Lori

ALL of your outfits are wonderful! And, as always, LOVE pics from the World (or the Land)!!!!!!

Love the Disneyland pics. I really need to make a trip out to CA some time to walk in the park that Walt did!

I just finished a storybook dress.
Leighanna said that she liked it. In fact, she said "gorgeous Daddy!" :rotfl:

Totally Frankened pattern!

Notice the lack of WHITE in the dress!;)

I just couldn't let a sleepin' dog lie, could I? See what you girls have done to me, I'm truly OCDBD (Obsessive Compulsive DisBoutique Disorder)!!!;) While we were racing around post holiday stress, getting ready for the Playhouse Disney Live Tour, I couldn't just take the kids in regular clothes! Although these don't classify as "customs" by far (I transfered a design from the DIS boards, I think Amy M_I_C_K_E_Y did these?)......

This is Ds(6) he is making our family non-ASL (American Sign Language) sign for Mickey (hands in fists, near top of head).....

I could write a book about all our adventures around here, but long story some what short.....On the way to the show we had to stop at Walshmart to get a new set of Marksmen ears for Ds(6). (He's sound defensive with his Autism & these babies really help cut the clutter noise for him to focus) When I was rounding the parking lot lap one more time, waiting for DH to come out...Ds(3) all of sudden says "Mommy, I don't feel good...O, Mommy, I really don't feel good" I ask "Is your tummy hurting?" ds(3)"yesss.....I need a towel" (red flag in our house-chunks are gonna blow! Don't ask why, but they won't throw up in the toilet or a wastebasket, just a towel or my shirt!)
So I'm driving, turning a corner & hurling my coat behind my head to ds....as he's beginning to gag! I'm nervously trying to find a place to pull over. He vomits all over his newly handmade shirt, my coat & all over the car seat! Poor baby! Gross!

After, I'm quickly stripping his behind & mopping up the mess-I call DH & tell him "bring out a 4T set of jeans & shirt with ya". So, ds(3) actually got an official Playhouse Disney shirt from Wally of all places! It glows in the dark & looks like a little Rock concert shirt, it's cool! Ds(6) cried because he thought we weren't going & was worried about his brother. Ds(3) seemed fine after feeding the birds the puke from his car seat...so, we were on our way!!!

Our seats were awesome, 3 rows from the stage, front center! We were thrilled!!!
TourFamily.jpg

It's really a cute show & the boys had a blast! Ds(6) thought it was like Playouse Disney at DL & wanted to turn around & see "the next show". It took us a day or so to get thru that the "Tour was over & they were going on vacation now. Probably to Disney World in FL". Well, now they want to do the world!! Look out folks!
Here's post show happy, happy boys (the best Christmas present we could dream of for them!).....

I need machine help!!!! Anyone out there have the Brother CS6000? I'm trying to applique, and it's working, but I'm having trouble with the needle moving way off when I switch from straight stitch to zigzag... any suggestions?

I love watching your videos and seeing Dallas in "action"! Dallas is even cuter in motion, if that's possible! It seems like we have the same opinions on car seats!! I didn't get in 75 reviews last month, only 22. But, I was up on New Year's Eve uploading stuff too! I am going to check out Shared Review, thanks!
I know! He is adorable! I love the one of him in the Transformers review where he "had to tell us something"! That was adorable, even if you couldn't really see him!

I love "gangsta Scrappy"! :rotfl2: Too funny! I think he needs some bling- wanna borrow my necklace?
Do you think Megan or Jacob could teach him to cross his little paws and say, "Word"??? Or, maybe we could swing by in May and Arminda could teach him!
People with a crabby 18 month old leave the party at 10:00! Sarah said that last year 1 couple stayed until midnight and she and DH were just about falling asleep. Sorry I didn't go by your house!
:snooty:

Hi everyone, remember me?!
Just wanted to pop in and say Happy New Year! I miss all of you.

