Thanks for all of the compliments. It is definately not my best work. I only had a day, because her party is this weekend, and I have exams all week. I would have loved to spend more time on it. I don't care for Dora, but there are others I don't like either, like the Doodlebobs...(ooooh, I shudder at their name ) LOL.
I wish there were more hours in the day, so I can sew.
Lisa

Where is the love for Dora? I love her, but DS is too old for her and DD isn't old enough yet.

Lisa, the dress is adorable! We may be going to Universal and WDW over Thanksgiving so I'm already searching for cute ideas for DD. Dora and the Dr. Seuss characters are top on my list.

Question for all those making pillowcase dresses....do you put a center back seam on yours, or are you just doing the 2 side seams?

Thanks!

I only put one seam on mine, but it was at the side. (Left side had one, right side did not.) I don't know why you couldn't put it in the back though. I might do that next time... but, on the side it's not very noticeable.

CastleCreations, the Dora outfit is too stinkin' cute! I bet that little girl will love it!

I've made 3. The first 2 I did the side seam (on one side only). The last one I did the seam in the back.

Stef -- After you cut your strips, sew them together lengthwise. Then cut your squares. You will already have three squares sewn together and your sewing time will be much shorter. If you already know this, please forgive me. It's one of those hints I picked up from watching the TV quilting shows.

that is an EXCELLENT tip! thank you!!

Hi everyone. Here is my latest. I promised a friend that I would make a Dora birthday outfit for her neice. You wouldn't believe how small this little girl is. I had to squeeze it on my little plastic model. I think she's around a size 2.
I only had one day to work on it, or it would have been more detailed. The back of the halter is the pink sparkle and it's shirred. Sorry the skirt looks crumpled, I guess it's the way I pulled it on the model. It's just strips of pink, and purple sparkle, and a cute Dora print.

I agree! I love the outfit even though I don't like Dora. Too cute!!

I can't believe you made that in a day. I couldn't make it in 50 years! :lmao:

What's everyone's beef with Dora? :confused3 :rotfl:

I like whatever makes my kids happy, because then I'm happy. ;) After a while though, any of the characters can grate on your last nerve.

I had to live through the Barney years with DS-now that DID get on my nerves after a while. Then DD went through the Teletubby and Bananas in Pajamas thing. If I ever see another Banana in striped jammies I will run screaming! :rotfl: DN is stuck on Elmo-yes, I'm hanging my head in shame now since his buddy is not Disney. :( I have to work on my Disney pushing skills.

I put a center seam in the back on mine. Having said that, I didn't like the pillowcase dress much on my DD (she's really thin) so after the first one I made, I put a waistband in them. The pillowcase dress does look adorable on my DN though :)

Thanks for the well wishes for my mom. She had a knee replacement last week and is now in rehab for a few weeks. She's scheduled to come home while we are away.

Castlecreations: I used that same Dora fabric and the pink sparkle to make a 'fiesta' Dora dress for DD and DN for our day at Universal. I made the dress out of the dora fabric and then a ruffle out of the pink sparkle, which i had left from another dress I had made DD.

Ok~Silly question here: Do you all paint those bottle caps or are they already decorated when you purchase them? Where do you get them? THANKS!!!

~Kim~

What I do is get bottlecaps and then cut put stickers or pictures of the character I want in the size of the top then use modpodge or clear elmers glue for it to stay and not come off!!

Lori

Also, there are some already decorated bottlecaps in the scrapbook section. I think that they come in 3 different varieties (Pooh, Princesses & Mickey).

Okay, don't laugh!

Here is my knock-off of the tutu twirl skirt. Not sure where DD will wear this but I had alot of fun making it. There are a couple things I will do different next time but for the most part, it came out pretty good. I was too chicken to make the tulle shorter than the underskirt. Once I get my rotary cutter and mat, I will try another one.

What do you mean don't laugh? It's fantastic!! How long did it take you to make it? Is that the youcanmakethis pattern?

Speaking of...can someone link me to that swap thread? I thought I had subscribed but I guess I didn't.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You did a great job. What pattern did you use?
