Kristen & Doug's Wedding: 5.5.12 - TR Day 3 (Updated 6.14)

LOL! And in CA, the big phrase at the time was 'hella', which to this New Englander, just sounds ridiculous. :rotfl:

I agree! haha Perhaps I am bias, but I would rather go around saying "wicked" instead of "hella"!! haha

Not too much new in the wedding department.. I sent off the deposit check to Rev. Tim Herring. We aren't doing a religious ceremony, and he seemed pretty nice judging from his website, and by all the wonderful reviews on here. (Where would us Disney brides be without this board?!)

We're still working on the music stuff. Sorry, I'm working on the music stuff and Doug is "thinking about it" ;) I know for sure that I want to walk down the aisle to either 'A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes' or 'When You Wish Upon a Star'. For years and years, whenever I wished on a star (or the good ol' 11:11), I always wished "to be happy". After years of unhappiness due to health or not-so-healthy relationships, it really was a dream come true to find such happiness with someone. :lovestruc

Oh! Wait! There is semi-big news! I was going through the Recycled Bride site and found a girl selling the dress I fell in love with at David's Bridal. AND in the size that I tried on! :cool1: And, most importantly, $150 cheaper than DB is selling it! This calls for multiple bananas -

I feel like this is the worst pic ever on their website. It doesn't show any of the pretty sparklies (I do love sparklies :goodvibes) along the top. And being as I'm rather small on top, I love that it makes me look a bit more buxom. :rotfl: So hopefully I should hear back from the girl soon, and then I can take pics of me in it! I'll feel so cool then ;)

Not too much is new. I still haven't heard back from the girl about the dress yet.

After some input from fellow DISboarders on the facebook page, I decided to contact Randy Chapman for photography. Pictures are the most important thing to me and to only be able to have a few from Disney? That just doesn't work. It'll be a stretch, and I may have to cut back on some other things, but like I said, photos are the most important!

My parents and my aunt and uncle surprisingly booked their rooms last week. They're only going down for the weekend, but I'm glad that my parents will have someone they know very well (my aunt is my mom's oldest sister) that have been to the parks before.

I'm starting to get super duper excited - the ticker's below five months now! :cool1:

YAY! Don't you love when people start booking their rooms?? It just makes it feel "real"! :goodvibes If you don't hear back on the dress, you can also try a website I recently came across : ruffledblog.com, there is a "recycle your wedding" on there, people sell their decor, centerpieces, dresses, what have you. worth a shot!

also yay on sending your deposit to Rev Tim and contacting Randy! Pictures are super important to me too so we're bringing our photog down from CT! Randy does seem to get a lot of great reviews from everyone who uses him!!

We're at 149 days today!! :yay:

I completely just danced in my chair - 149 days! :dance3:

Thanks for the website link. I hadn't heard of that one before. I do have a couple of options... on here, LuvLuvLuv messaged me about the same dress, and there's a very similar one on that Light in the Box website for $250. I feel like for the most part, nearly everything's set except for the dress :confused3

And it's 15 minutes later now, since I got distracted by that website :rotfl:

Hello my Tudor friend.

Stupid doctor, doesn't he know he's supposed to be caring, I can't drive either.

I hope you can get Randy & your dress.

Good timing, as we're watching the show right now ;)

Every doctor in that entire building has been an issue. I really don't understand why my ability to drive is such a huge problem. It isn't for anyone else. :confused3

The good news is that Randy's available! As soon as he gets back to me on a couple of questions, I'll be sending the contract and deposit in. Yay for little victories!

:cool1:  :cool1:

It's turning out to be a good day!

Randy emailed me back, so the contract will be going out tomorrow, AND the girl on recycledbride finally messaged me back, too!

I have a dress! :dance3:

It'll need hemming (the joys of being 5'2"), but it already has the "bustling attachment" in case the tail, oops, train gets annoying. ;)

Thats great that u got randy & ur dress!! :cheer2: I am using him as well 4 my VR in april... do u have a pic of ur dress?? Thats exciting :woohoo:

Seven posts above yours. :) I feel like DB used a terrible pic of it, so once it comes in and the hemming takes place, I'll definitely post a better picture! Theirs doesn't properly show the sparklies at the top :goodvibes

Congratulations! Randy is fabulous: his pictures are awesome, and he's really nice and easygoing. He knows Disney weddings like the back of his hand: we're using him next month, and he took our engagement pics.

I'm so happy you have a dress too! Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on getting your dress...one stressful thing down...and Randy...two stressful things down. How many more to go?

I'm joining in!

* You and your DF sound just like me and my DH! Like you, I love to read (I'm in school right now to become a librarian), and I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan! My DH is a computer programmer who loves Star Trek and video games :)
* Love your ring! The tanzanite stones are so pretty, I got a pair of earrings with tanzanite on my last cruise. Sadly now my ears react badly to earrings and I haven't been able to wear any earrings at all in the past few years.
* I agree with you that at least for me, $450 is more than I would pay for a dress. There are some really nice ones out there for a less, and even though it's a once in a lifetime dress it's still a dress you're only going to wear once. I got mine at DB on clearance for $250.
* Love the Malibu blue!
* Yes, another Ravenclaw (I don't care what Pottermore tells me)! My wedding colors were royal blue and silver ;)
* What a horrible doctor! I hate driving, but it is a necessity where I live. I didn't get my license til I was 22 though.
* I'm so glad you got your dress!! It looks nice in the picture but I'm sure it will look even more lovely on you! I feel like the girl in the DB picture has a really weird, hunched over pose that makes the dress not look as good! :lmao:

That was one of my main reasonings in choosing him - so many good reviews on here. And of course the prices were a big factor, too ;)

Thanks!

Thanks!

Let's see... I think all that's left that's stress-inducing is... figuring out how to print the invitations and the cost of everything :lmao: Oh, and picking out music. But other than that, I'm feeling pretty caught up :)

Hello! :)

We do sound an awful lot alike! If I can ever get financial aid and what not, my dream job is to be a librarian. Being surrounded by books all the time would just be wonderful. Certainly beats working in retail!

Oh, yay, you got into Pottermore, too! I've also decided that the garter I'll be wearing will be blue and silver. Now if I can fit some sort of reference to the Tudors time period into the wedding - oh, and Lord of the Rings - most of my fandoms will be included. Ah, yes, the life of a to-be-married geek. :lmao:

I briefly had my permit... it expired this past August. :confused3 I've driven for 15 minutes of my life, and never went over 15mph. I maintain that I'm an awesome passenger. Somebody has to navigate and what not ;)

Seriously, that pose is terrible. Nearly all of the others have the girl at least standing fully upright. Hmph!

Just found the time to read your PJ!!

Your ring is gorgeous and I think your story is sweet! I like that you're a no fuss kinda gal!

We have all of the same interests- love it!!

I love your dress and your plans!

The flower inspiration pictures are really pretty! I especially love the second one.

Congrats on getting your ADRs, Randy, and the dress!! Woohoo!

Thanks, Faith! I think I'm leaning to something similar to that second bouquet. Just gotta hope it's not TOO expensive! ;)
