Kitchen items in DVC studios

I am staying in a studio at VWL starting this Monday! Woohoo! I need a sharp knife to cut limes and a microwave safe dish to heat up dips. Do I need to bring these items or can I ask housekeeping for them? I do not think the studios have these items.

You might want to bring them with you - you could ask Mousekeeping for them, but as they're standard in a 1bedroom I don't know if they keep any extras available. (And I doubt they'd be willing to raid a 1bedroom to get them for you.) Personally, I'd think you'd have at least a 75% chance that they'd have extras but whether or not they'd a) bring them to you and b) bring them in a timely manner is the concern I'd probably have. Technically, since the bowls that *are* in the studio are basically paper (possibly plastic coated paper), they should be microwavable but I'm not sure they'd be big enough for you.

If you want a truly sharp knife bring it with you- I have never found that the knives at any of these places are what I consider sharp and bring my own no matter the size of the room.

Yes definitely bring a sharp knife with you. We bought one while there but it was hard to find a good one for a reasonable price. Also bought some festive bowls that were microwavable from Dollar store that worked great. Too bad they didn't have any sharp knives.

Are you making Margaritas?

Mousekeepers will definitely bring you a knife or bowl but it may not be what you are used to.

I always pack a paring knife in my stuff.

I have asked for and gotten a sharp knife from houskeeping, and I have also gotten wine glasses to use in a studio.

Thanks for the reminder about the knife, I need to get one to add to my OL inventory. Stayed at a studio in Feb and it was strictly plastic ware.

Will housekeeping give you more coffee if you ask? I'm a one cup a morning-single serve all the way. I looked up joffreys online $52 for 100...not bad but I don't need that much and I don't have an owners locker yet! This will be out first stay as owners! Yay

Yes - but they do charge you - I believe we were charged $3

I called housekeeping and requested a sharp knife and microwave safe bowl. They delivered both to my studio. The housekeeper said they usually have extra items available. Good to know you can request items.

I bought a small set of 3 sharp knives to keep in our Owners Locker as we only use studios. I also keep a pair of scissors & some plastic bowls in it for the microwave (like Gladware type stuff).
