Good Evening!

Is anyone else disappointed with the recent or semi-recent updates to Kona Cafe. My family and I have been going since 2011, with the last time having gone in 2016. Since our 2016 visit they changed the bread from a fluffy Hawaiian bread to rolls, made the menu more limited, and had a tendency to overcook the food. The later could be due to just an off night but my family and I were really disappointed. It was our favorite resort restaurant :( . We really enjoyed the lamb and scallops, as well as, the banana dessert that is no longer available. Apparently they changed the executive chef and are trying to update the menu seasonally.

What are some other resort restaurants that you guys would recommend for our next stay?

Thanks!

They must have changed the exec chef again since we have been going there since 2012 and loved it, but when we went back in 2014, the new chef was horrible and we got sick from the food, and as you said it was overcooked. I wonder what's going on there?!

ETA: As for resort restaurants do you want suggestions from any resort?

I go to Kona every trip, but I only usually go for breakfast, which has been consistently good for me. :confused3 I have dietary restrictions and the chefs usually bend over backwards to make me special pancakes or Tonga toast that is gluten & soy free, but still super yummy.

It could be more of a dinner and/or lunch thing. Disney generally is very accommodating. However, was surprised they didnt offer us the appetizer my father ordered to replace meal for free, given his food was overcooked and it ruined the dining experience for him. It's not uncommon for most restaurants to do it and I even have offered a complementary dessert or appetizer if the customer's order was unsatisfactory.