I am nearly ready to come back. Dh and I have definitely decided no more kids and are planning on a Dec WDW trip. Would like to do some Christmas customs for my little guy. Will he be too old, do you think? He will be just over 3.
Anyone have any luck making appliques and stitching them on later?

He has also just discovered a new love, Thomas and friends, you know that train show? I may have to check and see if anyone has made any of those.

Of course we remember you!

To answer you other question, let's just say that Heather is making a custom for Corey to wear in May, and he will be almost SIXTEEN!!!!! :rotfl2: So, nope, I don't think three is too old!!!

Wanted to post a Valentine's set I did for my DD. Not a lot of ruffles and bows here - she'll wear this to preschool, so I was going for comfy!

VERY VERY cute!!!! I love it!

Teresa just made reservations for our party of 15 last week! I'm so excited!! We're going to go to BBB first and then 1900 Park Fare.

Everyone is getting VERY excited about this!!! I was telling my neices today (including Tessa) that the stepsisters don't act nice at the supper. They just looked at me like they couldn't belive it! Like, why in the world would we eat with someone who wasn't nice????? I told that them they were just funny, but I don't think any of them were quite sure about it!

I was thinking the same thing about dancing with Beast- :scared1:
I KNEW you would understand!!!
I don't remember the last time we had this much snow! Sawyer played outside in the snow for the first time yesterday- for about 2 minutes. His gloves kept falling off, so we had to come in. I'm going to post pictures eventually!
Crazy isn't it!! It just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing and snowing!!!! I heard that we got about 2 feet since Monday night!! It's suppose to rain Sunday and get up into the high 40's by Monday, so this should be a great big muddy mess by then!

No pics this time. We only have an inch or so of snow. Nothing too exciting. But that's fine with me! Where's summer?

I love summer. :cloud9:

Anyone else having problems seeing pics? I'm not seeing Tom's at all (red x's). It sounds like others can see it - is it just me?

First of all - GROSS! So sorry that had to happen!
Secondly - so glad you had a great time in spite of the rough start! Sounds like a great show!
Thirdly - I technically think that using a Disign DOES qualify as a custom. You DID have to alter a garment to customize it, so it is a custom - right? That's what I think anyway!

Hey all! I have a Tutu question for you all. I have a new little one and she has a ballet outfit I bought her and I remembered I had some tulle in the top of the closets so I threw her one together. No biggie. But she loves it and wears it a lot. After she has worn it a while it looks all funky. Is there anything that can be done to keep this from happening? Or do I just accept that it is going to look crumpled most of the time?

This is what I do when we travel with tutus (I put them in a huge ziploc bag and squeeze the air out so they're all crumpled when we arrive). I just take a hairdryer and blast it with hot air. You don't wanna get it to close, or hold it in one place for too long, but I just kinda run my fingers through the tulle, and blow it at the same time. It fluffs it right back up!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the kind comments about my Valentine's set! You guys are inspiring to keep sewing!

Well maybe not 1000! Two for each day. My girls are really funny about being clean. It is a good thing though. We are going for nine days. So that is 18 x 2outfits. Add a couple of gowns for special dinners too. I expect to bring about 40 outfits for my girls. My older DD likes to coordinate with her younger sister so I keep that in mind. It also makes for good pictures.

During our last trip they wore everything. DD even picked out 15 pairs of shoes for both of them and they wore them all. My DH does not care just as long as we use what we bring. He is also really big on not buying clothes on vacation. We had to do that once and he was not happy! I also feel I am on vaca and I am not doing laundry. The washer and I have a date when we get home.

I am really picky about what the girls wear now. I never buy stuff just because it is on sale. I try to buy whole outfits/looks. My older DD hardly ever wears pants. She is a dress girl. I feel that I am smart about shopping. I wait at Gymbo until it goes on sale. Above all my girls take really good care of their clothes. I dress DD really nice for school and I know her teachers are more careful about keeping her clean. It works out just fine!

This is all a surprise birthday trip so I am happy to sew away. I am thrilled because my DH just gave a December trip the green light and I get to bring my Mom. We are going to have so much fun.

