Kim's new and improved life journal!

Look at you, Jen with the cute little Tink signature! :teeth:

So, DH and I went out last night to a concert in AC. Friends of ours were supposed to go with us (it was their idea) but they ended up not being able to go. So we went and had a great time. We first went to the Library (it's a restaurant) for dinner. It's one of my favorite places to go. Their salad bar is out of this world (and I got 1,000 island since it was a cheat meal ;)) and had prime rib with my 2 glasses of sangria. YUMMMMM!

Then we went over to Trump Marina and saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. It was standing room only (except for a few VIP booths) and it was great! We were about 3 people back from the stage. Great music, and there were some people dressed in their pimped out best (if you don't know - BBVD is swing music). It really was a lot of fun! We hung out for about 15 minutes after the show & the band came out to sign autographs. We got our friends' ticket signed and bought a poster & got that signed. Fun time!

I went running today to do my 20 minute straight run. I did a warm up walk for 1 minute in my driveway (walked back a forth a couple times :teeth: ) then set out to go around the block. I ran the whole time because I didn't want to check my watch & be thinking about the time. I ran the 2.2 miles in 22 minutes! I was so excited! I felt really good. I got a little winded about 1/2 way through, but then a good song came on and I concentrated on that more than my breathing and the next time I thought about it I was breathing pretty normally again. My left calf muscle hurt a little bit at the end, but I'm thinking that might have been because my calves were really tight after standing for 1.5 hours last night at the show.

I go back to intervals for my next 2 runs this week, then 25 mins straight on my 3rd run. Then only straight running until I build up to 30 minutes. :woohoo:

I really can't believe I made it all the way around the block today without walking...and I felt good doing it. It truly is amazing what can happen in a few short months. Thanks to you all for helping me along the way. I really appreciate each and every one of you!

:cool1: How fun to see Big VooDoo Daddy! I'm jealous...they are GREAT!!! Sounds like you guys had a rally fun night out :). How far are you from AC? I think I remember you are "down the shore" somewhere LOL. Gotta' love our Jersey Speak! ;)

And WOW...great job on your run girl! :moped: I'm going to start calling you Speedy Kim!!! Can you loan me some of that "fast"....'cause my runs have been a bit sluggish the last few weeks since the race.

I'm only 15-20 mins outside of AC. MUCH better than an hour to Philly for concerts!

You are running WAY further than me....so I'm sure you're speed will pick up again. I know that once I increase my distance my speed is gonna slow down. You're doing AWESOME!!!

Hi Kim,

Glad to hear you had a great time at the concert! :cool1:

You are doing such a great job with your running! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Have a wonderful Monday! :sunny:

Hi there Kim!!!

I have been meaning to get to your journal...I just have been MIA for a while. No excuse...but it is what it is I guess!!!

I have red through your whole journal...and WOW....You have done a great job!!! You can definitley see it....all your hard work, it paid off. You looked absolutly gorgeous.

Good news that your grandma made out of surgery and all is well with her foot. Here's some :wizard: that she gets back to eating....35 pounds is a lot for a short amount of time.

I read a few pages back that you were having issues with you ipod....sorry if this has been taken care of, I didn't see anything else about it,but you can set up playlists that have the music that you want when you are working out. I have an ipod as well that I listen to while working out and while I am on the bike...I know that's bad. But I have a playlist that is upbeat, fast paced music for working out....like I have the Temptations, Shania Twain, Lou Vega, Hilary Duff...and then I have a playlist for when I am riding the motorcycle. I love it...that way I don't have to listen to the slow stuff while I am working out. It is very simple to set up as well....If you have the true Ipod you can do it through Itunes...it works great! I still have all the songs on the unit.

Thanks for the support and the kind words in my journal.... :)

Keep up the great work....you truly are doing an awesome job!!!

Happy Monday :)

Kim - Way to go with the run!!! Amazing what happens when our minds are diverted from "ugh...running stinks" to "wow...this is a cool song" :) I bet BBVD was fun!! I saw them once as part of a festival and they put on a great live show. Keep up the great work!! 11 minute miles are something to be proud of!!

hi Kimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

im just stopping by real quick..gotta go finish my final, but ill talk to you later...AI tomorrow?

Tracy - thanks for stopping by and giving me your wonderful encouragement!

Jamie - thanks for reading! (that was a lot of reading!!) And thank you for your kind words. It wasn't easy getting to this point, and it's still a struggle. I see food and think...well I look good now and I reached my goal...so maybe just a little. But that "just a little" is what got me to that place to start with. So it'll always be a battle. As long as I keep exercising, then I can allow some treats here & there. I don't have an actual ipod, just an MP3 player. It's very basic and I can't create any groups with it. DH is getting an ipod from his loving wife for his bday (can you see the hidden agenda I have here? :rolleyes1 ) And I'm sure I'll set up a group of my own on his!! But for now I just deleted the slow songs. I am getting a little tired of the same songs (I think I have 80 or so on there, but it seems to play the same ones over & over). Thanks again for your encouragement and for stopping by! :wave2:

Scott - as always...an awesome source of encouragement. Thank you so much! I am really happy with the 11 minute miles...and I'm not counting on that speed to continue as my distance increases! :teeth:

Jen - I'm so glad you're back!! :yay: Thanks for the quick drive-by.

Hi there,

Just wanted to stop in and say hi!!! Hope you are having a good day!

Keep it up!!!

Happy Tuesday :)

hey buddy!
Im talking to you but i had to say hi on here anyways..gotta get my post count up here...
Enjoy your run tomorrow morning and ill talk to u tomorrow
Be excited, ill see u soon!

Morning all!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! It just never gets old! I get so excited when I see posts! :teeth:

I ran this morning, but it didn't feel great. I was thinking as I started that since the plan called for 24 minute walk/run intervals and I have been making it around the block in around 22 minutes - that I'd have to run a little past my house at the end. But I didn't. I made it to my house right at the 24 minutes. So it was a slow one, but I did it. I felt sluggish (couldn't have been the wine last night :sad2: ). Here's what my intervals were (I was able to stick to the plan):

r5/w3/r8/w3/r5

Hopefully Friday's run will feel better. I'm scheduled for r10/w3/r10 (my last interval day!).

Hope you all are having a good week. It's HUMP day! :yay:

Hi Kim,

You did great on your run!!!! Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling top notch....

Keep up the good work. You are doing a great job!!!

Happy Wednesday :)

Kim - good run even though you felt sluggish!! Can't feel great every time...most important thing is you got the steps in and will benefit from it! 10/3/10 is an impressive interval...I know you'll do great!

:cheer2: Great job Kim~sometimes it says more that you push on even when you're not feeling in top form. I think that shows how committed you are to running! And your time was really good regardless!

I bet your next run will be excellent....I usually find that I have a really good one after I have a tough one. Not sure why it works that way but I'll be you'll see. :confused3

GOOD LUCK with the new intervals!

Wow! Wow! Wow!

That goes for the pictures, the running, and the progress you've made!

I can't believe how great you are doing!

Hope you feel better and have a good rest of the week!
