Don't think you're stupid at all.( prone to overreacting maybe and perhaps in need of a hobby). But a lot of theGosh, I didn't realize being a budget boarder makes me stupid. Oh, and a sucker too.
I don't see what the big deal is. When I buy a TV I know I am going to be bombarded with ads. I just ignore them. And I don't expect to get a tv for free because I'm subjected to ads. Same with
magazines.
Are you kidding?
You do know that if you turn off the wireless on your Kindle, you won't get the ads?

I really don't get why people are so bothered by screen saver ads. Who looks at the screen savers? If the ads were displayed when you turned pages and then you had to wait 30 secs to see the next page I could understand.
What am I missing?
You are too funny.Don't think you're stupid at all.( prone to overreacting maybe and perhaps in need of a hobby). But a lot of the
people on this board have crossed the line from frugal to cheap long ago.
No, I'm not kidding. I've had Kindles since they first came out so I know how tgey work, thanks.
I know it's hard for some on the budget board to understand, but some of us aren't out to pinch pennies at all costs. You're only saving $25 dollars- really not worth it. I get enough advertising in the rest of my life.
I think the whole thing is silly but it'll be interesting to see how many people get suckered into it.

Do you leave it in wi-fi/3g mode? If you change it to airplane mode it drains your battery much, much slower. I use my Nook daily and have it set to airplane mode and only have to charge it every 4 weeks. I only turn on wifi mode when I want to download books. HTH!
My co-worker has a 3G Nook and I have a Wifi only Kindle. Even with her 3G turned off she has to charge hers all the time compared to my Kindle. I don't leave the Wifi on all the time and I read about 30 minutes a day on average and I have only charged mine 2x since the initial charge at Christmas. She uses her Nook about the same and she charges hers every 2-3 weeks. I think part of it is the touch screen bar at the bottom on the nook.
Me too. I wonder how many people will act like this is a big deal?![]()

If one didn't open the Kindle cover until after the Kindle was turned on... one would never even see the ads, save for the small bar at the botton while you're browsing your library. Seems pretty unintrusive to me and if I were in the market for a Kindle without 3G I'd get it. Besides... any $20 coupon for $10 essentially gets you books at half the price of any other e-book retailer.
Sweet!
