I haven't been on this board for ages, but I wanted to share the outfits I made for our DisneyLand trip. We had a fabulous time and the clothes got nonstop attention. :) I couldn't believe it!!

DD's Nightmare Before Christmas Set:
100_4222.jpg

Oh those outfits rock i love the NBC. Great job.

ETA: I did a search for "Kid's sewing machine" on amazon.com and they have ALL sorts of kid's sewing machines. I guess I never knew these existed anymore!

Hey, look what I saw in the Lillian Vernon catalog yesterday!! It's also on lillianvernon.com These would make the cutest gifts for our kids (ages 8 and up). Too bad Tessa's a little young for these!

020121.jpg

It's $39.98 and here's what it says about it:
The perfect "first" real sewing machine by White handles grown-up chores, too! Made to last with tough plastic exterior, 7 all-metal gears. Large space for guiding fabrics. Locking straight stitch for sewing projects, repairs. Threaded and ready to use, has built-in bobbin winder, foot pedal, 4 metal bobbins (3 with white thread, 1 with black), removable spool holder, how-to's. 4 "AA" batteries are not included, but AC adapter is. Lightweight mini, 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 8 3/4" high. Ages 8 and up, adult supervision suggested.

After I saw that, I looked at target.com and they have this:
41EWC5TG3SL__SS260_.jpg

This one is pricier at $59.99.
• Great first sewing machine for budding dressmakers
• Features drop-in bobbin, easy lay-in threading and 3 stitch types: straight, zigzag and reverse
• 4-point feed system keeps fabric straight and flat as you sew
• Made of high-impact ABS for extra durability
• 9Hx5Wx11.25L"

I was at Hancock today and they had a small sewing machine that was made by Janome for $49.99. It had some pretty decent features, I am sure that you can find in their sales flyer online. It was on sale from $59.99.

I also remember last year the day after Thanksgiving Kmart had a little sewing machine on sale for $19.99. It wasn't a kids sewing machine, but it was a good size for kids. Better than the junkie toy sewing machines that only chain stitch!

I am actually thinking of giving my DD my old sewing machine for Christmas. She sewed an outfit for her Build-A-Bear last weekend and did a really good job! I should post it, she was VERY proud of it and got a lot of compliments on it during the Teddy Bear parade at school(they could dress up bears and have a parade instead of dressing up in costumes!).

I am looking for someone to make 3 corsets for our Pirate Princess party, one for me, and one for each of my daughters. I Have fabric and what I want, if anyone on here knows how to make corsets, can you PLEASE PM me???? I would love to have some made!!! And let me know how much it would "estimate" be. I am about a size 8, and my DDs are (or will be at the time) 1 and 3.5 years old!

Since we were stuck at home for 2 days with pink eye, this is how I spent my time:
th_100_1947.jpg

I used simplicity 3680. I wasn't really happy with how big it is around the neck. I should have made it longer and the tie higher but I was just playing around. I think I am going to try the YMCT peasant top next. I just can't find the perfect one!
The ribbon skirt was super easy though!

I use the YCMT one and I love it! The tricky part is the neckline, I've found that shirring is WAY easier than trying to make a casing for elastic! This is very cute, of course she is too!!

I just bought a Farbenmix pattern called "Olivia". I've seen lots of these made up, and they seem to have that long "spirally" hoodie look. Here's a link to where I got it. You'll need to scroll down to find it. The part I'm hoping to get that look from is the under dress only.

http://www.sewzannesfabrics.com/p-studiotantrumb.html

I ordered the Ottobre magazine subscription through http://www.woolythread.com/mags.html. Each magazine has 40+ patterns in it. They have to be traced and seam allowance must be added but they are fairly simple designs that are really cute to embellish. The magazine is from Finland so all measurements are metric but I'm adjusting. LOL The leotard and leggings I made for Zoe's Halloween costume were from the one magazine I have so far plus I made her a Fall dress (just need to add buttons and button holes) so I feel like I've already gotten a great deal and have other patterns I really want to try.

You can find the Farbenmix patterns on :wizard: as well as a few online stores. They are from Denmark so I don't think they're widely available in brick & mortar fabric stores. Again, they're metric measurements and the patterns have to be traced with seam allowance added. However, from what I've heard, once you make one of a pattern, it's very quick to do more. I really want to try the Olivia and Anna patterns to start. At about $10 per pattern, though, I can't get as many as I'd like at a time. ;)

That pattern is so cute and definitely has a lot of potential for being embellished or left simple in design but made with a really cute fabric. I've bought some knit prints to use... once I finally buy the pattern. LOL

Thank you. Those patterns are so cute! I may have to try that Olivia pattern or one of the pants patterns. My DD doesn't like skirts and dresses.

Oh those outfits rock i love the NBC. Great job.

Thanks so much! I loved making this one. There's nothing quite like getting compliments on something you created yourself!:)

It seems the Singer kid's machines are just as bad as they used to be. I read through the reviews on amazon and from what I can see DON'T buy a Singer kid's sewing machine! The Hello Kitty one had the best reviews. Actually, it was the only one with good reviews.

