Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 5

Anyway, you guys miss me? I missed you! And I missed Heather's birthday and sweet story. I am always so exhausted when I visit my parents because I have to sleep in the same bed with Jacob the sleeping whirling dervish! I swear I didn't sleep but a couple of hours the whole time I was up there.

Loved all the new Christmas customs: I have got to get started on mine. Of course, now that I have time to make Megan's fleece Ariel jacket it is back up to the 80s here. And I am going to case that sweatshirt with the tree and Mickey buttons: so cute!

This is what I have been working on. There is a mother/son dance at the school Friday and the theme is 50s so I had to make a poodle skirt. Actually, it is a dachshund skirt. The pattern came with instructions for a pettiskirt: should I try it? It seems a little too flat and needs to be fluffed up. I am askeered though, the pattern did say easy, so how hard could it be (har har). I guess I'm taking a trip to JoAnn's tomorrow to get pettiskirt material.

I hope you all notice my JoJo pose! Jacob insisted I stand this way when he took the picture!

th_100_2002.jpg

There is no picture of me twirling: I didn't want to scare you too much!

I know how you feel, I had to sleep with dd2 at my inlaws and her hair was all in my face every 10 minutes. And when it wasn't, her feet were! UGH!

Ok, if it's been in the 80's can I safely assume we'll have good weather this coming week? I'm really hoping for it, though I am packing leggings, jeans, ls tshirts and jackets just in case! How close are you to Orlando? I'd love to meet you. I don't believe our rental house has any fish ;) Sorry, couldn't resist!!!

I love the skirt and the JoJo pose!!!! How much fabric did that take? I know for one for dd8 it took a lot! Please let me know how the petti turns out, wait... now that I think of it, I think I have a pattern too. I think one came with the poodle skirt pattern I bought for dd8, HMM... I must check!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much to all those who expressed well wishes for me. I'm still struggling with pain but I'm either getting more used to it or it's lessening. I'm still sewing and have very good motivation to get caught up by Friday - I'm going on a "girls only" weekend with some friends.
th_cindeco2.jpg

Amazing, as always!!! I wish I had your eye for coordinating fabrics. The best I can do is look at someone else's and find fabrics that are closely match!

Ohhhhh, I forgot to mention that I talked to the Mom whose daughter I made the turkey outfit for that M is wearing in my sig and she told me Thanksgiving was cancelled because her husband caught a stomach virus. Selfish me could only think of "she didn't even get to wear the outfit?" When I dropped off the outfit she was sick with the bug so I gave it to her husband. She never mentioned it or thanked me for it. Do you think I should casually bring it up? Or should I stop thinking about myself and just wait for her to say something?

Geesh!!!! I'd definitely bring it up! I'd just ask if it fit ok and if she got to wear it. Maybe she'll be able to wear it next year. And, if she doesn't plan to, I'd ask if I could have it back! That was a really cute outfit.

th_IMGP2929.jpg

There in the background are my DD9 and DD2.5 and sitting in front is a former dance studio kid who has gone to Disney to dance in High School Musical. He flew in for the recital....

th_IMGP2927.jpg

Thats about as close as I come to knowing a Disney CM

That costume is very pretty! And, are you saying he was in the actual HSM movie? That's super cool! And is this your ds?

I love the shirts for Ohana, I just had to cancel our ADRs for next week due to budget issues :sad2: Maybe next time! I love the Prince Charming shirt, your kids are too dang cute!

Yes, I missed you! I feel for you having to sleep in the same bed as a kid. Ugh! However, perhaps it was the thought of something else keeping you awake....:fish:

Clutterbug, you were SOOO close, with 99 posts. I just can't seem to break into the top ten, myself. I've gotta stop with the obnoxiously long, no one reads them anyway, multiquotes!!

Ahh, to be #2 :woohoo: I guess my love for talking follows me online as well!!! :rotfl: I bet if you put me and Teresa in a room together, we'd never stop!!!!!! And BTW, Heather, I read every one of your posts!

Good grief you posted this almost 2 months ago! I'm so sorry I never responded! You probably long ago found an answer but I'll still reply. The top is shirred in the back with 4 lines. This makes the sash optional. However, I bought this outfit on ebay instead of sewing it myself so I can't be more specific.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Yep, I've since made many a peasant top!!!! I did shir just the back of one and it looks wonky on the hanger, but looks good on and dd8 loves it. She thinks the peasant tops make her look too boxy.

