(My understanding is that when you contact Special Diets that no one is getting specific information anymore, instead you are told to speak with the chef at the meal. I would hate to make an ADR and then show up and find out all he can have is a bunless hotdog and a fruit salad (minus blueberries. It would ruin our meal and we'd be left scrambling to find another TS as a standby with a large party. No fun.)

Anyone had a child with dairy, soy, blueberries and egg allergies order a kid's meal at Kona?

Xander won't eat salad (it's a texture thing, he gags if we can get it to cross his lips-- food has been an issue for a long time with gastro issues as well.)

Anyone know if the noodles in the chicken noodle soup are safe?

What about the hot dog bun? (milk? egg?)

Is the hamburger really soy?

Anyone done substitutions?

(Last time we went to Disney he wasn't old enough for the dining plan... )

This is one of our (DH and I) favorite restaurants so we really want to try to make it work.

The chefs at Kona will make something safe for him that he will like. I promise. The chef will come out to your table to discuss your options and will prepare something for him that he'll like.

The hot dog buns at WDW will not be safe, the regular or the allergy ones. Sorry.

They do carry the allergy chicken tenders at Kona. The fries have a small amount of soy unfortunately but they do have the chicken. They can probably give you some white rice (they make a lot because of the sushi bar) or else noodles. They'll figure out something he'll like limitted only by the ingredients they have on hand.

I don't know about the chicken noodle soup. My 11 yo loves the chicken noodle soup at Poly but she can eat soy and eggs; she's off milk and blueberries so I know it's safe on that front (not that you were wondering about the blueberries LOL). I don't know if the noodles are egg noodles or regular noodles.

If you email Special Diets with these kinds of specific questions, they'll have a chef respond to those questions. You may have to resend the email a few times to get them to catch on to the fact that you've asked very specific questions which need to go to chefs but eventually they will.
