OK, I was just gonna reply that yes there is a photo of the front of the overalls and it's in the photobucket album but since I'm in treadmill-avoidance mode, I went and copied it.
100_0770.jpg

I'm not even gonna try to applique a face on the bib, I'll just have to come up with something a little more simplistic!

And, I love the butt ruffle too! As a matter of fact, when I first saw this outfit posted, I told my daughter I was gonna make it for her, butt ruffle and all!:lmao: She's 18 so you can imagine the rolling eyes I got!:snooty:

So, Susan, you think just sewing over the sides would be ok? My daughter had some overalls when she was younger but my memory fades about how well they fit to the body.

So, HeatherSue, are you thinking I could make the skirt with a casing, insert the elastic and then sewthe skirt on the overalls, skipping the sides and it would work? Sounds like something I could handle.:thumbsup2

Any more ideas out there?

Thanks all!

I sewed Makayla's straight across and even cut the buttons off. DGS just slides right on into his overalls without opening the buttons...guess it depends on how much chub the baby has....

I was looking around dreaming about fabric and I came across this: Can you believe Michael Miller actually designed a line of fabric JUST FOR US? It crackied me up so I had to post. It is actually called "that's sew wrong" :rotfl2:

Ok, here are pics. They aren't great, but it's the best I can do for now.

This is for dgd to wear to Epcot. You might remember the twirl skirt I made for dd2, this goes with that.

This is also for dgd, I need to make hairbows so I can mail it to her. This is made from leftover fabrics from the girls patchwork skirts. I bought some pumpkin buttons to use for a Cinderella outfit, and they looked perfect on this!

This is the pink/black Mickey skirt that I tried and failed twice! I didn't want a full-on twirl skirt, but that's what I had to do in the end to make it work. She didn't like the top I made cuz it covers too much of the skirt! It's just a black T with a Mickey made of the dots fabric. I'm gonna try to shorten it later.

This is like a tshirt dress, only it's shorter. It's a twirly top!

Oh, my, I am so jealous...they are all beautiful!

Question...What stitches do you use for the faces you embroider? How do you know where to put them? In other words, HELP...I have these princess heads and no faces!

Hahahahahaha-HA! those are fabulous! Perfect for my sewing room I dream about. The one with a computer in it to stay linked to my sewing Girlfriends alllllll day long! I call it the "Mama Cave" :rotfl2: It even has a fridge (in my mind, that is!)

HOLY TOLEDO WHAT PRETTY GIRLS AND PRETTY CUSTOMS! You did a great job and the girls look so happy!

tell zoe that her skirt is so cool and funky! i love the print and she did an awesome job.

speaking of skirts....im attempting in the next few days to make a spiral twirl skirt. YOUR JO JO IS MY FAVE!!!! and i want to do those ruffle things in between the "gores" ( i think they call them flounces?) anyway, i cant remember the post, but you once explained how to do it. would you please answer a few questions?

1. how wide is the ruffle strip?
2. is is 2 layers (folded in half?)?
3. i dont have a serger, what stitch should i do down each side of ruffle?
4. i remember that you ran a basting stitch down center to scrunch it up and then sewed down center to attach it to skirt. but do you attach before skirt is put together or after skirt is together?

thanks for your help- i know youre busy. and i know you like to keep your trade secrets---but trust me when i say this skirt is for personal use only-----too much of a pain to sew for others and im lucky if my stuff doesnt fall apart!!:rotfl:

I just had to share this skirt. Zoe and I worked on it together, she picked the fabric, helped cut the gores and stitched most of the seams (I was right beside her to help guide the fabric so the seams are semi-straight and even). I added the simple hem treatment and waistband. She wore it to school this morning and was excited to show it to her teacher and friends.

BTW - Please ignore the pile of stabilizer scraps swept into the corner. LOL I have a bad habit of just tossing thread, fabric trimmings, etc. to the floor as I work since I always end up missing a trash can when I've used one in the past.

Great job, and it is wonderful you are teaching Zoe your craft...she has developed your style in color choice...lucky girl!

