Great pics! And, is is just me, or do Wendy and Wendy look like they could be sisters!?

Those of you that have your children in dance classes - are you allowed to stay in the class and watch, or are no parents allowed into the classroom? I just took my DD to her first class and was a little surprised to be told that parents don't stay in the classroom. Is this standard for dance classes?

I wondered about this too. One the one hand I can understand the teachers wanting the kids "full" attention, on the other hand I don't think I would take it well if some stranger told me I HAD to leave the room.

What about the makeup for recitals? Do you HAVE to makeup your child?

Cindee

The year before DD took dance, she was in a gymnastics class. We were allowed to stay fo that. Not one class went by where at least one child went running to their mom asking a question or saying "did you see me?!"

I completely understand why parents are not allowed in the dance classes! We have at least one class a month where we can come in at the end of class and see what they are learning. That's what we thought was happening on Monday. She surprised us with their costumes. Last year makeup was "mandatory". Brown or purple eyeshadow and red lipstick. The reason was that the lights wash out the performers. As startling as it was to see my sweet 4 yo with bright red lipstick on, it wasn't as noticable on stage! This year (new studio) it is optional. I'll still put some on her, just not so dark! It's part of the whole thing - she gets to have her hair done and a litttle makeup. Even a little sparkly lotion. It's fun or her!!

Kids just don't do as well with parents watching...my dd's studio has an observation week 2x year, and most of the time the kids are more interested in who's watching than the teacher. We can sit in the lobby and kind of eavesdrop if we'd like though. :)

As for makeup, that probably depends on the teacher, but know this...stage lighting totally washes out the dancers faces, they look like ghosts up there, a little blush and lipstick goes a long way.

I know I promised these pics days ago, but I couldn't get back online at my aunt's & it took forever to get them uploaded once I got home. Anyway, here they are.

DD4's Little Einsteins outfit. I'm going to have to get photopass pics of her with the Playhouse Disney characters. Mine are ALL blurry (so are my princess ones). gggrrrrr

If you have a Disney Vise, you HAVE to go to the Meet n Greet at Epcot. Just be sure you get there at least by the time it starts if not before 'cause that line is very very slow. The characters 'talked' to all of us & danced with dd & posed for all the pics we wanted. It was great!

I don't have good pics of the Pooh character shirts I made, but the characters loved them. DD4 was esctatic to meet Piglet (she sleeps with a stuffed Piglet & has since she was a baby).

We had a great trip. The weather was wonderful & the girls had soooooooo much fun. I was very sad to leave, but there's talk of going back in 2 years!

I love, love, love pics from the World. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much to all those who expressed well wishes for me. I'm still struggling with pain but I'm either getting more used to it or it's lessening. I'm still sewing and have very good motivation to get caught up by Friday - I'm going on a "girls only" weekend with some friends.

Here's one of the projects I completed last week. I have some Christmas sets in the works for this week as well as some twirl sets for 2 girls' upcoming Disney trip.

I am so far behind but had to comment on this one.

I totally LOVE this one!!!!! Love it love it!

Too bad I don't have any girls to wear it yet :)
Gorgeous just the same!!

So behind, so off to read to catch up. My husband has been in the hospital for 2 1/2 days this week. Totally unexpected. He is still so very weak and doc is not letting him go back to work for over a week.

Can't wait to see what else everyone has created! I just love seeing everything :)

Sorry to hear about your husband. Do they know what's wrong? I hope he's feeling better soon.

I love when the mailman knocks on my door! It means packages!! I won this on Sunday, it came TODAY!! You would not believe what I paid for this set! (I've spent more on bows!) I am so impresesed, it came in a garment bag (inside a box of course!) Anyway I love it and DD does too!

Kirsta's teacher doesn't let anyone watch. They have a "uniform" for ballet. Black leotards with pink tights. White taps (which are hard to find) with pink ballet shoes. Unless she has someone thinking of starting thier child in ballet, she might let them sit on a class. I wish Kirsta would get interested in Jazz. She tried it a few times, but she says it's too tiring. I guess so after a full day of school and an hour of ballet/tap. At the end of the year, they do a open house, where we can go in and watch a small performance to see how the kids are doing. Recitals are every other year. This is Kirsta's 4th year in ballet and she loves it. Recital year, I think she will do 2 performances. One in tap and one for ballet. Her first recital was this gorgious color peri. I didn' think I'd get her in it! She's so tall, it barely covered her you know what's. They all had to wear thier hair the same. But no make up requirements.

