Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 5

Your husband is much better than mine! Mine would have a fit with 15 pairs of shoes! Yikes!

I am also picky about what my girls wear and I also take the time to make sure that I really like the outfit, not just because it's cheap or on sale. Love Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Mini Boden, and all of the boutique brands. To keep my costs in check I do ebay everything every season so I can replenish their closets! I sell last years spring stuff in late winter/early spring and last years winter stuff late summer/early fall. I have just had the nice clothes thing backfire on me though and I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. My oldest is 4 and goes to preschool 3 days a week. I always dress her nicely and she is picky about her clothes and likes to look nice too. She will wear jeans but prefers to wear a "dressy" outfit according to her. On the last day of school before Christmas break another mom stopped me and said that her daughter is jealous of mine because of her clothes. She also said that Grace (my oldest) gets too much attention and should be put in time out. Her mom wasn't upset about this and thought it was funny. I'm not upset either but I don't want her being picked on because of her clothes. I did ask to make sure that Grace was being nice to everyone and she said yes, it's just jealousy over clothes. Do you think I should worry or leave it alone? I guess I'm probably not going to change how I dress them but I don't want to make them social outcasts in school either!

This is a tough call. But my answer still remains the same - my daughter will dress nicely! We both enjoy it too much! I'm sorry if others are jealous, but I've taught her to graciously say "thank you!" when others comment on how cute she is. It's a shame that others try to make you feel guilty because you enjoy dressing your daughter nicely.

This thread has caused me to wonder - there have been many mentions of Gymbo lately (my absolute fave next to customs). Are any of you guys Rebels? (as in gymborebel?)

So many great outfits lately! Thanks for sharing! Here are a couple of things my DD is going to wear on our special, "Mommy and Me" trip. We leave the 30th of this month!!!

Sorry so many!

These are ALL great! So much inspiration here!

Love the Disneyland pics. I really need to make a trip out to CA some time to walk in the park that Walt did!

I just finished a storybook dress.
Leighanna said that she liked it. In fact, she said "gorgeous Daddy!" :rotfl:
sb1003.jpg

Totally Frankened pattern!

Notice the lack of WHITE in the dress!;)
Okay, stop showing off! This is FANTASTIC, as usual! Can't wait to see pics of her wearing it!

I just couldn't let a sleepin' dog lie, could I? See what you girls have done to me, I'm truly OCDBD (Obsessive Compulsive DisBoutique Disorder)!!!;) While we were racing around post holiday stress, getting ready for the Playhouse Disney Live Tour, I couldn't just take the kids in regular clothes! Although these don't classify as "customs" by far (I transfered a design from the DIS boards, I think Amy M_I_C_K_E_Y did these?)......
PlayhouseDisBros.jpg

This is Ds(6) he is making our family non-ASL (American Sign Language) sign for Mickey (hands in fists, near top of head).....
MickeySigns.jpg

I could write a book about all our adventures around here, but long story some what short.....On the way to the show we had to stop at Walshmart to get a new set of Marksmen ears for Ds(6). (He's sound defensive with his Autism & these babies really help cut the clutter noise for him to focus) When I was rounding the parking lot lap one more time, waiting for DH to come out...Ds(3) all of sudden says "Mommy, I don't feel good...O, Mommy, I really don't feel good" I ask "Is your tummy hurting?" ds(3)"yesss.....I need a towel" (red flag in our house-chunks are gonna blow! Don't ask why, but they won't throw up in the toilet or a wastebasket, just a towel or my shirt!)
So I'm driving, turning a corner & hurling my coat behind my head to ds....as he's beginning to gag! I'm nervously trying to find a place to pull over. He vomits all over his newly handmade shirt, my coat & all over the car seat! Poor baby! Gross!

After, I'm quickly stripping his behind & mopping up the mess-I call DH & tell him "bring out a 4T set of jeans & shirt with ya". So, ds(3) actually got an official Playhouse Disney shirt from Wally of all places! It glows in the dark & looks like a little Rock concert shirt, it's cool! Ds(6) cried because he thought we weren't going & was worried about his brother. Ds(3) seemed fine after feeding the birds the puke from his car seat...so, we were on our way!!!

Our seats were awesome, 3 rows from the stage, front center! We were thrilled!!!
TourFamily.jpg

It's really a cute show & the boys had a blast! Ds(6) thought it was like Playouse Disney at DL & wanted to turn around & see "the next show". It took us a day or so to get thru that the "Tour was over & they were going on vacation now. Probably to Disney World in FL". Well, now they want to do the world!! Look out folks!
Here's post show happy, happy boys (the best Christmas present we could dream of for them!).....