I use a satin stitch. What I do is lay the applique over the picture I used and use a marking pencil (the kind that washes out) to mark my lines. I'm not much help in this dept. I'm still learning! There is a fabulous link in TJ's bookmarks that has embroidery tutorial videos, I highly suggest watching those!

I'm finally getting around to my trip report of Sept. 23-30. I came home, worked one day and got sick. I missed another week of work. So I am finally getting around to working on my pictures.

We had a really magical trip. Never saw the Dream Team. I was hoping to win a set of ears a pin lanyard. But we had our own magic.

When we arrived in Orlando, the pilot invited the kids on the plane to sit with him in the cockpit and to take pictures. Kirsta is wearing her Hannah Montana outfit I bought for her and her "hair". This was an unplanned outfit, so unfortunately, she didn't get to wear all the things I made for her.

Ignore the goofy face in the first picture. We always have dinner with Cinderella and Prince Charming our first night. But this year, we ate in the castle. As we walked down Main Street, you could hear everyone rave about her dress. Kirsta's head would go a little higher each time she heard it. We had people walk across the street to come tell her how beautiful her dress was. She later told me she was "royalty" becuase everyone was calling her Princess. lol! I thought the dress came out nice, but I didn't expect the amount of comments we heard.

This is at MGM. All she wanted was to show Pluto her skirt. But every time we go to the character greeting, the lines were stopped. I didn't think they had that many characters out as they had in the past. Even in all the parks. I was disappointed as getting autographs is a big deal to Kirsta.

I never got around to showing everyone this skirt. I'm not that fond of it. I planned on a sash at the hip, but could never find a ribbon to match. I think it's the denim I don't like. I made shorts to go underneath so it's a skort.

The first is the only picture I have of our dear sweet "Betty" in her Nanny costume I made for her Disney trip. Kirsta wanted to see Mary Poppins to show her Betty. On our way out of the BBB, we saw MP heading to the carasel. Kirsta grabbed Betty and ran after her. MP invited Kirsta to get on the ride with her, they rode it twice and chatted the whole time together. MP signed her autograph book when they got off and then took all the kids waiting for her over to her "spot" by the castle. It was truly magical.

This was very last minute. Mom-mom had to help me get it finished. I wasn't going to make it, but Kirsta wanted to know where it was. I planned on doing a twirl skirt, but couldn't find a matching sheer. I ended up liking the shorts much better. But we discovered that when it rains, the knit stretches. So I'll have to rethink the next one. She has a matching headband and scrunchy, but of course, how could you wear it with the special hairdo.

Here is our Minnie outfit. We went to the Backyard BBQ. Several people stopped us on the way there to say it was the best Minnie outfit they had seen. I really think it got her picked to help in the lasso show. She was picked to help with the demostration. Cyclone Sally kept saying she thought it was Minnie Mouse and didn't know why she wasn't on her break. And the other guy (I forgot his name) said he did to, until he saw her shoes. I had planned on getting yellow Crocs, but ran out of time looking for them.

Great twirl skirt!! We are at the Halloween party. I had several CMs walk across the street to tell me this was the most orgional costume they had seen in years. I has several guests stop to ask where I got becuase thier daughter wanted one. This was a big hit!! BTW, I was the fairy Godmother.

I made her a princess skort and a tshirt from the creative list about Princess get the sillies. Snow White had her do a silly face with her, and there is one of Belle also. But it's on photopass. I'll have to order that one. Mulan kissed her check and we had to go to the bathroom a hundred times so we could look at the lipstick print.

Our last day. Kirsta was picked to be the Chef of the Day at the ASMusic resort. They made a big announcement and she got to make her ice cream sundae. Got a big certificate and balloon. She really loved it.

We got a lot of attention on the trip and it helped to make the trip really magical. I really think it was because of all her wonderful outfits I made her thanks to everyone here and their ideas. I might not have done as much as I did if not for everyone on the board. Thank you for your help and ideas.