:yay: 2 Days til we leave, so I will be posting the girls outfits shortly! Stay tuned!!!! :yay:

Yes, I missed you! I feel for you having to sleep in the same bed as a kid. Ugh! However, perhaps it was the thought of something else keeping you awake....:fish:
I love the skirt and the JoJo toe! I do so wish you would post a twirling picture!

WHAT!? No call to thank you profusely and exclaim over the gloriousness that is the Thanksgiving outfit? I'm totally serious, that's really rude! I would casually ask if her daughter liked it, or something.

I think it was more the grinding of teeth and the fact that he was constantly hitting me around the head, but you can think what you want! :snooty:

Let's say that I am not the most graceful girl out there, so there will be no twirling photos!

I knew you guys would understand. I was so excited to give her the outfit and to hear nothing is so frustrating. Maybe I will try to casually bring it up at the bus stop today.

Super cute!!!! I love the daschund! I want to make myself a poodle skirt, so I will have one for costume occasions!!!!

Yes, everyone should have a poodle skirt with pettiskirt! You never know when you might need one!

1) I don't understand why the little person who sleeps in a little bed has to move all around when they are in a bigger bed!
2) Unfortunately, you can't assume anything about Orlando. One time we went in October and it was high 80s. We were swimming every day. Then a cold front came in and the temp dropped 30 degrees overnight. We had to buy jackets/sweatshirts because we didn't bring any! We are an hour and a half from Disney. Sorry about your ADRs but I bet you'll have a great time anyway. Sometimes I don't make them because I forget and then it's too late to get in.
3) It took 4 5/8 yards. I bought the cheapest ploy/cotton I could find. It is McCalls 7253 and it makes a girl and adult poodle skirt and pettiskirt.
4) I was feeling really petty for being bothered, so thanks for the support!
5) Can't wait to see the outfits!

Total Costume Envy!!!!! My dd's dance center always likes the little girls in traditional pink tutu type costumes. They were not nearly as cute as these!! We even had a Disney theme last year (ours was Bambi) and we didn't get a super cute Cinderella type outfit. I love the yellow. Super duper cute!

Bambi?! What did they dance to?

wow the first one is a bit yellow but still cute, and the second just too cute for words i am waiting for spring again to put DD back in dance i do not like to drive in the snow ..:rolleyes1 i have been pretty happy with her dance outfits so far here is her last costume
DSC00017-1.jpg

Once we got past the SHOCK of the BRIGHT yellow, they weren't that bad. The teacher never should have shown us the costumes that she intended to order. Those were beautiful - looked like Belle's dress. DH saw this years (pink) costume and told DD how beautiful she was. When she left the room he said how much better they were than last years.

I know it wasn't that long ago, but who made this hoodie dress?

snowmenfront.jpg

What pattern(s) did use? I'd love to try to make this.

Awww! Look at the beautiful Jayedy! (She does look a lot like her mom!) And she is just as sweet as she looks! We  her! Hugs from Jaydie!

 :cool1: :thumbsup2 :dance3: :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay: I made it on the list I finally. I really love everything you all are sharing I have been away sewing. I am trying to stay away from the computer so I can get Christmas presents finished. I do want to share my day after thanksgiving experience with you. I was at joanns at 5:30 for the big sale. and can you believe I was not the only crazy crafty lady there. I was in the middle of the line I walked in the store to find a group of lady's yelling and fighting over the .99 snuggle flannel :confused3 yikes It was nuts It made my sister-in-law and I laugh so it was fun. now standing in line for 45 minutes to get my fabric cut was not. Ok that's my story for today have a nice day lady's and Tom and now just keep sewing just keep sewing. :dance3:

Well, how can I resist posting when Heather points out that I'm this >< close to 100 posts??? :yay:

Only 11 more days until we leave and I've been sewing like crazy. I finished the outfits for my niece and nephew so that I could bring those to them over Thanksgiving. Last night I finished DD's flannel robe (for nighttime swimming!) and need to start one for DS. We also realized that DD has grown too tall for her Tink overalls. I think I can cut them off at the waist and fix them somehow. Unfortunately, I have no pics of the completed outfits because DD has been a total stinker about modeling for me. :headache: Hopefully I can get some good pics during the trip!

Get well vibes to all those battling the sickies!!

Man, I feel like I'm not even on here that much and I am in the top 13! It must have been all the posts I did before our trip in May (waaaaaay back in the beginning)!

Three weeks till our vacation and I finally finished all our outfits. Most are pretty basic compared to things others make, but it's the style my family likes.

