Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. Do you have any special plans for dinner or something this evening?

Thanks! We're going out to dinner (not sure where yet) and going to buy a new lawnmower. If that doesn't say romance, I don't know what does! :rotfl2:

You are going to be SOOO ready for that race in August! Maybe you should try to find another one sooner b/c truly you are ready to run the distance today!

Amy, you are so sweet. I am actually going to run a 4 miler in July (just added it to my signature today). I was pretty unsure about it until maybe a week or so ago, and I figured, why not?!?!

Thanks again, guys!

Hi guys!! Thanks for stopping by!

Just when you think you're in the groove, and have a schedule set up.....

BOOM!!!!

Yesterday, early am (around 1am) I woke up with chest pains. Like debilitating chest pains. I was laying on my left side, and couldn't move a muscle or I got stabbing pains. I woke up DH (after about 1/2 thinking it might go away) and had him sit me up. The pain sort of fizzled, but then I had a lingering heaviness on my chest. I just didn't feel right.

I figured I was ok to get the kids to school, go to work & call the doctor. My doctor referred me to my cardiologist (I see one every few years as a precautionary measure, b/c of my dad's heart disease), and my cardiologist referred me to the ER.

I got to the ER right at 10am, and they took me in right away (chest pains are priority, you know). Long story short, my heart and lungs are perfect. They ran a series of tests, poked and prodded, and I came out with no diagnosis. They gave me a prescription for acid reflux, and told me to see my doctor early next week.

So, I am glad that everything is ok...but it was the scariest thing in the world. I always have my dad's heart issues in the back of my head, and so any twinge makes me worry. But this was full blown pain - and it just scared me so bad.

Needless to say, I'm going to take it easy this weekend. No running until I check in with my doctor. Maybe DH and I can take a long walk or something, but I'm not going out by myself for a run.

Thanks for listening, guys and I hope you have a GREAT holiday weekend!!

Jen - sorry I didn't get back to you with your AC answer! You probably looked it up online & figured it out (that's what I would have had to do too!)

Oh my goodness, Kim!

How are you feeling today sweetie? I'm glad to hear that the ER gave you a clean bill of health. Please be sure that you go and see your doctor too so that he/she can check things out as well.

I think it's a very good idea to take it easy this weekend. Just relax....

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Kim. Please let us know what the doctor says.

:grouphug: Oh wow Kim!! That is so terrifying! I am relieved to hear that it was not your heart or lungs, but definitely take things easy for a while! I hope you feel better today and enjoy your holiday weekend.

I had a similar experience a year ago March...ended up in the ER w/ chest pains. Turns out I had been running around w/ pneumonia for a while. So you just never know right :confused3 .

Take care and check back in with us!

Hey guys!

I'm glad to report that I am back to feeling good today. Yesterday was kind of off & on with the heaviness in my chest. But today was perfect, not a problem. I haven't gotten the prescription yet that the ER doctor gave me (sort of like Pepcid) because of some authorization my primary doctor has to give my insurance company...and can't because it's a holiday weekend. :sad2:

But I feel good, and we got a lot accomplished this weekend so far. We have our very first ever veggie garden (tomatoes only ;)) that we set up yesterday. And today I planted a bunch of flowers in our flower beds, and went to a bar-b-que at my parent's house. Tomorrow we're going to hang at a friend's house and probably grocery shop. Our lives are so exciting, huh? hahaha. I'll take boring after the day I had Friday :thumbsup2 .

Thanks Amy & Tracy for your well wishes. I will definitley be calling my doctor on Tuesday morning, and seeing what else we can do to figure this out. My dad seems to think maybe a hiatel hernia? He has one, and he thinks maybe that's what it is. (I'm sure I spelled that one wrong).

I'm off to do some internet research!

hey-
no worries bout the ac thing- we found it! (obviously!)
Im glad you are feeling better, but i think that you need to take it easy ...you were busy this weekend and you need your rest woman..
Dont make me have to worry about you :)

CALL THE DR tomorrow! dont you forget, ill remind you

Talk to you soon

Jeez Kim....I go away for a few days and you go and have a heart attack or something!!?? WTH!! :confused3 Do I have to come up there and kick your butt??!! You had better call the dr. back and make sure of everything!! I had a problem a few years ago....I was driving and all of a sudden I couldn't breath....pretty scarey...going 70 on the interstate at the time....I pulled over, called dh....I was totally paniced. I made it to a gas station and one of dh partners showed up w/in seconds (he's the police). Anyway, ambulance came, rushed me to er --(i don't remember much of it) ~ after 8 hrs they finally figured out i had chemical pneumonia. (stupid me, i mixed 4 different kinds of cleaners to spot clean my carpet...2 days before this happened!)
IT SUCKED!! very scarey!!
Next time, don't wait til the next morning....go right away!!

ok....i'm done lecturing. Have a great day, and thanks again for your kind words on my journal....I needed them.

love ya!
marie

ok, ok.....everybody off my back!!! :teeth:

I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow afternoon. We'll get this all straightened out. Don't you worry about me. Guess that means no running tomorrow morning either. This running once a week is killing me.

I'm sure I could run, since I feel fine...but I want to wait until I get the go-ahead from the doctor man. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys for being here for me (except Marie, who wants to kick my butt for some reason?? :rotfl: ). Just kidding, Marie...thanks for making me laugh!

Have a GREAT day!

Hi Kim

Please hold off on the exercise until you figure this out for sure! I just know that it will be something easy to resolve!!! :goodvibes BUT...until you meet with the regular doc take it easy, ok! :grouphug: And please keep us posted!

edited to add.....looks like we posted at the same time LOL! Sounds like you're playing it safe. You are doing so great with you running that I just know a few days off until this is resolved will not affect you at all!!!!!

Hey Kim,
Do you have any idea how inspiring your positive attitude is? :goodvibes It is like a breath of fresh air for me. I'm glad you're taking it easy until they can figure out what's going on. I remember when it was harder to not run that it was to run. Those days will drive you !

So, how far have you gotten with that cool running training plan? It looks like fun. I had seen it before and just never thought I could run for 3 straight miles so I dismissed it. I think it would be awesome to really RUN for any length of time. I think it would be great to try it with you!

im glad youre going to the dr--make me feel better! :)

You are doing great and not running wont kill ya, i promise!
hang in there and use this as an excuse to have mr hubby do a bunch of things around the house--or bring u to my house hahahahaha

Thank you SO much Dena....don't forget....YOU were one of my original inspirations....I won't ever forget that!! :lovestruc

The last run I did on the program was 28 minutes. Then I decided to try out the 5K route around my neighborhood & see how I did. I ran 17 minutes, walked 4, then ran the rest of the way (11 minutes). So I don't know that I'll follow the plan at the end. I may just keep doing that 5K course and get to the point of running it straight through...then increasing the distance again.

But definitely try it. Don't be afraid of the end....look at it week by week. You can absolutely, positively do it!! I was struggling the FIRST week!! You probably wouldn't even have to start with week 1. You have much better endurance than that. I'm here for you. No matter what. :yay: Feel free to PM me anytime!!!

Jen - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: that's pretty funny....DH doing more stuff around the house??? Wouldn't he have to be HOME to do that?? hahahahahaha

Amy - thanks again! I seemed to be following you around this morning!! :teeth:
