Kohls' return policy

I absolutely agree. I'm so angry with them right now. I bought my husband a gold chain on Kohls.com and when it arrived this week it is so ugly. TRIED to take it back today with a receipt and my credit card and the manager refused to put the charge back on my credit card. I called customer service and got no help. It says right on their return policy that you will receive the credit in the form you paid. NO one will answer me why. After almost an hour the manager would not budge. After the phone call to kohls.com and no help, I'm still struggling with what to do with this $200 gold chain. This is a beware to others! Any suggestions would be helpful. My only recourse is to pay to send it back and HOPE they credit my card. I do not need a $200 store credit when they no longer had any nice chains left to choose from. We had to go elsewhere to buy husband a gift. They advertise this wonderful easy to return policy on their website and when I went to use it, the rules all seem to change and no one in the store will tell be why. When the manager scanned my receipt the register will only offer a store credit.

The only time I am aware they do that is if you are flagged as someone who returns high ticket items frequently. Do you do allot of returns? Usually their corporate office will bend over backwards to make the customer happy.

I bought my sister some maternity clothes in May of 2003 when she was trying to get pregnant. She got pregnant & then miscarried at 10 weeks. Then she got pregnant 2 more times and lost the babies quite early on. After they decided to adopt in 2005 I returned them in November WITH my receipt and was given exactly what I paid in the form of credit on my Kohl's card which was what I paid with.

Also, BEWARE, my father-in-law tried to use a Kohl's gift card that he had for 3 years. After a year or 18 months, they start deducting a 1.50 amount per month. Needless to say his giftcard had a 00.00 balance. Nice, huh?

A lot of stores do this.... some say they donate the money to charity if the card isn't used after so long, but many of them start deducting so much per month after so many months of non-use...

That's what I was thinking - I've never seen any shoes at Kohls for 50 cents. The "original" price on my shoes was $59.99, so my 50 cents was less than 1% of the original price. Do they ever mark anything 99% off? If so, I want to go to that sale.

Believe it or not, they do. These are the red tag clearance items. I've been a Kohl's shopper for many years. I've been told that unlike Target, Kohls never donates their items. They will keep them in the store forever until they are sold. Several years ago, I was browsing through a clearance rack and came across a Mike Jordan Bulls jersey. It has a clearance tag on it for 25 CENTS! I took it to the register and sure enough, it rang up at 25 cents. I asked the girl how that could be true and she said that either they found it in the store room or someone returned it very late. Either way, it was 25 cents and I bought it for my daughter. She was thrilled!

I've actually made money returning things to Kohls. Not on purpose. I bought some pants and misplaced the receipt. They didn't fit right and I returned them the next week. They gave me the price that they were currently on sale for. I couldn't remember how much I paid for them but it was less than the credit I got. It was a store credit but that was fine with me.

In some states (like CA) this is illegal. Check your state laws.

I bought a pair of New Balance tennis shoes there for $0.50!! I've never had a problem returning as long asI had a receipt.

Yes, this was the only thought we could come up with. I'm not a true Kohl's customer. I only shop there during the holidays or if they are having a good sale. I returned a hallmark ornament last year that was broken. Other than that, I may have returned maybe one thing a year back to them. This was the first time I returned jewlery or anything expensive. The only thing that we thought of, was I had two things to return when I got my online order. A sweater--wrong size and the chain -- butt ugly. I had to do the sweater in the back at customer service and did it first with no problem, but they wanted the jewlery return done up front. Daughter and I thought maybe this happened because I had already made a return that day. I wrote to their customer service yesterday and only got a form letter back describing their return policy, which I knew. They have to expect there to be more returns when the company has an online store because we all know that pictures and quality are deceiving online. :confused3