I did a search and looked at both. Not much of a Hello Kitty fan, but this machine is made by Janome. That's who my machine is by and I love it. Even though I got the plain ole basic model. I saw a book to on Kids projects. Boy thanks. $60 isn't too bad. This is doable.

:Ooooooohhhhhhhhh! I know who to contact when I'm ready to start digital scrapbooking!!! That's super cute!

:) Hehe, thanks a bunch!! I am just getting into digital scrapbooking! It sure is fun!

 Thank you so much!!!!

This is a great page. So very cute!
:goodvibes Thanks, I had fun making it!!!

LOVE THIS PAGE:love: You did a great job with the journaling and the photos are priceless.
:) Thank you, I love the last picture the best. My DD loves to watch me sew and she was so excited to be "sewing" in Minnie's house! :rotfl2:

 :scared1: Oh no, you didn't just say METRIC did you???? I will never be able to do that. Hahaha. I'M GONNA NEED A "METRIC SEWING FOR DUMMIES" BOOK!!!!
:confused3

WOW!!!! That should be this thread's mandatory picture spot ;)
That's really adorable!

:goodvibes Thanks, I agree, everyone should take pics there!!! It is so cute! My dd just loved it!!

My son asked me what I wanted for Christmas last night. I asked why he was thinking about Christmas already and he said since I work so hard at sewing nice outfits for the two of them, he wanted to get me something super special just for me for Christmas. That's why I sew!
 Oh my gosh that is soo sweet!!! What a little sweetie-pie!

Josephine turned 4 on Halloween! I made her a little birthday outfit for school today. oh made the necklace too! It is sad to make an outfit for one day, but she loved going to school in it today. she gets to have her bday at school today. we did not want to do it on halloween at school.

She is such a little cutie!! Happy Birthday to her!!!! :wizard:

:goodvibes You did awesome on all those costumes. They look darling! I love the little tooth pillow...how cute!!!

I had a little helper picking up stray threads and playing with the spools and ribbon:

100_1943.jpg

:lmao: Hehehe...that is too funny, my little one loves to do the same thing. Stray threads and bobbins everywhere!!! Hahaha

Finally, we are off to Epcot and Liliana is in her minnie dot outfit. We will be looking out for disneymommieof2 and her family.
Hopefully I get good pics of little in her minnie outfit.

Oh and today is our anniversary, I'm so excited, I get an Anniversary button at WDW!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 How lame is that???

...t.

Happy Anniversary Tifani!!! How many years???

I like the pin! I got so sick and tired of seeing so many adults walking around Disney World in may with a "My 1st Visit" pin on, I had to complain to Guest Services! I mean REALLY why should they be rewarded for waiting until they are THIRTY to take their first trip???? :confused3 So, I told the CM that I had been a loyal Disney guest for 38 years, and wason my 31st trip. I argued that THAT is the sort of thing that needs to be celebrated! ( This was all done very jokingly by the way!) The CM said, "Hold on a minute" He came back with a "My 1st Trip" pin and a Sharpie marker. He proceeded to write a 3 in front of the one on the pin, and presented me my very own, "My 31st Trip" pin! :rotfl: I was really glad that I got to talk to a CM that got my humor! I proudly wore that pin the rest of my trip!

Just wanted to say THANKS for all the sweet comments on DD's Hannah concert outfit. We had an amazing time - DD sang every word - and when Hannah or the Jonas Brothers say "get up Seattle" she gets up - LOL - why doesn't that work for me??? Oh - and I wan't the only adult up singing and dancing either!

DSC_1549.jpg

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! WOW!!!! Now, that is just TOO cool! Lydia is very excited to see these pictures!!! You are both adorable!

Everyones costumes look fantastic!!! Hope everyone had a fun night.

I just finished this one, its Tinkerbell & Friends.

th_tinkset2.jpg

There's glitter all over each of the fairies wings & wand on the back leg, glitter on the star.

The jeans say "Faith, Trust,Pixie Dust" with 6 fairies in total.
This is GREAT!!! It looks so pretty!

I had an episiotomy with Tessa. Everyone said I should feel normal within a few weeks. Well, try 1 1/2 years!! Yikes!! :scared1: Thankfully, the episiotomy with Sawyer went smoothly, except for the midwife (or midhusband, it was a guy) in training that sewed me up. OWWWW!!!! There, now we both shared too much!   (I hadn't used the bananas for a while and they were feeling neglected)

Oh, I had forgotten about that! I wanted to just push that guy away and tell him to get away from my sister! That is really NOT the time you want someone to practicing! That guy didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing! (I was at the other end of the bed, by Heather's head, but I could see the confused look on the guy's face, and the midwife kept having to tell him what to do!)

