Kim's new and improved life journal!

Hi all!!!

Well, I went to see the doctor man today. Basically we're just gonna wait and see what happens. He feels that I am a healthy person, besides this one episode of whatever it was. So we'll see if it happens again. At that point, he'd probably send me to a GI doctor for an endoscopy to see what is going on. He is holding off on any meds, since I feel great (which I'm VERY happy about).

I also asked him about my hair loss. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it in my journal...but my hair is coming out BIG TIME!! Nancy, my nutritionist, thinks that is from the lack of fat in my diet. She advised me to have olive oil once a day...and to take a biotin vitamin supplement (good for hair/skin/nails). My doctor is going to run a series of blood tests to see if he can get any answers there...and is prepared to send me to a dermatologist if he can't determine a problem based on the blood test results.

Have I mentioned I just love my doctor man? Isn't he awesome?

So....back to running on Friday morning. I'm really looking forward to it, although I'm nervous too, since it's been over a week now since I've run.

Thanks for all of the support, guys. It's been a crazy week!

yay for doctor man! justbe careful running on friday--dont over do it! do i need to come and drive behind you to make sure you dont pass out....;)

hang in there-talk to u tomorrwo

Glad you're feeling better. Chest pain can be SCARY!!!

My DBro had similar episode, they finally determined it was chest wall muscles. I've had similar and it was panic attacks I didn't realize I was having which were hormonally triggered.

Hang in there!

Kim - hello!! Sorry for not posting in so long....anyway I'm really glad to hear that the chest problem was nothing serious and it certainly is awesome that you have a great doctor!! Funny that you said "running once a week is killing me"....I bet you never thought you'd say something like that when you started this process!!

Good luck with the run this morning and be sure to take care of yourself. have a great day!

:grouphug: Kim!!! So glad you saw the doc!!! I bet you'll have a great run on Friday!!!! Just be careful with the heat :sunny: . I bet your hair situation is definitely due to your body adjusting to the change in diet. Follow Nancy's advice :), I'm so sure that it will get resolved. She's so knowledgable!

Don't worry about that run....you're going to do super!!!! :cheer2:

the heat is Amy's fault by the way....just check her journal if you need more info :)

:rotfl: Amy, Scott, Julie and Jen (and all my other buddies)

Thanks so much for the posts. I can't tell you how relieved I am that things are ok. I'm going to go tomorrow to get my blood tests done...and go from there.

Scott - I know it's really weird that running only once a week bothers me. hahaha. Before I would jump up & down if I worked out once a week....like that was AWESOME!! :rotfl: I guess I have come far.

Amy - now I have to go check out your journal to find out about why you're bringin the heat!! :rotfl2:

Jen - I bought myself a little arm band that holds my cell phone...so I'll have it with me now. I should be ok without you following me...but it's nice to know I have that option! :teeth:

Thanks again, guys!

Hello Kim! Checking up on other journals and just thought I'd start with yours! It will help me with mine, and I know I will find inspiration!

Hope you have a very successful day!

I clicked on your journal and thought I was reading the most current page, but I was actually reading page 10 or so! So I'll be back later to catch up on what's actually going on with you NOW not forever ago. But I do have to tell you it was some good inspirational reading. You've done so well on your journey girl. :yay:

Hey girlie! I hope you are doing well....chest pain is scary....my DH was just in the ER not too long ago for that. They didn't find anything but I know the nerve wracking and scariness of it. Please be careful on the exercise front!!

Glad you are feeling better though and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Hi Kim,

I'm glad you're feeling better and that doctor man gave you the okay. :thumbsup2 How did your run go?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :sunny:

YEAH....it's the weekend!!! :sunny:  :sunny:

Unfortunately, I didn't go running yesterday. Just couldn't get my body up & moving in time.

But...fortunately, I DID go running this morning. My plan was to do the 3.2 mile course, but not stress about times. I just wanted to finish and not over-do it. I was definitely going at a slower pace for the first 1/2 of the block.

**sidenote - About 3 years ago, we moved a couple blocks from our old house. Into a quieter neighborhood. Our old house is on my 3.2 mile course :rotfl:

Back to this morning. I ran about 1/2 way around the course, which ironically is in front of my old house. I got there in about 17 minutes. At that point, I stopped for about 5 minutes and chatted with my old neighbor who was outside getting his newspaper. It was really good to see him, as our paths haven't crossed much in the past few years (time just flies, as we all know). I started running again for the next 10 minutes, then walked for 3, then finished the course running for the next 4.5 minutes. Not counting the 5 minute break, I was run/walking for 35.5 minutes. I was extremely happy with that, considering I took a week and a half break from running.

My plan for the week is:

Monday - either go run the short block (2.2 miles) or hop on the eliptical for 30 minutes
Wed - run 3.2 miles
Fri - run 3.2 miles
Sun - longer run, hopefully 4 miles

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!

:cool1: GREAT run Kim! Wow, you really did a super job!!! I just knew you'd be fine, even with that break from running.

Your schedule looks good. How exciting to be trying a new distance :). For some reason, that always makes me HAPPY :teeth: .

And most of all I'm glad you are feeling better :grouphug: . I was worried about you girl! But it sounds like you are fully recovered!!!!
