I'm wondering if the Kilimanjaro Safari is appropriate for a 2 1/2 year old. I've read that it can be a little rough, but I don't think that would bother him. Just wanted some input from folks who have taken younger kiddos on this ride.

Thanks!

I say go for it. That is our situation when we go. The ride is not really that bumpy. Maybe when you go over the bridge. But your child should love the animals.

Yes, it is a little rough but most small (and big) kids seem to really enjoy seeing all the animals. You should be fine.

The rules of the trip are that little kids, not in the arms of their parents, must sit in the seats toward the inside of vehicles with adults flanking them on each side.

The tendency, then, is for the kids to want to stand up to get a better look at the animals, which is contrary to the safety rules, as well.

There are times when the vehicles move so fast and shake so violently that anyone standing could be caused to fall to the floor of the vehicle.

This motion could also cause guests to lose hold of their cameras, if they don't take extra care to hang on tightly to them.

If anyone has not experienced the full jolting of the ride, they have been lucky.

As a veteran of dozens of trips, I can tell you that it can get extremely rough, depending on who is driving and which section of the attraction is being traveled.

But, it is a great attraction for nearly all ages, very well done.
Just be aware that everyone needs to sit tight and be able to grab a hand-hold when needed.

Our DD was almost 3 when we went and she really enjoyed it. Just hang on to him if it gets bumpy!

My daughter was 2 and 1/2 last year when we took her. It was fine. We went really early in the morning. The only problem was the sun hitting her right in her face. She didnt mind the bumping at all, she moreso liked it. Just careful not to have the baby near the edge.

Definitely go for it! My older daughter went on it at 13 months, 2 1/2 and 4 and LOVED it! We do follow the instructions and seat our little ones on the inside and hold on to them, but they've never been scared.

Have fun!

We have been on it with my DD when she was 22, 24 and 34 months. All times we just put her in between us and she was fine.

For the smoothest ride, sit close to the front of the vehicle. Do not sit just in front of, on top of, or behind the rear axle. Remember how bouncy the school bus ride was when you sat all the way in the back! A CM should be able to accomodate your request. Enjoy!

The bumps can be a distraction, but I would not think it would bother anyone of any age, i have seen every age on there even infants.

:( I just looked up the safari and I can't ride it because I'm expecting. I was looking forward to it. I didnt realize it was really bumpy to that extreme.

We went on it when DS was just over 2 and thought it was great. Maybe we had a slow driver because I don't even remember it being very bumpy. It is on our must do list when we return in March.

Here is a picture as we were about start the ride. Note DS was in the middle of the bench seat.

That is the case.

Everything depends on which CM is driving and the luck
of timing of how the animals walk/stand on/near the driving pathways.

Sometimes there is a great deal of space to "fill" if there is a delay
on your vehicle, or the one or two ahead of yours.

Each and every trip thru the Safari can be a totally different experience.

We have ridden it up to 4 times in one day, multiple days per trip, and dozens of times over many trips.

you probably would kick yourself if you didn't take your kid on the ride it is great for all ages.:thumbsup2
