Question: has anyone made a stripwork jumper out of flannel? I am making a Christmas one for someone and she likes what I picked out except she really loves one design but it's only in flannel. I was thinking of just buying flannel pieces for the whole thing instead of having all regular cotton and one strip of flannel but was wondering if it would be too heavy and look too much like pjs? Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Okey dokey - has anyone seen cute fabric with little candycanes on it anywhere?

I saw some really cute red candy cane print at Hobby Lobby today, I think it was $4.99 and 30% off. I had it in my cart and I ended up putting it back since I alread have a bunch of other Christmas fabrics in my stash!

IN PRAISE OF THE PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT KEEPER!

I just want to publicly thank the photobucket account keeper! I don't go on there everyday, just when I'm looking for some inspiriation. I was just there, and WOW! You've done a LOT of work since the last time I logged on! I'm SUPER impressed at how organized you are! I just wanted to say thanks for keeping up with what has to be 1000's of pics and keeping them accessible to all of us. You Rock!

Ha ha, the one time I get 15 pages behind! But thank you  . I just kind of work in the background hoping people use the site. I tried to get it more organized, but I don't know if my brain sorts things out the same way others do. In other words I have no clue if my filing system makes sense to everyone else!! :rotfl2: Thank you to everybody for the thank yous.

Ok, I'm all caught up! Hooray! There have been some seriously cute outfits posted! It's always so fun for me to come on and see what everyone's come up with!

I'm seriously in awe of Lisa's and Camelot's stashes! Holy schneikes! I believe I would get lost in all that fabric!

And I am keeping Castle's little Ireland and mytwotinks and her friend in my thoughts and prayers.

I've finished a pair of decoupage jeans for DD and almost finished DS's Mickey shirt - it just needs buttons, but do you guys think I should use black buttons or white buttons? I can't decide.

The shirts are pretty much CASEd from you know where.

I gotta keep sewing - a little less than a month to go!

I vote for black (which I already saw that everybody else did too:) ) but after seeing LisaZoe's suggestion I change my vote to the red and yellow!

Hi everyone, don't want to make you all sad, but I just can't stop thinking and crying. This morning when I dropped DS5 Luke off at school I found out that one of his little fellow pre-schoolers, a cute little girl named Ashley, has inoperable brain cancer. She turned 5 in October, 2 days before my DS. I guess they were approved by Make-a-Wish for a trip to Disneyworld on Oct. 26, and since her mom is pregnant and won't be able to travel in a few weeks, they actually got to go to Disneyworld on October 29th. I was feeling really bad and wishing I'd had a way of making her a custom outfit for her trip. Anyhow, here is my thought, but I'm not sure about it. We do not know her or her family. She has a different teacher than DS so he likely only knows her from the playground and singing time. I was thinking I could make her like a minnie dot skirt or something with a mickey (minnie) head t-shirt. I looked at her website at caringbridge.org and her parents talk a lot about their faith and how people need to understand they are expecting a miracle. Their website also states that on an October 3rd MRI her tumor had doubled in size. My thought was if I made her an after the fact outfit, I could include in a letter that I hoped it reminded her of a fun trip and I hoped she would wear it on a future Disney trip. I don't know. If you were her parents would that seem weird? I just can't stop thinking about her. She even looks like my kids. She has also recently been through chemo, so I don't even know where to begin estimating her size. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Oh, that is so sweet of you! I agree with whoever said a t-shirt dress might be a great idea. They are so comfortable and you wouldn't have to know her size. Poor things, my prayers go out for them too. Too many people are having this in their lives right now it seems.

Here is my latest. Ireland was feeling well enough to pose. I took her splint off for the pictures...:sad2: Yes I know...bad mommy...she has to wear it for 4 weeks...:sad1:

I did the Cindy Loo Who braids on her with the wire in them to make them stand out. Now she wants to wear them to school like that...:scared1:

I agree with Ireland, she has to have the braids! Beautiful outfit too! Her cheek looks painful:guilty: But she looks happy and like she was feeling pretty well. It's amazing how quickly kids bounce back.

Ladies, I just had to comment. Everyone is doing a PHENOMENAL job on their customs. I love the Minnie dot outfit, so cute!!

I just wanted to share my Thanksgiving outfit with everyone! Have a great weekend girls! :thumbsup2

Incredibly cute and I love the fabric!
OH!!! :goodvibes and just a few minutes ago I got a call for an interview from the bloodbank. I said I would LOVE to come in for an interview and she said she was glad that I was excited and looked forward to meeting me. I'm a closer, you see, my resume may not always be impressive (though this time I'm more than qualified) but if I can get an interview- I'm gold. SO hopefully between my experience and charm I'll get the position. any and all pixie dust is welcome, it couldn't hurt!!