He had a complication from a routine procedure that only happens to 1 in every 400,000 people. He lost a lot of blood and is extrememly weak. His iron is very low.

Those are really, really cute! It's great what you can find sometimes!

Since I have not posted any pics in a while..........:goodvibes

This one is from SW in the Christmas overlay of Polar Express
morganandsanta.jpg

(and since I NEVER mention him.... "Boast" warning! The suit Santa is wearing was made from a drawing my dear sweetie did!!!!!! The Elves were his too but the only picture I got of the elve was a little scary LOL (The preformer not the outfit) If anyone went to SW for the Halloween thing- you probably saw A LOT of his work.

Cindee

We're going friday to see santa at seaworld - I figure with passes it's easier for me to take them there than the mall - how was the polar express???

What stuff did your sweetie do for halloween - we were there almost every weekend in October!

Cheerbop: I hope your husband is feeling better really soon!

2cutekidz: your outfit is so cute! Good shopping!

Well, I guess I am just not meant to finish anything today. I decided to go to WalMart for the net and saw sweatshirts so I got some of those to Disnify. I wanted to case that triangle tree that someone posted not long ago. I get home and iron everything on and find I have no yellow thread. I thought I had some! Then I cut out the net and start on my pettiskirt and the white thread runs out! Sheesh, I might as well go unload the dishwasher or fold laundry!

Megan took three years of dance at the Y and if you remember, her teacher bought whatever she could find on clearance for their recitals. She really wanted to keep the costs down. This was when she was three: she did the bunny hop for tap and goin' to the chapel for ballet (with my mom):

I was looking at fabric at Wal-Mart (I know everyone's shocked right?) & they have 3 new Hannah Montana fabrics. One cotton, one flannel & one satin (possibly flannel backed, I don't remember for sure). I thought I should share since I know some of you have girls that are really into Hannah.

Yep- not one piece of a disney princess anywhere!! Not even Tink!!! Apparently it has been a BIG seller lately- But I did buy some little einsteins, backyardigans (not disney I know, but the kids LOVE it), CARS, Nemo. But CARS & Nemo are for the fabric exchange :goodvibes-
GOODNIGHT!!!

Can I ask where you got it? Not that I need anymore fabric lol.

Those are adorable. I really love the mint fabric! So cute.

I'm only 300 pages back now  I'm loving all the Halloween stuff I missed out on the first time around!

I think I'm going to read new messages on this board once a day so I can comment on current stuff that's being shown as well as still go through all the older stuff.

In any case, I thought I'd share things I worked on in September.

First up is the apple picking dresses I made the girls. I found fabric one night at Joann's that had cute little bears and said "apple pickin' " how could I not pick it up? Daisy's dress I'm really pleased with, Tabitha's well, I'm thrilled with the applique as it was my first one, but overall I just think it looks like a night gown :confused3: Also, she chose the gingham to be the coordinating fabric and all I could think of was a picnic cloth.

5.jpg

Next are the tulle skirts. All in all I did Tabitha's 3 times before I got it right! I also swore I would never touch tulle again :headache: I made the spider web on her shirt with hotfix crystals from artbeads.com and silver metallic puffy paint. When the sun hit her shirt it was just dazzling. Daisy's shirt was bought at Target because it matched her skirt so perfectly I couldn't think of one reason not to spend the $4.00 on it.

DSC01490.jpg

Lastly, the Halloween costumes. Tabitha wanted to be a gypsy. I did use a Simplicity pattern for her top but the rest I just used math.

2.jpg
23.jpg

And Daisy I did not sew her dress since it was bought before I started sewing. But I did sew the pantaloons (Simplicity Raggedy Ann pattern) and she's looks so cute in this pose I can't resist sharing my baby :)

I'll get the more recent outfits up as soon as I take pictures. Thanks for looking.

I saw Hannah Montana flannel at JoAnns too. I resisted the strong urge to buy it!

I can't find either digital camera so I don't know if I'll get my customs posted before we leave. I'll try.

Still doing laundry and cleaning and still not packed. This hasn't been a good day, my DD has decided that she'll be tearing the house apart while I'm somewhere else picking up so it hasn't made for a very productive day. I've even told my DH (not so dear) to take the kid and I'll stay home where it's quiet and where I can actually get the apartment clean before it's torn apart.

I've got to go and find at least one of the two digital cameras and get some more packing done. I'll be back before we leave at 4:30 am.