Your husband is much better than mine! Mine would have a fit with 15 pairs of shoes! Yikes!

I am also picky about what my girls wear and I also take the time to make sure that I really like the outfit, not just because it's cheap or on sale. Love Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Mini Boden, and all of the boutique brands. To keep my costs in check I do ebay everything every season so I can replenish their closets! I sell last years spring stuff in late winter/early spring and last years winter stuff late summer/early fall. I have just had the nice clothes thing backfire on me though and I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. My oldest is 4 and goes to preschool 3 days a week. I always dress her nicely and she is picky about her clothes and likes to look nice too. She will wear jeans but prefers to wear a "dressy" outfit according to her. On the last day of school before Christmas break another mom stopped me and said that her daughter is jealous of mine because of her clothes. She also said that Grace (my oldest) gets too much attention and should be put in time out. Her mom wasn't upset about this and thought it was funny. I'm not upset either but I don't want her being picked on because of her clothes. I did ask to make sure that Grace was being nice to everyone and she said yes, it's just jealousy over clothes. Do you think I should worry or leave it alone? I guess I'm probably not going to change how I dress them but I don't want to make them social outcasts in school either!

why did that double post! SO SOrry!

Love it Lori! That Ariel peasant top is really cute!!

Thanks for letting me know GloriB did the Marie. That is so cute! I will have to pm her about it. Does anyone know when the DVD comes out? That would be a fun Vday present. The movie and a cute outfit to match. :)
The fabric she used is from Ebay, it's a Japanese fabric. Lydia loved that outfit so much she hugged my laptop!!!! And, Lori was so sweet and wonderful and nice that she sent me the rest that she had. I was just blown away with her generosity!!!   Now, I just need to decide what I'm going to make with it!!! I'm leaning towards a skirt, or something else that I don't actually have to cut the fabric so I can use it again! Or, maybe I'll just totaly CASE lori's adorable top! It is even CUTER in person than it looks in the pictures, it has a linen like look to it, and it's a nice thickness. I hope you find some too! I would love to see what you do with it!

Fantastic Tom!!! I love that! My sister-in-law keeps bugging me to make a trip out to California to see her someday, instead of going to Florida. I would love to go to Disney Land someday, so I may have to take her up on that offer (demand).

You and your family are SOOOOO cute!!! I love the customs! And, I'm glad you made it to the show after you adventure!

On the last day of school before Christmas break another mom stopped me and said that her daughter is jealous of mine because of her clothes. She also said that Grace (my oldest) gets too much attention and should be put in time out. Her mom wasn't upset about this and thought it was funny. My DDs are the same. They like to wear dresses and look nice. Some of the girls in their classes have acted jealous over their clothes. Now, my DDs are 6 and 9. This is going to happen when kids get in school. Some moms just don't make dressing their children a priority. I don't mean this in a snobby way....:lmao: I am a teacher, and being in the schools you see some children dressed nice, and some that look as if they just rolled out of bed without brushing their hair. So, some girls just get jealous, especially if they come from a home where their parents don't give them enough attention to bother with their appearance. That said, I want my children to take pride in themselves, and to know you don't go to school looking like you rolled out of bed. I think this teaches them responsibility to themselves, you can't go to most jobs without a least brushing your hair, and I want them to feel good about themselves. I know when I look nice, I feel good about myself. You just need to teach your kids to be gracious to complements, and ignore jealousy. Easier said than done, I know, but kids can be cruel, and it is hard to deal with, especially once they are in school, and you are not with them to defend them.

I will admit I have like 20 yards of Minnie Dot. (Walmart) I bought a whole bolt once and then a couple yards here and there. I have it all nice and wrapped up for someday.

Here is the crazy part . . . We are going in March. I have 1000 customs planned. . . not one with Minnie Dot! LOL

Wow, lucky girl! I have never been able to get my hands on one yard and I have probably 7 walmarts within 45 miles! DH also works there and looks for me all the time!

