I think this is the same pattern that I used for my DS skunk costume. I will post my pics later today. Your Lion turned out really cute, I really liked the lion, but I didn't want to do all of that ribbon. I am sure that was mighty time consuming!!! Good job.

My mom made me a skunk costume when I was a kid. Actually it was a black cat costume for Halloween and then she added a stripe so I could be a skunk for a school play. We called it Pepe le peu since she added the stripe later.

Oh NOOOO! Poor thing! Did you call her "Grace"? :lmao:

My dad used to call me Grace all the time because I was so clumsy (and he loved Gracie Allen). He would always tell me "say goodnight Gracie" and I was trained at a young age to respond "goodnight Gracie." In fact, that's why Megan's middle name is Grace.

T: love the minnie dot outfit! Liliana looks adorable: Megan said she looks beautiful and she can't wait to have a playdate with her!

Just wanted to say THANKS for all the sweet comments on DD's Hannah concert outfit. We had an amazing time - DD sang every word - and when Hannah or the Jonas Brothers say "get up Seattle" she gets up - LOL - why doesn't that work for me??? Oh - and I wan't the only adult up singing and dancing either!

Wow it looks like you guys had a great time. Your seats look fantastic. Where there any empty seats? Just curious since those ticket brokers have the prices going thru the cieling. My daughter was so upset I couldn't find tickets or was that me. Anywho I just can't afford 200 bucks a pop.
Love everyones halloween outfits.

I haven't been sewing for about a month, but this week was motivated and found time. Here's some of what I completed. I have 70+ outfits to complete by mid March, so I started early. That does not include what I'm doing for the adults on our trip.

I'm so proud of myself for completing sooo much this weekend. I also did 3 shirts for my DSIL and finished a pheasant cinderella top for my DN xmas present. I sewed the elastic on 3 tutu skirts and have one more to go. It's only Sunday morning! I only have my DS15mos here today, the other 2 are at grandma's so I have time to sew again.   3 minimum bananas right? Sorry for the long post, just haven't posted any completed projects for so long I got a little excited:woohoo: :woohoo:

I love all of the outfits! You're quite the busy beaver! I'm very impressed!

Ok, so I finished the thanksgiving outfit, I think. Here is the 3 peices finished. I was thinking of still adding the apron but it might make it way tooo busy. a sash for the shirt and pants combo probably and maybe appliqueing GIVE THANKS on the bodice. I don't know, want to start on xmas already so I may just leave it the way it is..

I love this outfit! Is the dress part the pattern from YCMT? I'm just folding my fabric for Thanksgiving outfits for my girls. I want to get them started soon since I want to move on to Christmas for my girls too. I love the Christmas fabric that is out everywhere and can't wait to use it. I really wish I was a faster sewer and could whip things out faster! I'd love for my girls to each have a couple of outfits but we'll see what gets done!

Question for you all! Why do you sew? I guess it sounds totally vain to say that I sew because I want my DD to stand out in the crowd. I LOVE the oohs & aahs that come when she is wearing something that I have created for her. I find it extremely gratifying. I love responding to the question, "where did you get that?" with "oh, I made it!" So, how vain is that?

SO, the reason I wondered about that - our family went to the Pumpkin Patch yesterday. Of course, my DD had on a pair of jeans that I had embellished. Everyone LOVED them! And so did my DD, and so did I! So I guess that's what matters, huh?

Anyway, here's a pic!

I probably sew for the same reason you do. I love for my DDs to look special and they love getting compliments. My four year old eats it up! Another one of the reasons is that I started looking at custom clothes on :wizard: and really couldn't afford the ones I liked. Since I'm such a novice at sewing I can't make them either :rotfl2: but hopefully one day I'll get there! I have found that I am getting better and quicker. I sure do wish I could whip stuff out like some of you!

I finished Tessa's Cinderella pumpkin dress!! However, that's not what I'm posting because my computer is acting like a brat at the moment. So, here is Tessa's costume, instead! She wanted to be a fairy, but I talked her into being a "Winter fairy" seeing as how she'd freeze her butt off in the store-bought costumes. We went to a party yesterday, so she got to wear it. I just covered up her tinkerbell wings with this fabric so I didn't have to deal with trying to make them myself!

I was so frustrated with screwing up the dress that goes under the robe, I wasn't going to finish it. But, she looked so sad when I told her I wasn't going to finish it, that I went ahead and did it.

Cute costume! I still haven't figured out how to say no to my girls when they give you those sad eyes, I'm such a sucker and they know it!

