That is super cute, is it the YCMT pattern? I have it and I am wanting to try it!

Sorry guys! I haven't been following the thread much and when I do I normally skim the pictures! I made the turkey, but now I don't know what the original question was, or if you just needed a picture then thanks 2cutekidz.

It was interchangable with velcro. I made it for a lady who wanted birthday overalls and then came up with this idea. I wasn't fond of the pumpkin, but hey, she liked it! For the turkey it is ribbons attached to felt and I stuffed the felt to make it a little more dimensional. Since she wanted it interchangable I decided to go with felt, oh, cardboard is in the middle of the 2 pieces of felt, 2 make it a bit stiffer and stand up.

I am not extremely fond of felt for washing but I did make our NBC shirts out of it and have washed them about 5 times so far with no issues. If you need more details or anything PM me. I look on this board everyday but had been trying to get my house in order!

Thank you for the instructions, that was my main question. I love that turkey. He's going to end up on the bodice of a twirly top or on a pair of overalls, I still haven't decided yet but he will be on something my DD ends up wearing to Thanksgiving dinner.

He's gorgeous and I like the pumpkin too but the turkey is my favorite.

lil_ragamuffins, where oh where did you get those FABULOUS mary janes?! I love them, both the butterfly ones and the red polka dot ones. I feel the need for my DD to have new shoes. (just don't tell my DH... I'll have to post DD's pretty shoe story later.)

And I have to say that the picture of your kids walking toward Sleeping Beauty's castle just made me cry, they are so precious...

They're both Puddle Jumpers. You can get the red & white dots at sweetsoles.com. Unfortunately, the black and white ones have been discontinued.

Hi everyone. Quick question. I was at Walmart yesterday and got the Singer Advance. I'm starting to have second thoughts. Should I keep it or get the Brother 6000 that some people have and love or should I get the Singer from Target? I tried to find some reviews on it but not luck. Oh I got it on clearance for 134. Normally 179. Here's the wierd thing the other ones weren't marked down. What do you guys think. I don't want to take it out of the box yet just in case. Thanks

Okay , I appreciate being "ho'ed" (there has got to be a comment here about being ho'ed) and I forwarded it on to some people BUT where is the love for Thanksgiving? I really want to start with Thanksgiving first! Does anyone have a bouncing turkey, or a pilgrim hat on Mickeys head we can do first???

Since we were stuck at home for 2 days with pink eye, this is how I spent my time:

I had a little helper picking up stray threads and playing with the spools and ribbon:

Can I tell you how much I am ready for her to go back to school?

100_1946.jpg

I used simplicity 3680. I wasn't really happy with how big it is around the neck. I should have made it longer and the tie higher but I was just playing around. I think I am going to try the YMCT peasant top next. I just can't find the perfect one!

The ribbon skirt was super easy though!

If you intend to do this, I'd say get the Brother. I don't even know the Singer Esteem machine - I know that others have it and love it. I just LOVE my Brother. It's a great machine!

I've got the Brother one from Costco and love it too!

okay a few pics from last night..

Wish they were bigger! Looks like you're having a great time though! I love all of the costumes too. Is your dress the one you were going to remake? It looks fantastic! If you walked around in your heels all night, you are my IDOL!

Right click on and save this Turkey and upload it to photobucket. Add it to your siggie like you would a picture!! That's so much better, poor Thanksgiving kinda gets overlooked!!

Ok, let's vote tnmom in charge of the disney scrap exchange! Let's ask her how to go about this.....;) (just kidding) I would be happy to do it, but we need a plan, which I'm not the greatest at.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the "givens" to the equation:
1. Bunch of Disboutique(e)rs who live all over the USA, and some beyond. by bunch, I mean X amount, to be exact. :thumbsup2
2. Each of us has a bunch of scraps that would make a groovy Disney quilt, if only we had a big ol' selection of different characters/fabrics.
3. Need a easy, inexpensive way to pass them to everyone in a fair manner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What if we:

1.sign up so we have a list of participants

1 1/2.sign up what fabric we have to donate x the amount of participants, so there's no duplicates

2. send the fabric that is cut into equal pieces (but not in precise squares) to a trusted and belove-ed thread member liiiiiiiiike, Theresa or Heather etc. :rolleyes1

3. that trusted person divvies it all up and sends it to the participants.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Possible bad things and glitches
:
1.Late comers would add expense of mailing if the trusted person already divvied up the fabric and sent it to all the participants.
Possible solution: Have a deadline and stick to it
2.Duplicate fabrics
Possible Solution: put in what fabric you want to use when signing up
3. Newbies feeling left out
Possible solution: Send extra? Do again next year?
4. Too many of one kind, like ALL princesses no general Disney
Possible solution: ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is anyone interested? Any tips? Thoughts?

