My daughter will be 3 in October. We will be going to WDW in January. Can I say she is only 2? She is a very picky eater and gets motion sickness so she won't be going on many rides.
It seems a shame to pay the same price as her sister who is 8.

Since you are a new poster, you may not have read these boards much before. But this question doesn't usually go over too well. You will not find much support for choosing to lie about your child's age. You are going to do what you have to do, but just thought I'd warn you. This thread is pretty likely to get heated. popcorn::

Sure. Disney doesn't care if you lie to them, and steal in the process.

popcorn:: It's always so interesting to see this as a first or second post. I'm sure you could do a search to find the answer to your question - it's been asked quite a few times by people with few posts or people who change user IDs to ask this question.

My DD5 is a very picky eater and doesn't like to ride dark or fast rides. Should I say she is 2 since she won't eat as much as her sister who is 9? Maybe my 9 year old should get a price break since she can't play on some of the little kid playgrounds and doesn't get excited when she sees a princess. Disney doesn't charge by the number of rides ridden or how large an appetite someone has. If you want to pay by the ride, I suggest you try your local county fair.

You could always schedule your trip BEFORE her birthday - then she actually would be two! Or you could call Disney and see if they mind if you lie and cheat them out of the cost of a ticket. Maybe they will view you differently than the thousands of other parents who try to scheme their way in for free.

Funny how people never ask if it is OK to shoplift $200 or more in Disney merchandise from the World of Disney Store. It is the same thing. Does that seem right to you? :confused3

Nope, not alright! BUT, if you were to schedule your trip so the first day's stay at Disney is the day before her birthday, then Disney would consider her 2 for the entire stay.

No one will know if you lie or don't- so why do you even ask the question?? It's something you need to decide for yourself. Disney isn't going to know if you say she's only 2. But you will.
You just need to decide what you think. Is it okay for your kids to know you lied? How do you explain that to them.
I have been known to fudge a little here and there for age requirements- but only if my DD wouldn't find out. There's no way to avoid them hearing you say she's only 2 every time you go in a park gate or order at a restaurant.
Now I suggest you take these opinions and close this thread before people get stupidly upset.

Can I say she is only 2?

Of course you can, it is entirely possible for you to say the words "She's 2".

Should you do so, is the question, and only you can answer that for yourself.

I would not personally lie about it. That's against my personal values.

I would say NO! It is an honesty thing for me. But we did take my 2 year old twins the week of their 3rd birthday. We asked at the gate, they told us that since that week they were still 2, then they were 2 for the whole trip. Now with that said, the last day we were there, we actually had someone question whether they were 2 or not!! One of the ticket ladies, looked at the kids in the stroller and was like "Their TWO!" Um, according to your ticket sellers, yes! Kinda ticked me off to be questioned about it, since one of the twins is really small, and the other is pretty tall for his age. So who knows. You have to live with the choice you make!

its a personal decision. will you be handcuffed and taken away...no. but if the cast mamber at check in asks your daughter(and they always do) how old she is, will you be instructing your daughter to lie? how does that make you feel as a parent?

honestly i did it. kinda. we booked a trip for the week before my son turned 3 which was aug 21st. we planned to arrive the 18th and leave the 24th. well that was until we heard about free dining. so we called the travel agent and had her switch our dates to the 25th-31st. we never thought about the fact that liam was turning 3 the 21st and the TA never said anything. it wasnt until 2 weeks before that i realized he was now 3. did i say anything at check in, no. should i have? i dont know, probably. but i never asked him to lie. instead we still had his birthday dinner and he turned 3 down there. he had no idea he was 3 before that.
i dont think i could have asked him to lie. what i did was probably no better than lying, but we did it anyway. so you have to decide it you want to do it anyway.

LOL, so you lied to Disney and your son...that makes it ok...

okay i have a question kind of on the topic, but not really. the last 2 times we stayed at a WDW resort on our resort print out it put the age (2) next to my daugther's name (she isn't two until the middle of oct.)....the CM must have taken down her age on the phone when they asked if we wanted to buy tickets for something and i said "no thanks, maybe next time, she's not even 2 yet" anyhow i figured i didn't need to say anything b/c they don't charge for 2 year olds. SO, my question is should i change her age with them? i'd hate for summer time to roll around next year and they have in her records that she "should" be 3 when she's not and be charged or have a discrepency with disney. do they keep track in their records like that?

The large majority of the rides at Disney are not what you would call thrill rides, so I wouldn't worry too much about your daughter getting motion sick. Disney is so much more than the rides anway. It is parades, characters, and just the whole atmosphere.

Anyway, Disney states that children ages 3 and over need park passes. So there is your answer.

Usually, they ask me how old my children will be at time of travel? Maybe he thought you were saying "she's not even 2 yet" but that she will be before travel? I dunno LOL Maybe call just to verify? LOL or take a copy of her birth certificate just in case..

And you actually think that is OK since your DD didn't find out? :confused3 I love how all the supporters call it "fudging". Do "lying" and "stealing" offend your delicate sensibilities? :rolleyes1

I must agree that the thread probably should be closed, lest the OP think all the DISers advocate lying, cheating and stealing. It is, after all, against the policy of the DIS to encourage, support or inform ways to break the rules.

yeah i think i will do that when we go.. i don't want there to be confusion in the future and for WDW to think i'm pulling a "fast one" on them
