Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 5

Wow, that is a beautiful costume! When Megan took at the Y the teacher would pick the theme by what costumes were on clearance. She didn't want us to have to pay a killer amount for two costumes. You should see her sleeping beauty costume: I will tell you it looks more like your Belle one, except in pink!

Anyway, you guys miss me? I missed you! And I missed Heather's birthday and sweet story. I am always so exhausted when I visit my parents because I have to sleep in the same bed with Jacob the sleeping whirling dervish! I swear I didn't sleep but a couple of hours the whole time I was up there.

Loved all the new Christmas customs: I have got to get started on mine. Of course, now that I have time to make Megan's fleece Ariel jacket it is back up to the 80s here. And I am going to case that sweatshirt with the tree and Mickey buttons: so cute!

This is what I have been working on. There is a mother/son dance at the school Friday and the theme is 50s so I had to make a poodle skirt. Actually, it is a dachshund skirt. The pattern came with instructions for a pettiskirt: should I try it? It seems a little too flat and needs to be fluffed up. I am askeered though, the pattern did say easy, so how hard could it be (har har). I guess I'm taking a trip to JoAnn's tomorrow to get pettiskirt material.

I hope you all notice my JoJo pose! Jacob insisted I stand this way when he took the picture!

There is no picture of me twirling: I didn't want to scare you too much!

That's really cute! I can't wait to see the pettiskirt under it. You'll have to let us know how "easy" the pattern is!

Yay!!! I'm so excited. That was mine!!!! I'm so glad you liked it. I'm just giddy to have something that might (even in the slightest possibility) be case-worthy! LOL! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just hope when I finish it, you'll be able to tell it was CASEd. It might be a CAB instead! Sometimes I don't know what happens to my projects. They don't turn out like I picture them in my mind.

Are you kidding me? No one has posted in almost 4 hours? What, do you people have LIVES or something???

I wonder what the longest non-posting spell has been on this thread? 4 hours seems like a lot. Whenever I get on here, there's always pages and pages to read. It takes so long, I've added it to my "chore" list. That way, I HAVE to do it.:rotfl:

LOL! CASE is "Copy And Steal Everything" a.k.a. try to copy it.

I'm not sure about CAB. That's a new one to me, but I'm going to guess on "Copy And Botch" because that's what happens to my projects often, too. LOL!

Edited to say: Oops... we were posting at the same time.

LOL!! I was just thinking the same thing!!

Oh My Sweet Lord!! DD got her ballet recital costume today!! They are the sweetest, prettiest ever!! Now I know you are all thinking, come on...it's just a ballet costume! So I will include a picture of last year's costume. We are in a different studio this year and it is a world of difference...much more organized! Last year the girls danced to Beauty and the beast and Be My Guest for tap. The teacher didn't order the costumes early enough and her first choice was sold out so this is what we wound up with!! These pictures don't do it justice, it's a VERY bright canary yellow (one of the moms called it Big Bird Yellow!!) But the girls loved them and that's what matters...

Now here are this years!! We didn't know they were coming in. We didn't even know what the would look like. Still not sure what they are dancing to - recital isn't until April/May. The tutu is seperate for 2 different looks. Can you guess what princess she is?!

IMG_2612.jpg

IMG_2638.jpg

Her korkers even matched!! OK enough of my SHAMELESS posting, but I was sooo happy with the costume!! :cloud9:

Total Costume Envy!!!!! My dd's dance center always likes the little girls in traditional pink tutu type costumes. They were not nearly as cute as these!! We even had a Disney theme last year (ours was Bambi) and we didn't get a super cute Cinderella type outfit. I love the yellow. Super duper cute!

Thanks so much to all those who expressed well wishes for me. I'm still struggling with pain but I'm either getting more used to it or it's lessening. I'm still sewing and have very good motivation to get caught up by Friday - I'm going on a "girls only" weekend with some friends.

Here's one of the projects I completed last week. I have some Christmas sets in the works for this week as well as some twirl sets for 2 girls' upcoming Disney trip.

Lisa, so beautiful. I have still only appliqued like 3 projects. I need to practice and see if I can actually do something other than letters and mickey's head. Wait, maybe I should master the easy ones before I move on!

I don't check the thread for 2 days (busy making money on expotv.com) and I can get caught up in less than an hour? What's wrong with you people?!

I lost some of my multi-quotes when I had to restart my computer, but rest assured that I haven't seen anything I didn't like. So, I must have loved your outfit, even if I don't comment on it!

And I wanted to say I am very thankful for all of you- the encouragement and the ideas and cyberfriendship- What more could we ask for :goodvibes
Awww..I love the piggy tails and your DS is absolutely adorable!! I love this place, too!

Hi everyone  Long time no sew :)

I've been away from the board for two months because life kind of bogged me down. My car has gone through such extensive (meaning expensive) repairs that we had to change our vacation. We were going to stay at Poly, lagoon view, but in the end decided to go back to Pop Century. We were a tad disappointed, but since we're still going, it's kind of hard to stay sad.

Anyway, I've still been sewing and will share, but not until I'm caught up on the thread (I'm 400 pages behind :scared1: ).

I'm really feeling the crunch since we're four weeks from Christmas and less than 2 months from our trip. I think I can get everything done, but only time will tell. I haven't even started buying accessories yet though and really need to put my ebay shopping skills to good use :)

So thanks to everyone for continuing to share your creations, I've enjoyed trying to catch up and I'm glad to be back.

(Now who do I need to compliment to get a Christmas smiley for my sig?)
Great to see you back!!!

These are great pictures! It looks like you had a lot of fun!

I don't log onto this thread for a few days and what happens? I miss Heather's birthday! :sad1:

:bday: What a wonderful present you received from your grandmother. I know you'll cherish that cross forever.

Chantell
I will!! I'll forgive you for missing my birthday...this time. ;)

okay, I have used heatnbond to iron on things but they keep coming off at the edges after washing, what am I doing wrong?
I used Heat 'n Bond on one of Tessa's outfits and the stuff just came right off. It has to be sewn on, even if you're not planning on washing it!

Da da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I am officially at 100 posts to this board, I think we need a posting of the 100 plus club....
LOL
Sorry, the :cool2: club has now been upped to posters with 150 or more posts. :lmao:

Come over to my house, we have plenty of little toys lying around the house you could have! Hmm, I think Lydia might have left her Eye Spy bag at my Mom's yesterday.
Yup, you did. I was playing with it today! I love how you stitched "I spy with my little eye" all around it.

Well Ms. NO H Teresa puts two F's in my name EVERY time so we're even.;)
Touche! However, your username is not tifaniberi!

Your kids are just too cute!! I love DD's top! I also really enjoy keeping up with your baby's in-utero progress!

Yes, I missed you! I feel for you having to sleep in the same bed as a kid. Ugh! However, perhaps it was the thought of something else keeping you awake....:fish:
I love the skirt and the JoJo toe! I do so wish you would post a twirling picture!

Thanks so much to all those who expressed well wishes for me. I'm still struggling with pain but I'm either getting more used to it or it's lessening. I'm still sewing and have very good motivation to get caught up by Friday - I'm going on a "girls only" weekend with some friends.

Do you mind me asking why you're not feeling well? No need to answer if you don't want to, but I was afraid I missed you telling us. I really hope you get to feeling better for your girls weekend! Love the Cinderella outfit! You are so good at choosing fabrics!

Ohhhhh, I forgot to mention that I talked to the Mom whose daughter I made the turkey outfit for that M is wearing in my sig and she told me Thanksgiving was cancelled because her husband caught a stomach virus. Selfish me could only think of "she didn't even get to wear the outfit?" When I dropped off the outfit she was sick with the bug so I gave it to her husband. She never mentioned it or thanked me for it. Do you think I should casually bring it up? Or should I stop thinking about myself and just wait for her to say something?

WHAT!? No call to thank you profusely and exclaim over the gloriousness that is the Thanksgiving outfit? I'm totally serious, that's really rude! I would casually ask if her daughter liked it, or something.

Wow I absolutely love the new customs too  It looks so loverly! Here was my DD4's costume from their recital in May

What a cute little dancer!!
Hey, that guy looks familiar! Was there a pic of him in UtahMama's 1st trip report?

Heather, Happy Belated Birthday!
Aw, thank you for taking time out of your VERY busy day to give me a birthday shout-out!!

Okay, I gotta ask. How have you got to 570 posts and you have no avatar?! You must get an avatar! For those unsavvy about this kind of thing, an avatar is the little picture under your username.

Clutterbug, you were SOOO close, with 99 posts. I just can't seem to break into the top ten, myself. I've gotta stop with the obnoxiously long, no one reads them anyway, multiquotes!! :rotfl:

Question about shirring.... I plan to try this either today or tomorrow and had a question.

If I want to make a peasant top with shirring only in the back, is that possible? Do I need to do a bunch of lines or would a couple be ok? dd8 doesn't like how the peasant tops fit her, she would rather it be more fitting. But, I don't want shirring in the front.

ETA: Who does this darling belong to? I like that top, but is it shirred or is that just a sash tied around a regular peasant top?
jeansoutfit.jpg

Good grief you posted this almost 2 months ago! I'm so sorry I never responded! You probably long ago found an answer but I'll still reply. The top is shirred in the back with 4 lines. This makes the sash optional. However, I bought this outfit on ebay instead of sewing it myself so I can't be more specific.

As the shirring expert (I've shirred perty near 4 times now ;) )- yes you can shirr just the back. I think you'd need a minimum of 4 lines to make it look good, but I'm not shirr. You can even start the shirring in the middle of the shirt (you don't have to go from seam to seam).

To follow up on my previous reply, that is how Daisy's shirt is, just shirred in the middle of the back, not from seam to seam.

i would say bring it up just in case the DH just forgot and set it aside (like my Dh would) esp if he was sick, you could always just ask her if it fit ???Just a suggestion ;)
