Thanks for the compliments everyone! This is the Layered Tulle Twirl Skirt Pattern from YCMT minus the ruffles. It took me about 4 hours to actually sew it but it took several days to understand the ebook and the measurents. That was all new to me. I've been sewing off and on for years but only with store bought patterns. Boutique clothing is much more fun.

Tink, trust me, you can do this! :thumbsup2

Oh and the tank was made by Cree of Bowznstuff. The mickey head is some kind of textured fabric. Very Cute!

Ok, I have the patchwork skirt downpat, I think... we'll see when it's actually finished. But I have a question for strip skirts. Do I cut the strips one width all the way down, or do they taper? I'm thinking they only look tapered because they are gathered at the top, but I wasn't sure. BTW, I'm doing this without a pattern :sad2: , so I need all the advice & pixie dust pixiedust: I can get!

Also, there are some already decorated bottlecaps in the scrapbook section. I think that they come in 3 different varieties (Pooh, Princesses & Mickey).

They are $3.99 for a pack of 8 at Joanns, I bought some today! I've been scared to try to make my own, but everyone tells me they are easy to do!

Okay, don't laugh!

Here is my knock-off of the tutu twirl skirt. Not sure where DD will wear this but I had alot of fun making it. There are a couple things I will do different next time but for the most part, it came out pretty good. I was too chicken to make the tulle shorter than the underskirt. Once I get my rotary cutter and mat, I will try another one.

OMG- that is ADORABLE. I would love to be able to make that (only sewing was in college and it was not easy!) You did an amazing job. :thumbsup2

I put a center seam in the back on mine. Having said that, I didn't like the pillowcase dress much on my DD (she's really thin) so after the first one I made, I put a waistband in them. The pillowcase dress does look adorable on my DN though :)

Thanks for the well wishes for my mom. She had a knee replacement last week and is now in rehab for a few weeks. She's scheduled to come home while we are away.

Castlecreations: I used that same Dora fabric and the pink sparkle to make a 'fiesta' Dora dress for DD and DN for our day at Universal. I made the dress out of the dora fabric and then a ruffle out of the pink sparkle, which i had left from another dress I had made DD.

Carrie

I'd love to see it, will you post a picture of the outfit?

I meant to ask, did you attach your applique w/ an embroidery machine or did you use a satin stitch? Any tips for those nice clean lines around the Mickey ears?

I couldn't laugh if I wanted to. I'm too busy going, "Wow! Wow! WOW!!!" I think it is fabulous. In fact, I like it more than the picture on the pattern cover. Nice job.

I can't take any credit for the tank. I only made the skirt. I found the tank on ebay from Bowznstuff. However, since I've purchased the clear embroidery pressor foot for my machine, appliques have become much easier.

Hi ladies,
I have been following this thread since May and I don't think I have posted before. I feel like I know some of you from reading on here, weird? :confused3
Anyway, I made 3 pillowcase dresses this week. 2 Little Mermaid and 1 Buzz Lightyear. And I am making 2 more using this really cool vintage looking baseball fabric for my girls to wear to DS's t-ball games.

I am wanting to attempt the bottle cap jewelry. What do you use to attach the bottle cap to the necklace?

Thanks for all the wonderful posts of ideas and cute stuff! :hippie:

What's everyone's beef with Dora? :confused3 :rotfl:

Umm, OK backpack, backpack, backpack, yea! See, it is in your head now, right!!? :lmao:

Oh I would never laugh!!! I love it! I wish I had the nerve to do it! I want to do one with red white and blue tulle, under a blue with white stars material for fourth of July, and I just can't make myself start! I really love yours. Fantastic job!!

OOOO- that sounds really cute! I would love to see pictures of that. I really think my DD would think she is too old to wear something like that. She's never been super girly girly.