GROSS! But glad you guys made it and had so much fun! Your boys are really adorable!

Why would any parent tell you that! How RUDE! I think some people are just jealous, petty people. There is really nothing you can do about it! My 4yo goes to a private christian school that does not allow pants, so she has to wear a dress or skirt everyday! She is very picky about what she wears and likes to look nice! My husband says I have ruined her, because she is so picky about her clothes, but I don't know what is wrong with wanting to look nice? Doesn't everyone?

Sorry so many!
These are all FANTASTIC, but my fave is the pink and black mickey! Is that the ycmt.com pattern? I have been deliberating over this and the Tess pattern for a week now! I just hate to spend that much for one pattern! I keep thinking that $15 could buy a pack of diapers!

I am a huge Gymbo fan!

If the girls are not wearing customs or smocked dresses my girls are in Gymboree. I actually consider Gymbo play clothes. I know they are more expensive but they hold up really well.

I get a lot of crap from my Dad's girlfriends family. My DD's always look nice. It does not mean I spend a ton of money on each outfit though. It really bothered me for the longest time. I have just decided it is their problem and not mine. Yes, I do spend a good bit of money on my girls clothes but guess what they are mine to dress!!!

Here is the really funny thing about the one nasty fake stepsister. She always has something to say about my kids clothes. She is $42,000 in credit card debt and declaring bankruptcy. It does not include her house, cars or $10,000 jet skit and none of that is from education either! She just buys crap and then has the nerve to say things to me about my girls clothes or my bags. I do not use credit cards so . . . if I do not have the money I do not buy it!

When I buy them clothes I mostly but gymbo on sale. I use my gym bucks or F&F coupons or I just wait until it goes on sale! I normally but a complete outfit and another piece so there are two looks. I also get the hair stuff.
In my girls closets I have everything hung up by outfit. So the whole look is there. All you have to do is grab it.

I know that my girls have a lot of clothes. They would look cute in a pillowcase. (But we all know you can make a cute dress from those.:) ) For me it is important to teach my girls that presenting yourself in the best light is important. I would never teach them that a Target bag is not as good as a Coach or someone is poor because they cannot shop at LTD2. (Thank God DD has not discovered that store!) I am not teaching them to be materialistic but I am teaching them first impressions count!

Lori I posted on your trippie but again, the outfits look terrific!!! :thumbsup2 I love your little DS expressions and adorable blond curls!

ahhh thank you. He is a cutie that one, I think we will keep him :rotfl:

Oh my! WOW! All of their outfits are FANTASTIC and your kids are sooo ADORABLE!

thank you so much we had a great time planning and going on the trip.

ALL of your outfits are wonderful! And, as always, LOVE pics from the World (or the Land)!!!!!!

Thank you so much! We just enjoy the land and ca't wait to go back in April!

I could have almost written your post word for word, except I have boys!! My boys are dressed nicely even to go to the grocery store. I have a gymboree addiction, but at least they now have their Crazy 8 line. I buy a lot of that for play clothes now.
I also love Mini Boden, but their boy stuff is just awesome! It's hard not to pass it up!

I figure they are mine to dress and I can dress them however I like. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It really pisses me off when people make comments on how much stuff I buy them. I say they are only little once and I won't be able to do it forever. To find cute boys clothes is hard and of course I end up spending a fortune, but I do try to wait until gymbo goes on sale or when it's gymbucks time. I try to dress them alike most days or at least coordinate them. :rolleyes1

I would be in big trouble if I had a girl!!!

This is usually the way I keep the boys dressed! Sorry there are so many!! The way people dress their kids is a topic I definitely love to add my input too!! LOL!!! I could actually keep on posting!!! LOL! I have a zillion pictures.

My girls having matching jammies too! LOL

This is how my boys would dress if I had boys. They look adorable and you are so right it does not last forever!

My DH and I have been together since highschool. It is funny some of the stuff he would wear because it was cool! His poor Mom. I thought he walked on water though. He was a skater, bmxer, drummer. His hair was longer than mine. LOL!!! Well the part that was not shaved was longer.

Someone at work commented the other day he had earing scars. He said didn't you ever do anything stupid in college! He had both ears pierced with the little hoop and balls. He was so cute.

How weird!!!! My DH and I are highschool sweethearts too!!! and when I met him he had little hoop and ball earrings too and his tongue was pierced. He wasn't a skater, but he does play the drums. And his hair is almost as long as mine now! LOL!!

