HI - GREAT bows!! I was wondering, is every piece of ribbon attached to a loopy part, or do you add in some extra strips of ribbon to make some of those flat parts?

Do you make your own bows for her? What kind of clip stays in her hair? I just love bows. When she was an infant/toddler I bought her these stretchy bands and huge huge bows on voldemart...they were adorable....

I see you are staying at POR in Jan...I LOVE THAT PLACE!!! Our favorite resort ever...even over the deluxes...the grounds are so pretty. But now that I invested in DVC, rarely stay there. I have to stay there on a week end next time I go. I love the food court there also...we ate there in Sept when we were there...

I usually make her bows, sometimes I buy them. I have found these simple plastic hairclips that work the best, they are quick and easy to put in her hair and never fall out because they are trapped by the ponytail. They are exactly like the ones Gymboree uses with their little korker ribbons. I will try to take some photos for you tomorrow. It is DSs birthday and we are on our way to dinner. You can also take the bows off of the stretcy bands and glue them onto clips and recycle them. Thanks for the info on POR. I am so excited! We've only been to Disneyworld once before and have not even seen any resorts other than the one we stayed in and a brief one-night stay at ASMu. We just chose POR because it would sleep 5+baby and it looked fun.

Oh we "snuck" over to our neighbors pool, one full moon several summers ago and they came home early!!! One of the best/funniest times of our lives!!! Two "chubby" naked heinies running across a yard. If we were seen, people would never have recovered from laughing!!

JHAM and SAHM1000, thanks so much!! for the directions on the layer skirt. Between the two of you I have the instructions and I will try either plain fabric or if I am adventurous I'll try the tulle too. My DD7 wants to be a pirate at Halloween so I will use red,black and the tulle. I thought it could do double duty for WDW too. This will be my next project.

I am finishing off a new nightgown cum housecost looking item for Friday's Pyjama Day at School. It was also a challenge as I am making it out of a long hair shag-type material that is supersoft but difficult to see what you are sewing..oh well it also hides the mistakes as a result. We live in a cold area so it should be fine for Friday weather.

My daughter had her 15mo. check up today and I showed the Dr. a little bulge she has in her tummy a couple inches above her belly button- the Dr. said it is a Peri-something hernia and she will have to have it surgically corrected. Surgical- like they have to cut my baby open- what- wait a minute, that's the only way, it won't close on it's own. She says no but it is not an emaergency and I am given a referal to the pediatric surgeon. We won't see him until next friday. I say should we be concerned, we are leaving for disney in about 2 weeks. She says just make sure you see the surgeon before you go. I am hoping he says it will close on it's own, but not very optimistic that this will be the outcome. My poor little girl I just don't know how to prepare for this, no one I have talked to has even heard of this before so I thought I would bring it to you- Have you heard of this type of hernia?? Any advice, tips, experience will be welcomed. I have been so bummed all evening and I still have so much left to do before we leave(both at work and home), but this just took the wind out of my sails. And I'm going to worry for the next 10 days until we see the surgeon. I know it I might be over reacting a little, but they are talking about putting my baby to sleep and cutting her open to fix her and it is freaking me out. Thank you all for your time. I'll let you all know what happens.

my ds mayson had the exact same thing we went and talked to the surgeon at the children's hospital and he put my mind at ease and can you believe just a week or so before he was supposed to have it it just went away on it's own (the surgeon said that is rare but can happen..but i would just go talk to the surgeon anyways. my son was very preemie, born at 34 1/2 wks he also had to go for surgery on mr winkie (pee Pee ) he had a turtle that just would not come out (as politely as that can be said) i love the surgeon who worked on him . he was out that same day
and child #4 had to have a biopsy and surgery For Hursch brauch at 10 mon, (sorry i butcher that spelling and name ) and he did fine he is a happy lil 4 yr old . I hope that this can ease your mind a lil i know it was hard but god gave me strenghth to over come. i also did alot of research on the internet too

wow! i wish i had the time to do that but i have 5 kids... if i ignore them they will take over ,, but it will be back to normal after vacation and the fact that my kids go back to school the mon after we get back is even better. they have been off track for 3 wks....

Speaking of the Tag Fairy, I had a dream about her! Can you believe that?!?! I was on the computer, of course reading the Dis, when these little butterfly-type fairies with wands started floating around the screen. They were all different colors. Some were blue, pink, yellow, purple, green, etc. And their wands sprinkled pixie dust.

At first, I didn't know what was happening. Then I realized it was the Tag Fairy and I was getting tagged!

Spongie! You were up LATE last night! I know, I know...when there's THREE more days till DisneyLand, there's a ton of stuff to do!

I called a little bit ago, but there was no answer so I can only guess you are:
a. sleeping...lucky!
b. at Walmart buying last minute trip related stuff. Hey, you never know when you'll need a new lime green bra!
c. cleaning and tidying
d. being driven crazy by uncooperative kids (Don't you just LOVE when they're off track????? )
e. sleeping, but your kids are cooking ice cream and are burning down the kitchen.
f. still sewing...determined to make each of your 5 kids a complete outfit for each ride and restaurant, not to mention matching autograph books

WOW - thank you so much - which bow "recipe" did you use for your bows??