It's finally done!! I'd like to thank fortheluvofpooh for getting the sparkly brown fabric for me. Without her, this dress would have no bottom ruffle. Thank you to all of you wonderfuly sweet women who went to your local WalMart in search of it, too! :grouphug: You're all so great! The outdoor pictures are sort of fuzzy and I don't know why. :confused3 I'd like to point out that this was my first zipper. If you don't look too closely, it doesn't look too bad! I still think Cinderella looks both surprised and suspicious...

Oh my gosh Heather! The dress is so beautiful! Love it! I can only imagine how much time it took, there are so many details! What an awesome job and I just love the idea, it's so original! I'm no where near that creative! Way to go:banana:

oh , I think I answered my own question

Love everyones halloween outfits.

We did have good seats - it wasn't a HUGE arena so all of them were pretty good - except the floor (unless you were front couple of rows). I guess I was lucky - but both myself and my friend had no problems the day of the sale on Ticketmaster. You know there weren't a ton of empty seats but I do know that 2 days before the concert they released more - I would keep checking.

Thanks for all the great comments guys. We have just returned and boy is it a bummer to be home.

what pattern did you use for the top? love the outfit

I used a pattern for a bodice for a stripwork dress and used a t-shirt of hers as a guide to lengthen it. I wanted it to be longer but I cut it straight and it fit funny around the hips, so I shortened it. If I did it again I'd cut it w/ a slight A-line.

My son asked me what I wanted for Christmas last night. I asked why he was thinking about Christmas already and he said since I work so hard at sewing nice outfits for the two of them, he wanted to get me something super special just for me for Christmas. That's why I sew!

I am doing a tshirt for DH, premade tee shirt by hanes. I had Pat make me a Mickey head which is going to be the center for the shirt and then she did some camo mickeys which I printed out 40 of them. DH is turning the big 4-0 this Nov.

Does anyone have any blue camo mickey material they can spare? I am doing iron ons but wanted to add something to his jeans to match the shirt. Make him really look 40 :rotfl:
here are the mickey ears I am using

oh I have 4 oufits in different stages of completion at the moment. I got distracted this week, so hopefully sunday I can get a lot done! It is the stripwork jumper from YCMT. I love that pattern and it can be used several different ways! It takes time and major concentration to whip out the patterns quickly.

I haven't been on this board for ages, but I wanted to share the outfits I made for our DisneyLand trip. We had a fabulous time and the clothes got nonstop attention. :) I couldn't believe it!!

That is about the sweetest thing I've ever heard. It's so nice to be appreciated. Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm really doing all this sewing for me, because I want the kids to be cute or something, & then dd will tell me how much she likes something I made her & I remember that, no, THAT'S why I'm doing it.

And finally, my favorite photo from our trip:

All those outfits are great, especially the Minnie top & skirt, but this pic is just too precious.

I absolutely love these outfits, but the best is the picture of the three of them in front of the castle. How precious.

Awwe, steph, you raised'em right!!:goodvibes

I finally got Halloween pics uploaded.

The Star Wars family (minus Chewie the cat)

I used the same pattern as the lion & the skunk for dd1's Ewok costume.

OH just an fyi.... my walmart had the Minnie Dot red/white on clearance $1.00 a yd. If I didn't have 4 yrd hanging in my closet with nothing to do I would have gotten it. Just wanted to let the wallyworld shoppers know.

Josephine turned 4 on Halloween! I made her a little birthday outfit for school today. oh made the necklace too! It is sad to make an outfit for one day, but she loved going to school in it today. she gets to have her bday at school today. we did not want to do it on halloween at school.

Here are our Halloween pictures, after being on this thread so much I felt the need to sew all three costumes this year! My "little stinker" aka skunk got a ton of compliments, but everyone commented on how original they all were! I think the all liked the fact that no one else had the same costume as they did. OK my pics are done downloading now so here we go...

DD in her tooth fairy costume and "tooth" treat bag.

DS as a baseball, my DH is a baseball coach so everything around here revolves around baseball!

IMG_9718.jpg

And here is my little skunk, I have to show more than one pic of him because he was just so dang cute!!!

IMG_9785.jpg

Here he is crawling around and looks pretty skunk-like. :goodvibes

IMG_9712.jpg

One of my DS actually out trick or treating, he loved the houses that let you pick out of the bowl, he grabbed handfuls and everyone thought he was so cute they let him keep it all! Mommy liked that too!!!

One last picture of all three kids.

OHHH, I MUST go find clearance Minnie Dot to go with my other 10+ yards that have no plans. I wouldn't feel as bad about screwing it up if if only cost $1.00.:lmao:
