LOL!! I was just thinking the same thing!!

Oh My Sweet Lord!! DD got her ballet recital costume today!! They are the sweetest, prettiest ever!! Now I know you are all thinking, come on...it's just a ballet costume! So I will include a picture of last year's costume. We are in a different studio this year and it is a world of difference...much more organized! Last year the girls danced to Beauty and the beast and Be My Guest for tap. The teacher didn't order the costumes early enough and her first choice was sold out so this is what we wound up with!! These pictures don't do it justice, it's a VERY bright canary yellow (one of the moms called it Big Bird Yellow!!) But the girls loved them and that's what matters...

Now here are this years!! We didn't know they were coming in. We didn't even know what the would look like. Still not sure what they are dancing to - recital isn't until April/May. The tutu is seperate for 2 different looks. Can you guess what princess she is?!

Her korkers even matched!! OK enough of my SHAMELESS posting, but I was sooo happy with the costume!! :cloud9:

SWEET! What a gorgeous costume! My DD starts dance tomorrow - I enrolled her because I wanted pictures of the costumes. Sick, huh?

So pretty! Now how do you get all these Disney themed Dance recitals? DD10 doesn't like dance anymore and DD2 is too young. Can't wait 'till next year!

We've lucked out!! The year before Beauty and the Beast, she did Cinderella. That costume was pretty, a blue sparkly version of the pink. DD was too young to take the class then.

Are you kidding me? No one has posted in almost 4 hours? What, do you people have LIVES or something???
Nope! No lives here!

2CuteKids!!!!
Those are the cutest costumes! Norah would LOVE dance! She has this "shakes her money makers" dance she does for me and Spongie that is borderline obscene... but pretty good, I'd say! She "learnt" from studying Dancing With the Stars.

Speaking of which, VOTE 6 times for Marie, everyone, pretty please!!!! She's come a long way!

Wow, that is a beautiful costume! When Megan took at the Y the teacher would pick the theme by what costumes were on clearance. She didn't want us to have to pay a killer amount for two costumes. You should see her sleeping beauty costume: I will tell you it looks more like your Belle one, except in pink!

Anyway, you guys miss me? I missed you! And I missed Heather's birthday and sweet story. I am always so exhausted when I visit my parents because I have to sleep in the same bed with Jacob the sleeping whirling dervish! I swear I didn't sleep but a couple of hours the whole time I was up there.

Loved all the new Christmas customs: I have got to get started on mine. Of course, now that I have time to make Megan's fleece Ariel jacket it is back up to the 80s here. And I am going to case that sweatshirt with the tree and Mickey buttons: so cute!

This is what I have been working on. There is a mother/son dance at the school Friday and the theme is 50s so I had to make a poodle skirt. Actually, it is a dachshund skirt. The pattern came with instructions for a pettiskirt: should I try it? It seems a little too flat and needs to be fluffed up. I am askeered though, the pattern did say easy, so how hard could it be (har har). I guess I'm taking a trip to JoAnn's tomorrow to get pettiskirt material.

I hope you all notice my JoJo pose! Jacob insisted I stand this way when he took the picture!

There is no picture of me twirling: I didn't want to scare you too much!

I swear if I read the term "whipped up" around here one more time I'm going to flip. Nothing just "whips up" for me as a matter of fact when I think it's going to seems to be when I have the most set backs.

...t.

LOL, the only thing I "whip up" is dinner because I have too much sewing to do to spend more than 15-20 minutes on food prep. ;)

Does anyone else have the problem of catching part of the bodice when attatching the skirt (or a ruffle). I think I'm just about done when I notice some of the boidce caught in the seam!! ARRGG!! This has happened to me on the last 2 things I've done! I guess I need to slow down!

YES! My biggest fear, though, is having the wrong part of a garment go through the cutter on the serger. I've some close a couple times and it's such a scary thing especially when I have a limited amount of a fabric.

You are not alone sister.. and the last time I attatched a ruffle I had it PERFECTLY (or nearly so) pinned and somehow I ended up w/ a wrinkley and puckered seam, despite all of my straightening and stretching. GRRR. Like I said, it's a good thing she's into skirts:thumbsup2 Even though I LOVE a twirl top!

I've noticed my seams sometimes look puckered/wrinkley if I don't remove the gathering threads or at least clip them every few inches. Even when I've used my ruffler foot, I usually remove the gathering threads if I can.

I've wondered the same thing - why don't they open a sub-forum? Have you tried looking in the bookmarks? There is a huge wealth of information there!

I've wondered sometimes about starting a board just for the ladies who follow this thread. That way we wouldn't have to worry about breaking board rules, we could have threads for specific topics (like shirring), etc.

okay, I have used heatnbond to iron on things but they keep coming off at the edges after washing, what am I doing wrong?