Clutterbug, you were SOOO close, with 99 posts. I just can't seem to break into the top ten, myself. I've gotta stop with the obnoxiously long, no one reads them anyway, multiquotes!! :rotfl:
:yay: :yay: :yay: I am over 100!!! What now it's 150 to be :cool2: I better get chatty :lmao:
Also I ready all of the posts Heather!!! unless I get many many pages behind :rotfl:

The dance outfits are sooo cute- DD is such a dancer- I'm sure she would love dance class when she is older!! One of my cousins girls is still in dance and she is 13!! She LOVES it! When do kids usually stop dancing?? I don't have much experience with it- mine are only 4 & 1.

Oh forgot to say:
Steph- Have fun at the mommy/son dance- you'll have a great time I'm sure:cutie: and I hope you asked if the dress fit you dds friend. What a bummer they didn't even say thanks!!

Lisa- Cindy outfit is really beautiful you really have an eye for fabric combos!! And you appliquing abilities- WOW!!
I hope I get better with mine I have been practicing, maybe by christmas I 'll be able to actually make something with an applique that is NOT puffy painted!! And of course share it with all you talented people!!

Well I list many of the posts I tried to multi-quote and don't remember all of them. However, I do want to thank everyone again for the kind words and compliments.

Do you mind me asking why you're not feeling well? No need to answer if you don't want to, but I was afraid I missed you telling us. I really hope you get to feeling better for your girls weekend!

I'm not sure exactly what is causing the pain but I wake most mornings with my wrists and forearms aching. Some days it would go away during the day but some it would still hurt at bedtime. It got to the point where hugging Zoe hurt sometimes. I think it's partly age but mostly from sewing so much, especially doing applique. I think turning things and keeping my muscles/joints under tension is putting more strain on them than they're used to. I've been trying to reduce my sewing sessions to shorter stretches and consciously trying to keep my arms & hands relaxed as I sew. It's been helping because I have fewer mornings waking to the pain and those days it usually goes away by early afternoon. I was very worried when I first started noticing how often I woke with pain because both grandmothers had bad arthritis in their hands and wrists.

I'm also having pain in my feet and ankles that I believe is connected to how I sit when sewing and at the computer. I have to remind myself that I'm not as young as I'd like to think so sitting in weird positions can cause discomfort for a longer period than it used to. LOL Sorry if that was TMI but sometimes getting older sucks. ;)

All the outfits are cute- gotta love those creative DISigns ladies!!!! If that's where you got the iron ons....
And I have to say that I love the Christmas tree gate- I have been avoiding putting up our tree cuz' I know dd would have everything off it in seconds I may have to CASE your idea!! Also I to enjoy your baby on the way updates in your siggy. I miss those days and enjoyed my pregnancy- well most days anyway!! :rotfl2: DH says no more kids but I am not ready to say no more just yet!!

I love the creative design ladies. They made wonderful things for me!!

The baby gate around the tree is the way to go. If I didn't have it the tree would be bare and the presents all unwrapped :scared1: !!!! Ds1 is way to mischievous, plus I watch a 2yo during the day, and the two of them together can destroy anything in 30 seconds flat. I'm trying to start packing for our trip but the little ones keep "helping" me.

I said I was done with kids. Dh was supposed to get snipped but we kept putting it off. Now #4 is on his way. Ha ha! So I made dh get snipped before this one is ever born!

I always put the tree in the playpen. We had one of those pens that was square...not the pack and play type that is all the rage now. I would drape a
Christmas quilt over that sides and just decorate the part of the tree that showed. It was great!

Just wondering, do you think it could be carpel tunnel (sp?)?

That is a great idea. Why did I not think of this? I just don't put out any gifts until the last minute and put all plastic ornaments on the bottom. I started doing that not because of DD but due to dear cat.

OT sort of - we are not having a tree this year. We are living in a small apartment right now while our house is being built. We were supposed to be in the new house this past summer but now it is looking like it will be April 2008 when we finally move in. We just don't have space for a tree. Very sad. DH and I are borderline depressed now due to the house and the holidays and the stress.
What I really need is a vacation. DH is most likely going to Orlando for a business trip in Jan and while I think DD and I should join him, DH is not so positive. He thinks if we go it should be adults only but I am not so sure I could leave DD for more than one or two nights and it is not worth the money to fly there and stay in a hotel for only two nights. Key to know is that we already have park tickets (we bought seven day non-expiry tickets and only used 3 days in Sept) and DD would be free for park admission. I guess I can hope that DH will be thoughtful enough and surprise me on Christmas morning with plane tickets.
