My son will be turning 10 two weeks before our trip. He is not a picky eater just not a BIG eater. Since I know that the Disney portions are HUGE, will they allow him to order off of the kids menu's?? or should I encourage him to get an appetizer as a meal??

I plan to convince him to share something with me as much as possible to give him a bit of variety but we may not both be in the mood for the same thing...

I remember when I was younger my parents told me to lie about my age, because they wouldn't have let me order off the kid's menu, if he doesn't eat that much I would say order off the kids menu or share with you. There isn't much on the appetizer menu at most restraunts worth eating for meal. So I would say share or lie about his age.

Thanks for the advice. I kinda figured they would be sticklers...and lying will be tough since he will be so proud of finally being in "double digits"; not to mention he is as tall as most 13yr olds...LOL

I know at a the majority of the restaurants we've been to, the server has offered it to me (I'm 23) or even my mom. Neither one of us are big eaters, so we order kid's meals a lot. It started when someone cleared my plate and notice I only ate about 1/2 of the meal, she suggested that next time I get the kid's portion...so now we do! Just ask and they'll most likely accommodate you!

Disney will let anyone at any age order off the kid's menu.

Even my DH ordered off the kid's menu at PSB lunch because he didn't like the adult menu.

Anyone can order off the children's menu. The only exception is at buffets or AYCE meals where anyone ten and older is charged the adult price.

Im 18 and I order off the kids menu all the time. I dont like to eat alot and then walk around in the heat for the rest of the day.

That is interesting to hear. When we were at LTT a few weeks ago we asked the hostess for a children's menu for DD 10. (Who is tiny btw and often mistaken for 8.) She said that was up to the discretion of the waiter and we would have to ask him. We were not on the dining plan or anything. I had already decided she and I would just split something if he didn't let her before he came to the table. He did say it was okay but acted like he was doing us a favor. (Of course, overall that meal was the worst service we have ever had at Disney.)

Kids in my family order off the kid's menu until they're like...14. And most of the people at Disney are so nice they've let me (18) order off it too. You do want to watch out, though, b/c there are some cast members lacking in the "disney spirit" who won't want to let you. At San Angel Inn, the waittress wanted to charge the 11-year-old in our party double for the kids meal. If your little boy just turned 10, you might want to make a mistake in giving his age, just to make sure you get the kids meal.;)

I know how little kids like to give their age accurately though. When I was 5, we went to this buffet where you got in free if you were 4 or under. I tell the waiter proudly that I'm five. He looks at my mom and dad and says, "No, you're four." lol. :D
