Anyone have any news on this? We really want to buy as soon as it opens to purchase and would love to be the first ones to sleep there. We have been holding off buying a DVC until this one opens (we are contemporary people) and are so excited it has finally come (5 years since we heard the rumor of a contemporary DVC!)

Nothing official yet!!! We joined DVC last year and want to make our first add on at the Contemporary.

your gonna have some time to wait. I believe the expected opening is around fall of 2009.....but might not be until early 2010 for stays, based off the 2060 expiration date, you are figuring it will be late 2009 or early 2010.

Usually DVC is offered to members first with a slight discount than general public at regular price, with the size of the resort it will not sell out during the members sales, but depending on how many rooms they release at a time and demand from members, there could be a little delay for general public.

I figure an announcement will come later this year, maybe summer/fall.....than presales beginning early 2009....I don't think they will want to start selling it, if you won't have points for over a year, but maybe around the 11 month mark before opening would be a good time. Plus, it will leave more room and time to see how construction is progressing, this early in the construction process is hard to judge a true opening date and most projects this large are delayed somewhere along the line, especially with two hurricane seasons between now and opening. If a big storm hits anywhere in FLA it could delay this project as resources and materials are moved around.

But I am sure you will see more and more speculations on this until the doors finally open (and probably even after that!)

Well, DVC has to announce it first, lol! The poster above presents a good point. You can always buy now and then be among the first (members) to do an add on when it is available for sale. You can bet prices will rise quite a bit and expect points to be pretty hefty for stays at the new resort. My guess is opening sometime in 2010.

They better announce it soon....but to be quite honest, I got enough points and i guess i will take my chances with the seven month window...If I add on it will be a resale at OKW

I asked my guide about Kingdom tower a week ago and he has heard nothing yet but he did say this:

"When AKV went on sale, members were given a 30 day advance to purchase
points first. I can't think of another situation where this occurred."

There are two critical questions about KT:

1. How much are the points going to cost?

2. Will there be a gellato station there?

I am quite sure they will have pre-sales for members before it opens up to the public, just as they are doing for DL and as they did for AKV. I believe we also had a chance to buy SSR early too, but can't really recall for sure.

I doubt there would be anything available until 2010 given the 2060 ending date there.