EVERYTHING YOU MADE IS JUST BEAUTIFUL AND WHAT MEMORIES YOU MADE

ok, so here is Nicholas in his cowboy outfit! Will get the football one on him later! He just woke up and his hair is a little tossled around.

How cute...nice to see little Nicholas there! I may have to Frankenpattern that!

Cute! You did a great job. I love scotties...is the top a dress?

Here are my Jack Skellington shirts I appliqued a couple of weeks ago for DS4 (Yikes! that's the last time I'll every type that! DS turns 5 tomorrow!), DS8, and DH. My bobbin case broke in the middle of it all and I had to wait to finish them. Anyhow, while not complicated they were a bit of a challenge. Jack's supposed to look like sloppy stitching though, right? I can't complain though. Total cost was $2 each!

The price was right and the shirts are awesome!

here is a better pic of the bows

1a.jpg

2a.jpg

I love bows..Makayla's hair is so fine that nothing holds in it yet...maybe it won't change either....darn...I would love to try some, but then what would I do with them??? She won't even wear a little tiny crown!

I cut into my Minnie Dot fabric once again and made twirl skirts for DD5 and DD4. DD5 has white trim and black rick rack. DD4 has yellow trim and yellow rick rack. It's hard to see, but there's a Minnie bow on each skirt over one area of the rick rack. I haven't made tops yet. I'm thinking long sleeved white tops with the ribbon and Mickey heads that other's have made. But any suggestions are welcome.

I was hoping the bows would be a little less floppy. They are only pinned on so I could remove them when washing. But I might sew them on and then sew the ends down as well so they look better.

I know it's a lot of photos. They don't ALL need to go into the DisBoutique PhotoBucket. :lmao:

Love the twirl factor...don't little girls just love these skirts?

 Susan

Donno if anyone remember my Halloween skirts that I made a while back, but I FINALLY finished the shirts (all 4 of them). Here are some photos we took this past weekend. I never did get around to the bows or the braclets :confused3 .

HOLY TOLEDO, I GOOFED WHEN I POSTED MY COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS AND THESE BEAUTIFUL CUSTOMS...LOVE THEM!

Hi Susan, my DD2 has much less hair than Makayla and hers is baby fine as well. The only way I can get bows to stay in is to put in a pony tail or two with a small hair elastic. Wal-Mart sells some in their baby department that are very inexpensive (a ton in multiple colors for something like $1.50) They are one-time use but they seem to stay in DDs hair very well. If I want one bow instead of two, she doesn't have enough hair to fit in one full pony. so I gather up a small amount of hair on top and off-center and wrap it in a hair elastic, then I put the bow right in front of the elastic. They always stay in unless they are alligator clips which usually stay in but not always. Did that make sense? She would have a hard time pulling them out if she wanted too but she doesn't want to. Every morning she asks for "mickey bows" (anything polka dot) or Lella (Cinderella) bows (everything else). Don't give up on bows! They are too fun.

Because everyone is showing off bows and talking about them I thought I would show you some of ours
DSCF1687.jpg

These are just a few we still need more!!!!;)

TNmom_ The outfits are FANTASTIC! How did you get all that work done?:confused3 I especially like the Jasmine! Great choice of fabric!

HI - GREAT bows!! I was wondering, is every piece of ribbon attached to a loopy part, or do you add in some extra strips of ribbon to make some of those flat parts?

thanks, wendy

Do you make your own bows for her? What kind of clip stays in her hair? I just love bows. When she was an infant/toddler I bought her these stretchy bands and huge huge bows on voldemart...they were adorable....

I see you are staying at POR in Jan...I LOVE THAT PLACE!!! Our favorite resort ever...even over the deluxes...the grounds are so pretty. But now that I invested in DVC, rarely stay there. I have to stay there on a week end next time I go. I love the food court there also...we ate there in Sept when we were there...

Well, my little peanut came off the school bus feeling poorly so I haven't got much accomplished this afternoon. I was able to finish this while she was napping:

He asked if he should twirl, hee! Have I got them trained or what?

HeatherSue: I am going to start on that top tonight. Wish me luck!