Yep, washed. Actually more than once! The first part (the big mickey on the bib) refused to stick at all. I am wondering if I ironed too much. I actually redid the heat and bond and put more on the back. The second time around it was fine. I forgot that I am going to hand stitch. I'm CASE'ing a custom I bought off ebay and that is what she did. No clue what I'm doing but I'm going to give it a shot!

I have had some where it didn't stick well either. I am thinking that it was older heat n bond lite. I have also had some that only sticks to itself and you cannot get the darn stuff opened up to use. I heard that it is from the warehouse storage probably (since it was new to me), too much humidity.

I just couldn't let a sleepin' dog lie, could I? Those shirts are customs and cute! I am glad you made it and had a good time. What a mess to deal with!

I need machine help!!!! Anyone out there have the Brother CS6000? I'm trying to applique, and it's working, but I'm having trouble with the needle moving way off when I switch from straight stitch to zigzag... any suggestions?

I am not positive since I don't have your machine but on mine there are different settings for where I want the needle to be. Right, middle and left. You might see if that is it. Sorry I am not of more help.

I know! He is adorable! I love the one of him in the Transformers review where he "had to tell us something"! That was adorable, even if you couldn't really see him!

Thanks! We used to do alot more with him in them, but I was afraid they would get rejected and started redoing them without him, even the other day DH originally had him in the transformer one talking about it. It is like he doesn't know when to stop and just be quiet though.

I am also picky about what my girls wear and I also take the time to make sure that I really like the outfit, not just because it's cheap or on sale. This is odd, I have heard several stories about this type of behavior in the last 6 months or so and we are talking YOUNG kids, preschool to 1st are the stories I am hearing. I never imagined that at that young kids could be so judgmental about others and what they wear. It is shame for all. I can totally see now why public schools are going to uniforms. I don't care for that idea at all but it really seem to be affecting their learning if they are worried about others.

I couldn't tell you a hanna anderson outfit from an old navy outfit, but as long as the child was dressed nice and clean (as in clothes, hair, teeth, etc) it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me!

So many great outfits lately! Thanks for sharing! Here are a couple of things my DD is going to wear on our special, "Mommy and Me" trip. We leave the 30th of this month!!!

Sorry so many!

Cute cute cute! I love seeing them in Disney! They looked like they had a great time!

LOL about the white! It looks beautiful. I am still working on the nightgowns that took you about an hour. So far I have put about three hours in and I haven't finished the first one yet!

What a sweet family! Does your youngest get carsick? My oldest does and we always know when he starts saying, it's really hot in here. Then we know the clock is ticking until we have to pull over and puke! Glad you made the show after that: it looked like a great time!

Do you think Megan or Jacob could teach him to cross his little paws and say, "Word"??? Or, maybe we could swing by in May and Arminda could teach him!

I definitely think Scrappy could use some help with that! You know he doesn't follow direction very well!

I am also picky about what my girls wear and I also take the time to make sure that I really like the outfit, not just because it's cheap or on sale. I don't understand. Why should your daughter be in time out because other kids are jealous of her? That doesn't make any sense. Parents are so weird.

Megan dressed in play clothes (usually from Target) when she went to preschool because they played outside on the playground every day and did a lot of messy projects. There were some girls who wore dressy clothes and sandals that made me wonder how they ran around outside, but Megan is the type of kid who doesn't care. I can't imagine coming up to a parent and complaining about how their child is dressed, especially that it's too nice!

I do admit that M's kindergarten teacher is a sewer and appreciates the customs I made. She really made me smile when she told me after Thanksgiving she couldn't wait to see what I made her for Christmas! :lovestruc

Isn't there a rule about no apologizing! I love looking, so there is never too many! These are my favorites: I love the little matching hat! Was it hard to do? And that black and white fabric (ironworks by Michael Miller?) is so cute with the hot pink. And did you do that Cinderella? It looks great! You need to make some matching shirts for you now!