I have kinda used all of them sometimes I use several for one bow. I really like the stacked hairbows and those are the aurora, snow white etc bows. The ariel and minnie bows are this same concept except I added the pointy ends which was very simple to do. The other big bow with the gem in the center is the loopy surround a bow. Although I made this BEFORE seeing these instructions. It is really not that hard once you start. Just get some ribbon and go for it! It is really fun and I enjoy doing it. PM me if you need anymore help I will gladly help you!

Thanks all for the compliments to Zoe about her skirt. She definitely had more sway in her walk today when wearing it. As for her picking the fabric, I was really surprised she picked those because they are more blue than pink! She's still got a little work to do on coordinating prints, though, because she wanted to wear a striped tee with the skirt. I'm afraid I couldn't let her go to school with that combination.

tell zoe that her skirt is so cool and funky! i love the print and she did an awesome job.

speaking of skirts....im attempting in the next few days to make a spiral twirl skirt. YOUR JO JO IS MY FAVE!!!! and i want to do those ruffle things in between the "gores" ( i think they call them flounces?) anyway, i cant remember the post, but you once explained how to do it. would you please answer a few questions?

1. how wide is the ruffle strip?
2. is is 2 layers (folded in half?)?
3. i dont have a serger, what stitch should i do down each side of ruffle?
4. i remember that you ran a basting stitch down center to scrunch it up and then sewed down center to attach it to skirt. but do you attach before skirt is put together or after skirt is together?

1) This can vary based on your preference. I usually do the ruffle about 2" wide.
2 & 3) I only do a single layer and finish all edges. I use my serger to do a rolled edge but a narrow hem would work as well.
4) I gathered down the center, pinned it in place on the finished skirt and stitched. I removed the basting stitch afterwards.

I can answer that one! Bitty's waist is almost 12 inches. Both my girls have Bitty Babies. Our playroom is overcrowded so all the Bitty stuff sits right beside the computer and the computer sits right beside the sewing stuff! So everything I needed (Bitty, Computer, Tape Measure) was right here! I know - all you needed was the measurement, not an entire paragraph full of nonsense!

AND the poor thing hasn't been allowed to get a haircut for 2 years so she could get her first haircut at WDW!!! CRAP, how am I gonna work that out..

If it makes you feel better, dd4 was 3 before she had her first haircut. Maybe you can just put it off until next year.

BTW, when dd4 was 2 she ran around singing cinderelli, cinderelli too. Then she'd try to get me to sing the rest & I didn't know it, so she'd get mad & try to explain which song she meant.

Piper- I thought the same thing..no felting. I also might do a smaller white flower in the middle and fasten it w/ a black button. to match the minnie dot buttons.
I don't even have to look at that Knitty link...I thought the SAME thing!!!

I will check out the other flower pattern though.

When I did it, I just used a tight zig-zag over the raw edge. It's survived without raveling through a couple of washes now.

Ohhhh! When I read this the first time I thought, how would we know how big the waist is on her baby? Why doesn't she measure her baby's waist? And why does it matter is the baby is bitty? What a kook!

First of all, I couldn't comment when I first saw Zoe's skirt because I had a sick kid on my lap. It is great! I'm glad that she is so proud of it. You might have to fight her for time at the machine in the future!

Secondly, Megan is having a hard time with the matching stuff too. She thinks anything with blue in it matches, no matter what shade of blue. Teal, navy, baby blue, they all match! Sometimes when she goes off to school I think, I hope the teacher knows I didn't dress her!

Well I went to Hobby Lobby again tonight. I think I freaked the lady out. I had bought 10 yards of tulle Friday night for Shel's dress and finished that part (cutting tulle is a PAIN). Well it only made about half of her dress so I had to go get another 10 yards. Then I bought the tulle for the girls I went ahead and got 15 yards a piece for them. So tonight I bought 40 yards of tulle! You should have seen her face when I told her how much I needed of each color.
I saw the tulle ribbon that everyone was talking about tonight but it would have cost way way way to much to buy it that way. Though it would have been a LOT easier. I am not looking forward to cutting all these strips of tulle!

Hey, when were you there? I was there this afternoon! AND Sharman's! (LOVE that place! Yummy fabric!)

Are you using a rotary cutter on the tulle? It makes things a lot easier! Still a lot of cutting, but makes things go much faster.

Zoe is the same way with pink. She has some clothes that are fine for playing outside but not for school. I feel bad making her change her clothes since she's doing so well about waking and dressing by herself since school started but there are some things I just can't get past - like the tshirt with a stain that is perfectly fine for making mudpies and jumping in puddles but not for school. LOL

BTW My sister said when her oldest was in grade school, she was tempted to send a note with him some mornings when he'd put together a particularly clashing outfit. She did mention that to the teacher and she replied that most teachers can figure out which kids dressed themselves.
