I tried to e-mail you the Disney autograph book. Let me know if it came through okay.

If it works, I will send it onto others if they PM me their e-mail addresses. Please know that this is NOT something I created however! It came from someone else on the DIS boards. It is amazing!!!!

I sent you a pm and would LOVE a copy if you can get it to send. Thanks so much!

Hi, I sent you a PM...It's fantastic!!!!! I can't wait to go to Disney now!!!

I own a rotary cutter but must not have the right stuff to go with it...I have a huge 6.5x24 9 inch clear ruler, and a cutting mat, but it seems like I mess up more fabric with that darned rotary cutter than I would like to admit...plus those bad boys are super sharp....:scared:

Dena...what messes up? Is it that you don't get a straight line? Or it doesn't cut through the layers? I've been using rotary cutters for a dozen or more years, since they first came out (before kids I was big time quilter), so let me know what the problem is and I may have some hints for you. It does take a few times of practice to get the feel for it, but after that you should be fine....pratice on scrap material. I use the rotary for everything possible, including things that aren't a straight line, lol.

Hi everyone. Here is my latest. I promised a friend that I would make a Dora birthday outfit for her neice. You wouldn't believe how small this little girl is. I had to squeeze it on my little plastic model. I think she's around a size 2.
I only had one day to work on it, or it would have been more detailed. The back of the halter is the pink sparkle and it's shirred. Sorry the skirt looks crumpled, I guess it's the way I pulled it on the model. It's just strips of pink, and purple sparkle, and a cute Dora print.

All the outfits are adorable. Great work everyone. OK...now that I buttered you up with compliments....:rolleyes1

I have a quick easy question for the bow-makers. I know it was discussed a few pages back (good lord knows where :goodvibes ) about sealing the edges of ribbon. Someone mentioned they use a lighter to seal the ends. Another heatsealing????? OK, I tried the lighter and I hope I did it right. Here is what I did, please tell me if there is another step to it or not.

I just sort of ran the edge of the ribbon real quick like thru the flame, just enuf to melt the edge about less then a Millimeter in (less then that actually-I just dont know what is less then a mm. ;) ) I felt it and it made a sort of very fine hard edge. Did I do it right? :confused3 I dont think it will fray unless someone actually pulls and picks at it.

I tried to use the tip of my glue gun also, but I dont think it was hot enuf so I just smeared a fine line of glue on the back side of the ribbon. The fire (oooo fire..lol) was so much easier and quicker.

OK, I knew I said it would be a quick question but the monster is still asleep and peace reigns supreme.:lmao:

The edges will get a little hard, but not bulky hard when you've done the job properly. I've always used a woodburing tool (available at craft stores) to seal my ribbon. It cuts and seals the edges very nicely at the same time.

Sorry, can't help you with the bows but I had to second the comment on peace! I have 3 monsters in my house today so I shall cherish every quiet moment I have. I'm off to give the tutu twirl skirt a try. I will post a photo once I'm finished. :dance3:

I can't wait to see a picture of that tulle twirl skirt. I'll bet it's fabulous!!!

I don't like Dora either but this is very cute!! And, to only have one day to work on it - you are the woman!!!

Hi all. I just wanted to say that I've been reading this thread for about a month. You have all inspired me!! I went out and bought a sewing machine. I started making little outfits for my daughter (3 going on 4). Then I made matching ones for my niece (18 mos). I have now made 7 sets of outfits for our upcoming trip 6/26 - 7/2. Dd birthday is 6/27, we're having dinner at the castle.

I also have made 3 outfits for my daughter to just wear. I'm now trying hair bows :)

I haven't even taken any pictures of any of them yet, but I will. I don't know at this point if it will get done before the trip, as my mom is now in the hospital, but it will get done on the trip! I will figure out how to post them somehow when we get back.

Thank you all for the wonderful posts, pictures, ideas, inspiration. You have all given me a new hobby that I find relaxing and I am really enjoying!

Carrie

I hope that your mom is ok. Good for you getting started. So far,I bought 2 machines but I go for my first class to learn how to use them on Friday. I can't wait to see your pictures.:)

What's everyone's beef with Dora? :confused3 :rotfl:

DD loves Dora! I think she likes Diego even better! The other day, she woke up and found a little flashcard with a bird on it and asked "Mommy, is this a parrot or a macaw?". She's not even 3! WAY too many animal adventures!

The outfit is adorable, by the way!

That is SO cute. What great work....again!!

Question for all those making pillowcase dresses....do you put a center back seam on yours, or are you just doing the 2 side seams?

Thanks!

Lisa,

Your designing and sewing skills are incredible. It would have taken me a week just to do the applique, never mind the entire dress. And you did it in a day! What a great idea -- putting that small ruffle around the waist and do the front and back of the bodice in a different color.

Several pages back you gave me some tips on doing appliques, but I'll never be as good as you. I still don't know how you do the tiny areas like eyes and lips.

You must lie awake at night just thinking about all those great ideas that you have.