I think even the "Ultra" needs to have something on the edge to keep them in place, like fabric paint.

How cute! I definitely think you need a pettiskirt. I don't think any respectible "bobby soxer" would have worn a circle skirt without a crinoline or petticoat.

Thanks so much to all those who expressed well wishes for me. I'm still struggling with pain but I'm either getting more used to it or it's lessening. I'm still sewing and have very good motivation to get caught up by Friday - I'm going on a "girls only" weekend with some friends.

Here's one of the projects I completed last week. I have some Christmas sets in the works for this week as well as some twirl sets for 2 girls' upcoming Disney trip.

Ooooh, that is so pretty! I wish I could applique like that!

Oh I hope you feel better really soon! I was really hoping you were not posting because you were busy sewing: I'm so sorry. I hope you have a wonderful girls weekend!

Could you please post a picture of the back of this gorgeous creation? You have been so wonderful in explaining corsets to me, but I would really like to see a picture of the back of yours because I really want to try one your way sometime. That one is just beautiful with the pink and blue fabric (your appliqué work is just perfect as always!).

Thanks for showing up my dachshund skirt! I'm sure it will much more impressive if I can figure out how to make a pettiskirt, LOL!

Ohhhhh, I forgot to mention that I talked to the Mom whose daughter I made the turkey outfit for that M is wearing in my sig and she told me Thanksgiving was cancelled because her husband caught a stomach virus. Selfish me could only think of "she didn't even get to wear the outfit?" When I dropped off the outfit she was sick with the bug so I gave it to her husband. She never mentioned it or thanked me for it. Do you think I should casually bring it up? Or should I stop thinking about myself and just wait for her to say something?

Love the JOJO pose! Perfect!!!! no twirling! It would be a first for a mommy here!
I think the pettiskirt may be fun to make. then again I have not done one yet, so I can't say.

.

1. I'm glad to hear that!
2. YOu know that's probably it...I used elastic thread to gather it and like an idiot I sewed the ruffle w/ the thread against the fabric so I wasn't able to completely (or even mostly) remove it. :thumbsup2

Thanks again Lisa!

There in the background are my DD9 and DD2.5 and sitting in front is a former dance studio kid who has gone to Disney to dance in High School Musical. He flew in for the recital.....

Glad you are feeling better and are still sewing. I just love your applique....in looking at it I am half expecting Cindy to speak to me...she looks soooo real! I love the colors and fabric choices too! :thumbsup2 Have so much fun on your girls weekend trip...sounds absolutely devine!!! :goodvibes

Awwww what a cute skirt! Your adorable in your Jo Jo pose! I am askeered to do a pettiskirt cause it way way way too much gathering for me (I am a ruffle footless house:rolleyes1 ). I would rather spend the $50 and buy one :sad2:

WOW! As usual, absolutely gorgeous! You never cease to amaze me. When I grow up, I wanna sew like you, Lisa!

Stop... panic time...:scared1:

Well for me anyway, we leave around 4 am on Thursday morning and I'm still sewing... :sad2: I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get done. I'm still doing laundry too.

I have two twirly tops to do now, one Little Einsteins and one Ariel. I had found fabulous velvet cords that have Ariel embroidered on one of the legs and I found fabric to match, I just have to finish the top.

Utahmama, I was just thinking about you on my way home from Wal-mart, a local radio station is doing nothing but Christmas music, and they were playing the Muppets rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas (ba da da da da) so everytime Miss Piggy was doing her part I thought of you. I'm more of a New Zeland and his Boomerang Fish Act kind of girl. :santa:

Okay, I'm going back to sewing now that I had to drive to Wal-mart because all of the scissors in my house disappeared when I needed them...

Tomorrow I have to pack, get a new driver's license (since my 3 year old hid mine and she doesn't remember where) and finish printing out everything. I also have to call the Disney Bakery so I can order a cake for my FIL's birthday. Is there anyway for me to be three people at one time? I sure could use the extra hands.

Heather, Happy Belated Birthday!

Now I'm really going back to my machine and getting to work with Pepsi in hand...:hourglass Clock is ticking... Only Two Days, 8 hours and 56 minutes left until our plane takes off.

After looking over the last few days of posts, I wanted to say how much I love all of the creations! I especially like the boys t-shirt with the Christmas tree on it. I'm always making stuff for my DDs and nothing for DS. I may have to CASE that shirt!

Beautiful, as all of your creations always are. I hope you feel much better soon. Have a great time on your "girls only" weekend. I have one of those coming up in April (cruise!).

Yay!!! I'm so excited. That was mine!!!! I'm so glad you liked it. I'm just giddy to have something that might (even in the slightest possibility) be CASE-worthy! LOL! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
