17th 2007.

I don't know how to send you a private message. I have my number confirmation from Disney.

Could you help me please?

Thanks