...t.

:tink: :tink: :tink: Lots of Pixie Dust coming your way! Good luck!

Hi there!
I stumbled across this thread via a google search earlier in the week. Wow, you guys are amazingly talented. I haven't read all 1200 + pages, but I've been looking at lots of the pictures. You all have inspired me to try some sewing for my kiddos. We will be heading for our very first Disney trip in December 2008, so I still have some time. I think I'm going to try a simple Thanksgiving skirt for my daughter, just to get my feet wet.

mommy to J and H

Welcome! This thread is very inspiring!

Here's what I've been doing this week while the girls were battling a stomach virus  We didn't do any schoolwork, so I had plenty of time to work on my ToDo list:
Skirt for dd7 - I made a different shirt than this, I'll post pics of it later

The shirt is going to be for dd8 to wear with these capris:

Very cute, love all of it! Did you roll up the capris or did you buy them that way?

I am sorry to the one who post this but I am just trying to show you all what it is I need help with. I hope you don't mind. I am using these overalls as the not so cased but kind cased surprised Christmas outfits for the girls to wear to dland xmas morning and I really trying hard not to waite till the last minute to finish them. Ok now here is my question how do I make the skirt and still make the side buttons functional? I don't want to cut before I know what I am doing for sure. And if I am covering the bib part with fabric do I need to remove the pockets? Any and all help would be seeeew great. TIA :flower3:

Honestly, I thought of 4th of July at first too! Sorry :rolleyes1 But after looking at it, I really like it and the fabrics you chose. Maybe you could make a super obvious Christmas top, so everyone sees it first and has no doubt it's Christmas-y. I love the white trim on it, very pretty!

Love the pirate shirt, good idea! And that costume is so cute! My dh would love that! Not really, he just loves the Incredibles and already thinks he is Superman!

I went to a local quilt shop today and found me some Michael Miller Ironworks fabric!! They only had a little under 2 yards, though. I could have spent all day there. If I could, I'd just unroll all those bolts of fabric and waller around in it! The "feel" of quilt shop fabric is so nice!

"Waller" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I thought we only did that here in TN!!!!

Okey dokey - has anyone seen cute fabric with little candycanes on it anywhere? I got some of the rainbow dot and rainbow stripe fabric from walmart on sale .50!!!! I have no idea what i'll use it for, but it was too cute to pass up!!!!!

I bought some at WM that is really pretty. It's red and has two candy canes crossed with a bow and sprig of Holly (it's not right in front of me, but I think that's right!) all over it. I love it!

Pretty! Now, if I could just get to the Grinch outfit I have planned... :rolleyes1

Very cute, love all of it! Did you roll up the capris or did you buy them that way?

I bought them that way. Dd8 is getting picky about what I make her, so no ruffles or too much fuss is better for her. I let her choose between these and regular jeans.

Can't help with the skirt question, though it looks like the skirt is attached below the buttons. And, YES, remove the pocket from the bib first.

I love this thread, as it inspires me for more bracelet designs. Me, I'm not a fabric addict (that'd be mom, lol)...however, I'm a ribbon addict. And guess what? I've got minnie dot ribbon,:lmao:
There's a talented bunch here.

I've not made those overalls (yet), but if I were doing it, I would take off the pocket on the bib. For the skirt, I think it was recommended that the back portion around the waist band has elastic in it. That way when you put the overalls on, it gives a bit. It may have also been discussed that the side buttons aren't really used on little ones (as they don't really have hips yet), and the just sorta slip on and off. That probably doesn't makes sense, does it?

Besides, the people in the groups that aren't full want you to join so they can send out (and get their) fabric! We aren't closing the swap until December 1st.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! I'm in one of those groups still looking for company. :)

I didn't even see in the picture that the buttons wern't covered. Thanks for pointing that out.:thumbsup2 :flower3:

I am making them for DD6 which kinda has some hip. And the DD2 twins should be no problem. I am also making them paints not shorts so I kinda have to tweak it alittle I guess. Thanks for the help.

Okay - now to start figuring out those PJ pants for DSIL!!!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

Hiya All!

I have been busy sewing - and can't wait to share what I created! I have to head to Noah's soccer game, make some bows and then I will have Emma model it! Can I say that I didn't make it for Emma to keep? LOL? Not sure what I can let go here - and I want to follow the rules!

For all those making things with the Pokemon fabric....can you post a pic of the fabric and tell me where you got it? We looked at Hancock but didn't find any :sad1: . My son is Pokemon obsessed and I would like to make him a couple of things -- since his sister gets lots of stuff. Thanks!!!