Hey, I confess, I lied to the nurse about going #2 so I could leave the hospital. I still shudder just thinking about it now, three plus years later. And my DH wonders why I think twice about having another baby. He has NO IDEA how bad that hurt. :scared1: Always take your meds on time even if you don't feel like you need them.

Heck, I know that and I still forgot to take anything today, I was feeling fine but boy I've got a heck of a head ache and one set of stitches in my mouth feels really tight. I'll have to take a picture of the bruises, I'm sure anyone who sees me thinks my DH hit me good, I have it on one side and now the other one is starting to come in, it's a lovely shade of dark purple.
When I had my wisdom teeth pulled my face turned green and yellow and was swollen so that I looked like some sort of monster. This was all just before my wedding too! I was so scared that it would be discolored for the wedding! Thankfully, it all went back to normal before the big day!

Too tired to post much, I promise to return to my formerly chatty self ASAP..
But heres a bit of our Epcot Day

Lily's first Kidcot experience...I wish I'd cropped my double chin outta this one

Lily just HAD to get a pic w/ Figment-but she wouldn't stop making THAT face

I also ran into another disboutiquer while we were at Epcot, though it wasn't disneymommieof2. I hate to admit that I didn't know her name, but I had seem the dresses her girls were wearing. That's SO COOL. I also spotted a Dis'er at the Kona Cafe at the table next to us. My family thought I was nuts. I kept looking at her and finally asked if she was a member of the disboards, she looked surprised and said "How did you know that??!!" I told her the "Passporters" and the Crocs gave her away!! How 'bout that, I spotted a Dis'er w/out a hint of lime green!!! I'm good:cool1:

...t.

Lily is so cute! The Minnie outfit looks so cute! It turned out great! Gavin is SOOOOOOOOO handsome!

And, Brian says that you do NOT have a double chin! He then proceeded to show me what a REAL double chin looks like (on himself). :lmao:

Okay I just finished one of my digital scrapbook pages and just had to share it here with you guys!

SewingCollage1copy.jpg
This looks fantastic!!!! So cute!

My mom made me a skunk costume when I was a kid. Actually it was a black cat costume for Halloween and then she added a stripe so I could be a skunk for a school play. We called it Pepe le peu since she added the stripe later.
My favorite dog EVER was named Pepe Le Peu. He was a little black dog with a white stripe down his head. He was such a sweet little dog!

My son asked me what I wanted for Christmas last night. I asked why he was thinking about Christmas already and he said since I work so hard at sewing nice outfits for the two of them, he wanted to get me something super special just for me for Christmas. That's why I sew!

And finally, my favorite photo from our trip:
castleedit.jpg

They are all fantastic outfits!!! (and it sure is nice to see you posting here by the way!) I LOVE this Alice outfit!!!!! And the picture of all three of them is so precious! It would make a nice little avatar!

Since we were stuck at home for 2 days with pink eye, this is how I spent my time:

The ribbon skirt was super easy though!
I hope she is doing better now! Pink eye is not fun!

This outfit turned out really cute! What's the fabric on the top?

I couldn't agree more. My dd6 rather wear my stuff then her bought stuff I wonder how long this will last. She begs me to make her things.

I say enjoy it now, cause it won't last too long. My dd8 loves it until it's time to wear it, then she always makes up an excuse! Dd16 loves the stuff I make her sisters, but I've been given strict orders to not make her anything except pjs & pillowcases!! She loves sketching outfits and helping me plan for her sisters, but she'd never admit it!

What???.... No holiday outfits yet?...;)

I started working on some Holiday things.

Not complete, but I thought I would give you guys a sneak peak!:goodvibes

Detail of stitch treatment on hem of top skirt, and appliqued holly leaves!

Still have button holes, and all those "holly berry" buttons to sew on, and a final clean up of loose threads to snip.

It's too late, time for bed. Hope to finish this and something else tomorrow.

OMG - BEAUTIFUL!!! I just might have to CASE this idea for my upcoming trip. We're spending 5 days at AKL the week before Christmas!!! :santa:

I can't believe I just found this last week. I am only on about page 200(I dont think i will ever get caught up), but I just wanted to go ahead and post and tell you guys how amazing these outfits are. You guys are just awesome!!

I have just started sewing in the last 2 months. I took my mothers sewing machine away from her(she never uses it). So far, I have only done PJ's for my kids for christmas(about 4 pair each) and a couple of skirts for my DD9.

But, I have become addicted to fabric. I must go to hobby lobby if I am near to check their remnants(my nearest HB told me that they do new remnants almost every day, anytime a bolt gets to 3 yards or less, and it is marked 50% off, sometimes much less).

I have so much material and ideas for it in my head, I need to get to sewing more and looking for new fabric less.

I also found the minnie dot at a walmart last night. It was marked $2, so i decided to get all of it. It ended up being about 5 yards, and when she scanned it, it came up 50 cents a yard( I did a tiny happy dance:cool1: ). I have no idea what I am going to do with it. I need ideas for it for my DD9.

Happy sewing

Alisha
