I keep seeing references to a "Kids sail free" promotion. Is this a Disboard urban legend, or does it actually happen?? Does DCL advertise this promotion, or do you have to just stumble onto it on their web site as with GTY rates? Has it been offered on the Dream yet?

I think the Mexican Riviera cruises that are going on now had the Kids sail free deal.
Our Western on the Magic in 2010 was a kids sail free.

Not sure that they have a time frame or pattern they follow for these deals or not.

Definately not an urban legend. Kids Sail Free Offers are usually done when a cruise isn't selling well. They had a whole bunch of them for the MR cruises this past fall. If you keep reading here, someone will announce if a KSFO is being done. Don't know for sure if the Dream has had any yet.

:cutie:

Well, I can confirm two...Mexican Riviera 2011 (March), Mediterannean 10 day cruise (2010)...and others I did not take

MR 2012
Alaskan Cruise 2011

Hoping for 2011 September :) EC :)

The MR promotion ran from the Jan 18 cruise to the March 4. They started it in Sept last year, which is when we jumped on it!

This board knew about it before it was ever publicized. I think the people who have good Disney TA's emailed them and saved them some money. Then it gets out like wildfire here.

MR thru early March 2012 was the last time. It was also available on the Alaska cruises on certain dates, as well as some of the 2011 Med cruises.

It shows up when bookings are slow. There is no way to predict when or where. It has been on "normal" Bahamas and Caribbean cruises too.

We took advantage of it in March 2009 and April 2010 on the Wonder when it was in FL. Since the Dream has come along we have not seen this or the FL Resident discount for 3 & 4 night cruises. I'm still "Dreaming" they they will do this again.

My family got Kids Sail Free last February on a 7 night Eastern on the Magic. We were already booked and had been for a few months. We knew we were paying a lot for this vacation but we were ok with it. There are 5 of us and we had a 4B verandah.

I saw on here something about it one morning, emailed my TA and she responded she had already switched our reservation and was waiting for confirmation from Disney. The promotion was ONLY for verandah rooms for 7 night cruises on certain dates January-late March I think and didn't include presidents day week. Our total cost dropped $2,400!

I remember reading here that others on our cruise and others like it didn't even take advantage because rebooking with KSF in a verandah was still more expensive then the cabin they already had.

But like the other person said, there is no logic. They come when they are needing to fill the ships. No science to it.

Yep, it started on the wonder when it was announced for last winter and then within a few weeks it was added for the magic. We did the MR on the Wonder last winter. Going again next Jan on the Dream, but no KSF promo this time, unfortunately!

When I saw that Kids Sail Free in your thread title my heart dropped. We just cruised MR 1/29/12 with KSF. Now I am on the look out for any last minute KSF deals for any MR cruises. You never know.

I received a post card indicating the KSF promo in November, 2011 before Thanksgiving. It took me 4 hours of refreshing late one evening to get a cabin (yes, a verandah). Then, thankfully, we were upgraded when cabins were announced.

I'm still hoping for another KSF! I hope if any DISers get word of a one, they come here ASAP to post! :grouphug:

We used the KSF promo for our ALaskan Cruise May 2011. It came out at the end of January. I booked right away.