His hair is a little longer than it is in this picture. This was over the summer so it has grown out some more.

Do you mind asking when you graduated from HS? We were 1997. Brett wanted to get his tongue done but . . . this is funny . . . he bit a tiny hole in it eating a bagel and had to get a stitich. He said it hurt so bad he could never pierce it!

My DH would love to still play. He can't because our home owners association would have a fit. He is actually going to sell the drums. I just hope he does before WDW! I am terrible.

He actually graduated in 1995 and I graduated in 1997. We started dating in April of 95. And we were married in Sept. 2001.
My DH sold his last drum set when I got pregnant with my 2 year old, b/c we needed the space for another bedroom. But then we closed in our garage into a playroom a year ago, so he just bought another drum set. My boys are actually loving it, so I don't mind it.

Wow!

We started dating in 1994 and were married July of 2001. Our girls were born in March of 2004 and July of 2006.

That is what I told my DH. One day he can just get a nice new set. He had those since he was like 13 so I think he can upgrade them. He said he spent his life savings on those drums. I sort of feel bad but not really. :rolleyes1

THat is so neat. Our boys were born Feb.2003 and Nov.2005. We are planning to have one more and will start trying in July/Aug.2008.

Isn't there a rule about no apologizing! I love looking, so there is never too many! These are my favorites: I love the little matching hat! Was it hard to do? And that black and white fabric (ironworks by Michael Miller?) is so cute with the hot pink. And did you do that Cinderella? It looks great! You need to make some matching shirts for you now!

You are very nice to compliment! I bought 2 of the outfits here as resells from another Dis-er here...her dd wore them first, HL Auburn. The Cinderella top was created by Dena. The only thing I made was the button socks, and the lavender tulle skirt. It is huge! I used almost the whole mini bolt, and it is ankle lenght. It is stunning in person, but did not photo graph well!

Brightvalley - we have both of those striped gymbo sweaters too! I love the brown one so much that we have it in a 5T and then size 8 too!

The boys are darling in all those pictures. For the most part that is how we dress on a daily basis but just not gymbo much.

WOW!!

I'm usually just lurking here, but I do try to keep up with all the posts. Well after being gone for a week, I'm finally caught up. Y'all have posted some great outfits!! I love all the Cinderella variations.

Here's why I've been away... and the reason I have been stocking up on Disney fabric since finding this board... my little princess is a week old today!

My DDs are the same. They like to wear dresses and look nice. Some of the girls in their classes have acted jealous over their clothes. Now, my DDs are 6 and 9. This is going to happen when kids get in school. Some moms just don't make dressing their children a priority. I don't mean this in a snobby way....:lmao: I am a teacher, and being in the schools you see some children dressed nice, and some that look as if they just rolled out of bed without brushing their hair. So, some girls just get jealous, especially if they come from a home where their parents don't give them enough attention to bother with their appearance. That said, I want my children to take pride in themselves, and to know you don't go to school looking like you rolled out of bed. I think this teaches them responsibility to themselves, you can't go to most jobs without a least brushing your hair, and I want them to feel good about themselves. I know when I look nice, I feel good about myself. You just need to teach your kids to be gracious to complements, and ignore jealousy. Easier said than done, I know, but kids can be cruel, and it is hard to deal with, especially once they are in school, and you are not with them to defend them.

My daughter goes to a public school, and recently the teacher asked me to only dress my DD in "regular" clothes. Not custom stuff. I was very upset. The teacher said that my dd gets too much attention when she wears boutique style clothes. I told her too bad!! She isn't dressed over the top. She has never worn a petti to school or huge hairbows. Just jean outfits with cute tops, the most outrageous thing she's worn is a fur cuffed tee. I told her as long as she isn't breaking the dress code, she will wear whatever I want her to wear. I've seen how the other children dress and it's a shame. Messy hair, spaghetti strap tops, flip flops and shorts that I would have thrown away a long time ago.
I know some of the parents don't have a lot of money, but it's free to clean your child and comb their hair. It's a shame how some little one's get overlooked when it comes to simple things like that.

Wow, I know what I would have said to that teacher:rolleyes1 . My DD goes to a school with uniforms. She is always sent to school neat and clean and well covered. Even with the "uniform" rule I have see other children in the school NOT dressed "nicely". I have seen kids in shorts so short the front pockets hang below the hem of the shorts :scared1:, jeans, ill fitting clothes ahh the list goes on. And the hair! OY!!!!!! I visited her classroom recently and was SHOCKED by the girls with long hair that had not even been combed (never mind a cute boutique bow LOL).