Love the idea of this! Count me in, I always but too much fabric but not all of it is Disney though...

A thread was started earlier in the week here's a link. The guidelines and updated groups are on page 7. There are over a dozen groups - some are already full, and we've added groups since we started. There are groups that are not Disney specific. Here's a link:

See you over there!!

We went to the pumpkin patch last week-end. I know, I know I think I violated some sort of time rule by not posting pics fast enough, but I've actually been sewing this week. :goodvibes Anyway, here they are.

This one is actually from the school trip. Yes, we went on Thursday with the school & then to a different patch Saturday as a family. I know we're a little nuts, but there were much better pics ops at the second one. :rolleyes1

Cute outfits! Did you make the Little Einstein ones too? Great applique job!

Hi Everyone!
We just got back from our too short vacation! Now it's time to plan the next one!
Here are a couple of photos. We did Epcot, MK for MNNSHP, and MGM.
The weather was iffy at best all weekend. Yesterday it actually rained all day. Just a drizzle but we were damp all day..Yuck
Anywho, here are a few pictures...

That is our MNNSHP day. Notice our decorated window in the back.

This is in the morning before we left for Epcot.
th_285923549.jpg

And this is our hotel hopping day. We spent one day, just exploring the other hotels. And we found that we actually Don't Like the Grand Floridian...LOL.
I guess I just saved myself thousands of dollars...LOL
I will post more pictures soon. We all had a great time.

Love your girls outfits! They are so cute! The waitress costume is hilarious!

ETA: I did a search for "Kid's sewing machine" on amazon.com and they have ALL sorts of kid's sewing machines. I guess I never knew these existed anymore!

Hey, look what I saw in the Lillian Vernon catalog yesterday!! It's also on lillianvernon.com These would make the cutest gifts for our kids (ages 8 and up). Too bad Tessa's a little young for these!

th_020121.jpg

It's $39.98 and here's what it says about it:
The perfect "first" real sewing machine by White handles grown-up chores, too! Made to last with tough plastic exterior, 7 all-metal gears. Large space for guiding fabrics. Locking straight stitch for sewing projects, repairs. Threaded and ready to use, has built-in bobbin winder, foot pedal, 4 metal bobbins (3 with white thread, 1 with black), removable spool holder, how-to's. 4 "AA" batteries are not included, but AC adapter is. Lightweight mini, 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 8 3/4" high. Ages 8 and up, adult supervision suggested.

After I saw that, I looked at target.com and they have this:
th_41EWC5TG3SL__SS260_.jpg

This one is pricier at $59.99.
• Great first sewing machine for budding dressmakers
• Features drop-in bobbin, easy lay-in threading and 3 stitch types: straight, zigzag and reverse
• 4-point feed system keeps fabric straight and flat as you sew
• Made of high-impact ABS for extra durability
• 9Hx5Wx11.25L"

My DD4 has seen these at Target and has decided that is what she wants for Christmas. Now what do I do? I totally think she is too young for one but that is what she says she wants (for right now anyway, maybe I'll get lucky and she'll forget!). She does sit and watch me sew the whole time but she's just 4! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Do they make one for younger kids?
And so the paranoia sets in..... :lmao:

I could use a favor from my boutique friends if it's ok to ask??

As you all know I am gonna be a grandma for the first time in January! :banana: We are all really excited about it here, but yesterday DD called to tell me she was in the hospital. She had been sick all day long and was not able to keep anything down and was dehydrated and just plain run down from this thing! Anyway.... they gave her an IV and hooked her up to a monitor- after which they saw that she was experiencing contractions all the while she was in the hospital! :scared1: NOT GOOD!!! Well, they gave her shot to stop the contractions, and it seems to have worked (although she did continue to have them last night). BUT, I'm just wondering if you all would just remember Alissa in your prayers today? Every little prayer helps.... and we just want to make sure this little guy has every bit of help he can get!

Thanks all!!

Prayers are being sent her way right now! I know how scary that is. When this happened to me they said that being dehydrated can cause the contractions so maybe once she is good and hydrated they'll stop? Hopefully that will be the case! I got a couple of bags of saline and felt much better.
